    I needed machine decomp due to my spine issues. It was not bad during, but after machine stops, they take the knee support away and that’s when you feel what just happened… real traction therapy. I needed assistance to sit-up & stand up, then had to put on a back brace for remainder of the day. It was painful the 1st day or 2 after because you were literally stretched and disc enlarged, so your body, muscles/ligaments etc have also been affected. It is beneficial but not a massage either. I couldn’t bend or sit for long periods, took advil and applied hot compress to assist in the healing… because that’s what is takin place. It can be intense, as was mine u
    But day 4 was amazing. That was 2 years ago and i still recall the post pain/recuperation.

    thank you, it helps me a lot but I have one question. during manual traction, is it necessary to lock the hip joint first??

    Can this be done on a patient with Grade 2 Spondylolisthesis at L5, Bilateral Pars Defect at L5, and severe Spinal Stenosis at L5, and several buldging discs in the Lumbar Spine? I'm supposed to have surgery, but I'm unable to at the present time.

    • @RuthieSeptember
      @RuthieSeptember 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kathy Eveleth - I have the same diagnoses as you: grade 2 spondylolisthesis at 4/5, 4 herniations, severe stenosis at L 3-4 and L5-S1. I also have left sacroiliac joint dysfunction. I’ve had these diagnoses since 2006. It will take several surgeries to do all the repairs. I manage with a TENS unit, heating pad, and a home program from physical therapy. One of the best devices I found and use faithfully is called “LoBak Trax”. I learned how to use it correctly and it helps to keep me able to walk. I’m soon to be 69 years old and have worked in health care since 1969. Once I learned how to manage my pain myself, the need for medication has significantly decreased, sleepless nights are rare, and I avoid all the surgeries.

    What is the difference between Supine lying traction and prone lying traction?

  • @corehealth
    @corehealth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why would you not just use a Decompression table. You have the Triton table that looks like it opens up. Just need a motor unit and belts to do decompression. It is much easier on the doctor and much more comfortable on the patient with better results. How many people would you want to do this on per day. With a decompression table you can do that therapy all day long on many different patients. The Decomp tables also allow for static traction or progressive traction as well as setting the angle of pull to target a specific disc more.

      I think this is a lesson on manual ways when you do not have mechanical mechanism to help you hands off is all. In my athletic training field, we don't have fancy equipment usually like most PT clinics so learning manual helps when you only got yourself or minimal equipment to use!

  • @tesla416
    @tesla416 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Spinal adjustments can get similar, or better results than traction, especially on young people.
    Traction is helpful in acute (pain) phase of back problems, where adjustments are more helpful when pain is decreased, for long term relief and stablization.

      @@loucipher7782 34 is not old, specific adjustments to subluxated vertebrae on a regular basis (every week or two) for several weeks or months, will realign the spine, and take the pressure off nerves. Traction does help, especially for acute pain, but adjustments last longer, or you can do both for faster results.

      @@tesla416 i had adjustment 3 years ago then stopped for 2 years as i already felt okay + hassle due to covid restrictions, then recently i had a bad sneeze while sitting and bending forward something gone wrong and pinched a nerve i felt sharp pain all the time and went back to the chiro. After few adjustment the sharp pain is gone but i still feel tingling everywhere and tired pain back muscles. After reevaluate a new xray she recommend to do 'stabilization' 2 times a week 20% improvement rate and comment that 'restructuring' which is 3 times a week 50% improvement rate is pointless already? my question is if i want to restructure my spine again is it impossible now that i've had several chiro sessions already? is there a limit to how much we can receive adjustment to correct bone structure per lifetime? i have mild scoliosis and spondy and pelvic imbalance. thanks
