Nice car Nick! Just a quick point or two and a clarification- First, this is an early sequence number car, in other words, early production. The clear top overflow tank, radiator support brace, and instument gauge lenses show this. It may or may not have the 'long' Cadillac armrests in the doors; that was factory correct from Buick on some early cars of this body (A) in 1970 and was not GS-specific. That support brace is plastic and easily broken BTW. The standard steel stamping fits the same in case anyone has broken one. Second there was no Gran Sport in 1970. Zero, zip, none. There are several points of confusion with Buick model names of this era. The 'Gran Sport' name had been dropped by 1970, and the Skylark model could not be ordered as a GS. To get a GS you had to order a GS. They were seperate series (models) per Buick. Decoding the VIN will illustrate, if anyone is skeptical. First three digits will be 434 on the VIN for a 1970 GS. A GS455 would be 446. A GS455 Stage 1 is still 446- there was no VIN consideration for the Stage 1 package in 1970. When this featured car was built, GSX did not exist- it was a half-year model, made after early sequence production. A GSX VIN for this year will be starting with 446 as well. Stage 1 was a bit special. To determine that, you have to look at the engine code, the carb, distributor, and trans. Hope this helps somebody.
@@bbb462cid Good that someone else is an aficionado on Buick GS. I have a 1967 GS 400, they dropped the Grand Sport name in 67 when they came out with the GS 400 engine and the one year only futuristic air cleaner, now known as the Star Wars air cleaner . Keith
The one I bought in 73 had a 350/TH350, 2BBL, single exhaust. From the Buick dealer in Concord, Cal. Still looking for the GS455. The 350 was my compromise. Buy it when you see it.
@@michaelwest6757 There is a 71 or 72 for sale here in Norway. 350 with coloumn shifter in a deep gorgeous blue. I'm on the fence on getting it..I dunno...It looks too good to be built into a street machine
I had a friend that had a Buick GS it had a 455 with automatic it was on the floor with the basket shifter very fast car especially with 410 gears. Very nice car can't believe it's a standard WOW.
In 1970 my father was shopping for a new car and focusing on dealer demo vehicles hoping for a better deal. Anyway he brought one of these home it was brown , automatic, had red line tires on steel wheels it think with a simple Buick dog dish hub cap . When I looked under the hood and saw the working intake setup I got really excited. Turns out that enthusiasm was the wrong reaction . He took it back and returned later that evening with a 1970 4 door Pontiac Catalina with skirts . In the end the performance of the Catalina was pretty good and I liked the looks. Thanks for posting all these great cars .
I've subscribed to this channel before but I was just looking at a 1998 buick and watched a review video. Most likely reason why this popped in my feed which is still cool.
Sweet ride, Nick. You might want to check if that car has a thermostat in it. I had a Olds. that the thermostat was sticking and was causing irregular temperature reading, trying to overheat. Cheap fix was to take out the thermostat and drive it that way in the summer time. When I had the money, I'd buy one for the colder weather, like your having now during your test drive. In colder weather without the thermostat, the engine would run cooler.
We set are cars up like that back in the day slightly pulls to the right was right on the money because the weight of your hand on the streering wheel made the car go straight
I have one of those, all original matching numbers, silver with a black vinyl top, and a 350 V8. I can guarantee that its a sweet car. I love that thing
Not quite a "super" muscle car, but with 315 hp & 410 torque (according to "Classic Car Database") it will get out of it's own way just fine, especially with the 4-speed!
That’s an early GS at that, the way you can tell is about the first 6 months they put the steering wheel out of the 69 Buick’s. Then after that the went with the ones from 71 & 72.
I been wanting to reach out coz im coming to see you to buy a car but still 13k short so no point flappin my lips. But my bother had skylark in late 70,s when we were late teens. Those cars hauled ass just like rest of muscle but had no rep coz out every ten muscle cars you be lucky have one skylark. But that GS they had. Showed what was going on. Have great life till i call for my car. It will be 55 or 57 chevy im sure you know rest. Have enjoyed video,s for while peace. Barry 20 minutes from white house. An yes sir it sucks .LOL

Nice! All of the 1970 classic cars are badazz.
Yes they are!!!!!!!!!!!
The inside of the trunk is gold
The inside of the door jambs are gold
I’m old enough to remember when this would have been a $2,500 car on a good day.
god damn thats nothing for a car like this, hooooooly
Skylarks are some of the nicest cars this one would be beautiful in white and black

Good Morning My Good Little Bro Nick Southgate Of Maple Motors & That Is A Nice Looking 1970 Buick Skylark

So many were turned into GSX clones over the years, that's a unicorn
I have one of those, all original matching numbers, silver with a black vinyl top, and a 350 V8. I can guarantee that its a sweet car. I love that thing
Black interior and I would have sent you check already. My car when I was 16 was a 1970 Buick GS350. Beat a few 396 Chevelles with it.
That looks likes it’s going fast just standing still!! Even the speedometer agree’s with me lol 😂 sweet ride.
That's a nice GS it just needs fresh code of paint
Very beautiful amazing looking car beautiful colours thanks Nick have a very nice day mate
Did I see a radiator hose and clamps on the exhaust ?

Mid size Buick with a manual transmission, boy have things changed.
That's a clean 4 speed just pick a color car seems solid 👍
Sweet ride, 4 speed (woohoo), lots of potential, and the horn works!!! This one won’t last long.
Very nice Buick. Not a whole lot wrong. I would add it to my Maple Motors collection.
Dang that makes me miss the one I had for 20 years. That my ex-wife caused me to have to sell.
Awesome looking steering wheel 👌 😎
It’s almost boot and cold start season. :-)
I Like Buick Regal Turbo From 1987 Totally Amazing Badass Modern Muscle Car

I've got a 78 malibu with a 3 spd. Do you ever take cars on partial trade?
Yes all the time
Rims look great 👍 👌 😀
Nice project car!!!👍😎😎😎
Those Delta road max tires are ancient tires.
I hear that, I still have Dayton Daytona's on my 72 Skylark.
👍 Sweet ride
But inside the engine compartment is not
I would bet that's a different front clip
Hey nice Buick…. Best classic cars on that lot…especially the classic Chevys…👍🏼👍🏼
You got that right!
I want one!
Did anybody else see the hose clamps on the exhaust system?
My first car no GS ,it was a custom.
AC car .
Dam might have to trade my 81 Z28
Nice Car. Wich tire size is this?
It's ready for a new home to get a little lovin', wouldn't take much really!
But i gotta say i love them BUICKS
excellent matt black mad max
70 gs was one fastest car n 70s
:) 1970 GS had the 350. You're thinking of the 1970 GS455 Stage 1...and there was also a very rare Stage 2
A Buick Skylark is basically Buick’s version of the Chevelle. Especially the 1970 model.
Trade ya for 2010 SRT8 challenger 6.1 hemi?
What about that giant gap on door by the front qtr? Holy Molly
You seen it , it was included in the video
Nice mean muscle.
Well, the paperwork and pedigree are there. That’s half of the battle
70 g s they would get up and go when they came out

With the 455 engine it was a real runner.
510 foot pounds of torque
Name a muscle car that could beat a 70 stage 1,very few could touch a factory 360hp 510ft lbs,13.38 quarter mile hemi cuda 13.70s ,454 ls6 13.45.
That’s an early GS at that, the way you can tell is about the first 6 months they put the steering wheel out of the 69 Buick’s. Then after that the went with the ones from 71 & 72.
Would even nicer with a/c and buckets and console.
Like it !
why are they so affordable compared to dodge etc from the same years?

Hey have u ever came by a 1972 dodge demon 440 stroker?
I’ve got a Buick 455 laying around too…. I actually need to bail on this hobby again
Driver 1
What's up with the goofy looking steering wheel?
Shame a lot of nice cars have so many little flaws like speedo doesn’t work. That makes me nuts.
My first car was a 1971 350 skylark. Unfortunately I got drunk and flipped it going over a hundred. I escaped but the car didn't.
Shessssh
Feed the buick
the last 3 videos never showed up in my notifications box. had to unsub and resub twice to get it to work.
OK dammit
I love Buick Skylarks, but you must have dropped a full sheet of acid if you think this car is worth 19,900.
Typical buick oil system, pressure reads lower as the engine warms up...
Yeah your right , the oil does get thinner as it gets warmer. Thanks for watching
