I actually lived in a farmhouse and had original rustic farmhouse decor back in the '90s. The "modern" farmhouse look is what is ruining the style and making it cheesy. Oh, PS... We actually used items that were handed down to us from grandparents. If younger people actually appreciated the quality of older furniture, they would not have to 'thrift' to find it. Just go to grandma's house. Honestly... millennials.
Exactly what I do! I do the cost with moss green and a slightly stronger cream yellow accent! It's very much me, love yellow and Ima Aussie, but soft and relaxing. You have great extra ideas! Love it!

I don’t tell my mom “avoid farmhouse style like the plague” I say “replace your signs and Rae Dunn with vintage country art and real ceramics, let me gift you some.” Any style can be done cheesy and themey OR chic and elevated. It’s nothing inherent about country style! Dark cottagecore is the same, those elements can be executed in a refined updated way, that’s my personal vibe :) (unpopular opinion: the super colorful Gen Z postmodern style is also guilty of being themey and cheesy)

I'm in the process of remodeling my entire ground floor after a pipe burst in January. Before moving in 11 months ago I had painted away the 1992 beige. Updating to a warm grey with white trim. Thanks to the remodel I now have shaker cabinets with oiled bronze hardware, cement grey quartz counter tops with a deep sink. Flooring has been updated to Acacia distressed solid hardwood. I wanted clean, subtle and easy to maintain. I'm blending together I like and finding it fun making my first home reflect me and my lifestyle. Next projects, window coverings and updated lighting. Going basic and simple. Staying away from trendy. (Thanks for that trendy tip on your other video)

What they DID have was an entire, HUGE section devoted to the magnolia queen and the McGee chick---all farmhouse crap and all the same. So, so, SOOOO many faux plants on display. But, alas, not a lemon zester or a corkscrew to be found. 😂
