I'm not sure that's true. Everybody plays boring games. It's just how Chess works. There can't always be fireworks.

This dude is the only one that doesn't stick to the rules. He plays Magnus, and doesn't play for an equal game from the beginning.
He goes into a game to win, but plays defence from the beginning. Like plays all the top defensive lines to the end. "Beat me if you can".
He tries hard, but most of his opponents work hard to close the possibilities, fearing to be MVL'd
He likes to keep everyone excited.

That attack on the black king when it was in the corner was a masterclass in tactics. Levon's king comes limping out of the corner having barely survived mate, but his resulting position was completely dead. Down material, down in development, zero counterplay. Wonderful game by MVL.

Indeed.. I even thought he wasn't that strong when i started watching this channel cuz the games I'd seen him, he was the recipient of brutal attacks. It took some time before i learnt that he's actually a beast in his own right, capable of dishing out brutal attacks himself to anybody and everybody.
For me the most impressive one is Levon vs Anand

2 rooks and bishop vs queen, rook AND 3 PAWNS is an unbelievable advantage to have brought to the late game. I might've seen it, but I still don't know how the hell he did it.
That Queen move at the end was the icing on the cake Rook captures Bishop MVL ends up getting a two for one

What a wild tournament
This reminds me of a game between Parham and someone. Underdeveloped pieces: a rook and knight against a queen a pawn. Not fair odds to black, also with an exposed king.
Crushing attack
I wondered what happened to MVL as we didn't see him in any games covered from him nor in the big tournaments. What a boss - 2 amazing games from him!
One of your correspondents told me that the French was seldom played at the top level. Thank you for this sparkling example. Far from being a dour defence, the French offers an exciting game for both players with black getting his share of the thrills.

These kind of games make me wonder how brutal Tal would be if he had access to super computers back in the days. I think he'd beat people into depression.

I didn’t realize the light squared Bishop was such an important defensive piece I thought dark squared Bishop was key

Maxime is always well prepaired for these blitzs tournaments, and when he is in one of his preparations, it is hard to find the good way to play with so little time to investigate the intrications of the position. We see in these games that Maxime has much more time than his opponents.

they say agad's mother played same sequence in bed against Kasparov, when she ran away with Kasparov. Then Ivanchuk found and took her back from Kasparov - at the same time he played spontaneous against young couple in bed. Mystery is what Ivanchuk showed agad's mother on way back, but as it's known that it made her change her life philosophy. Thanks man - super review.
