It is essentially a mashup of Born This Way, Umpah Umpah for pre-chorus, and the chorus melodies remind me a lot of Baek Yerin's Maybe It's Not Our Fault (chorus) as well lol

I really like scientest. I think because it has a comforting bright sound it grows on you. Once it gets in your head it's stuck. I definitely think the album is more interesting. This is probably their most diverse album yet. Definitely a good listen
I think on first listen it can feel a little underwhelming because normally titles are so explosive. But Scientist kind of feels like an *incredible* b-side? After the first listen, every time I've heard the song it just totally lifts my mood
The pre-chorus is a fine touch to the song. Sounds a bit umpah umpah but the build to the chorus is so satisfying. Never did my mind correlated the chorus with 'born this way' and now i cannot unhear it

'Cruel' and 'Last Waltz' are really one of the best songs of the year, IMO. I recommend you these♡

Honestly the whole album is fantastic. Just when you think you know what your favorite song is another plays and knocks you upside the head with how good it is.

When Kevin started playing Scientist by Coldplay I started laughing because when I saw that that was Twice’s comeback title song, that was the first song I thought of haha 😂

I'm gonna be honest, the bridge was my fav part of the song-- from Momo's low part to the "love ain't a sci- mm mmmh" to the dance break.
I'm one of the few people that liked Scientist on the first listen 🥲 But yeah, I think you would also really love Formula of Love album coz it's very mindblowing!! Crossed fingers that you filmed a reaction to the album, but it's okay if you didn't. I saw Last Waltz on your not so sure playlist so looking forward to CMR to Last Waltz 🤞
I liked it upon first listen for sure, but it wasn't like "The Feels' where I fell in love with it upon the first listen. Scientist took a little while longer to grow on me.

Fun fact: the way they pronounce “Einstein” in the song, which Kevin highlighted because he probably wasn’t used to hearing it pronounced like that, is actually the correct way!
“Einstein” is a german surname (it literally translates to “Onestone”) and in the german language there’s a sound change rule where if a “s” is directly followed up by a “t” it makes a “sht” sound, instead of the expected “st” sound, which is how english speaking people would pronounce it.
Personally I love this song. I have similar emotions to Red Velvet's Queendom in the way that both are kind of laid back, not trying to reinvent the wheel and are extremely well made and nice to listen to.
You guys need to check out the rest of the album. It's one of their best along with Eyes Wide Open.
Umu, there is at least one other song on this album that you absolutely must listen to. I know y'all liked Twice's "Hell in Heaven," and I think in a lot of ways "Last Waltz" from this album is in that same vein. Honestly I think I like this album as much as "Eyes Wide Open" which has been in my top three kpop albums since it was released. The most amazing thing is, Twice isn't my favorite group, or even my second favorite, but they are so good they are impossible to ignore. "Formula of Love" continues this trend, I have basically been listening to it and only it since its release(well aside from heavy doses of dubstep, ya know, for my health). As for "Scientist," it has grown on me a lot as I've listened to the album, and now finds itself among my favorite Twice title tracks.
Maybe if you watch more of their contents like shows or their TH-cam series Time to Twice , they will become into your top 2 or even top 1 ! ;) , You will definitely fall for them, TWICE are known for their great personalities, not just within kpop fans but also within the kpop industry,(people who work there), they are just lovable , respectful and so down to earth. They are simply so real !
@@rihemmaz9386 I already love them, and consider myself a Once. My top two(Dreamcatcher and Pixy) are gonna be hard for anyone to beat, simply because their style of music is more my taste. Talent wise Twice is on equal footing, and Jihyo is a beast in every way that matters for an idol.
It's always great to see TWICE on the channel! I found that Scientist is a bit too unchanging for my liking, but that's mainly because of its context within the entire album.
I think the highlight of this Formula Of Love project has to do with the B-side tracks, and knowing how the members of the channel reacted to Hell In Heaven from the Eyes Wide Open album, I heartedly recommend Cruel and Last Waltz from the same album as Scientist.
The album broke my expectations, I don't find myself listening to scientist for some reason, but the bsides are amazing

And the members help compose, wrote lyrics plus surprise sub-units as a gift to Fans
It’s definitely one of the few kpop albums/ albums out there that explores different types/sides that is put in together and knowing how it’s very risky move but still did it.
You’ll be shocked how good this album is knowing it’s also TWICE
Please react to the whole album. Its their best album so far. I often like their bsides more than the title track because it sounds less mainstream and more personal to the girls and onces.
Its definitely a grower and personally I appreciate it's function as the introduction and palette cleanser for the album.
I couldn't understand at first why another full album so soon, and coming after Taste of Love which is pop perfection the expectations were high but oh wow, they delivered. Their most complete and high quality project to date and Scientist does so well as the lead single. I just can't help but be impressed at how serious they take their work and how good they are at it

i did NOT care for the feels at all but THIS i am OBSESSED with this song!!!!!! this is already one of my favorite twice songs!! one of my favorite details about it is how much they let twice go lower on their vocals!! mina, momo, and jeongyeon really got to shine with their lower ranges in this song and i love it a lot

Agreed that the ending to Scientist was amazing. Don't work Umu I totally hear those little percussive layers too. I like the colour they add to the song.

Scientist isn't part of my top 4 favorites from the album, but I appreciate it all the same because they're not singing too high like they do in previous title tracks. At least, in my opinion. ☺️

I really think you should check out the full album, there's some songs in there with some really nice surprises musically, Last Waltz definitely being high in that category. Jihyo also wrote and composed Cactus, so I recommend checking that out

i honestly liked scientist on first listen because it’s very easy on the ears but when i finished the album it kinda made me question why they chose scientist as the title

Twice songs are pretty much formulaic and that formula always works 😎👍
Yay! TWICE back on ReacttotheK makes me a happy lad. I like "Scientist" alright, but I almost think it's one of the least interesting songs on the album. Much like "Eyes Wide Open", the b-sides plain outshines the main single. On Formula of Love, I really like "Last Waltz", "E.S.P.R.E.S.S.O.", "Push and Pull", and "Hello" (because there's no such thing as too much Momo). However, I really liked that one point that Kevin made about how the song doesn't stray from its genre, it stays within that universe instead of feeling the need to bring in dubstep, trap or something else. I feel like TWICE's latest few albums have been more like that, where you get this sense of confidence in their sound from the producers and the overall product. They choose a genre to interpret, and then they go all the way. A lot of other K-pop groups have these constant switch-ups and that makes the music seem like a Michael Bay movie - it has to constantly bring in "exciting" elements to entice you, and it feels like they don't have faith in their product.
Banger ppl are sleeping on this so hard. Im happy yall check it out and gave some insight. Such a cool title track.

Also for Kevin, The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" uses a major sample of the Andrew Loog Oldham orchestral cover of The Rolling Stones "The Last Time".
" Scientist" has big song writing credentials : Shim Eun-ji (long time JYP contributor), Anne Marie, Melanie Fontana (lots of recent major kpop contributions), Michel Schulz and Tommy Brown ( aka TBHits, who worked on all Arianna Grande albums, Victoria Monet, Blackpink, Nas, going back to BEP in 2010)

it seems to me like the twice team is trying to skate where the puck is going in terms of pop music history. this track sounds like a early to mid 90s pop single. they have dabbled in the city pop, disco, funk, and new jack swing genres recently as well. it seems to be an Anemoia strategy in terms of song writing. im here for it because as far as im concerned those eras of music never get old and should be carried forward.
Please react to the its album "FORMULA OF LOVE" it has so many interesting songs especially LAST WALTZ & ESPRESSO. It interest mo so much that I want musically inclined people to explain them
