What do you think of the YouBikes? Would you ride around in Taipei?

I visited the National Taiwan University campus and there are something like 20 YouBike stations on top of thousands of personally-owned bikes. I think even if we are not used to it, locals are definitely in love with the system.

I am planning for my trip to Taiwan and I am interested in riding YouBikes along the trail. This is super helpful! Thank you! I rented a Mobi Bike for a ride in Stanley Park earlier this year. It was also a nice experience. YouBikes look a lot similar to Mobi Bikes!

Looks like a great system. I was there in September 2013 and at that time Giant shops were so extensive that they had a service much like renting a car in the US -- you could pick up a bike in one city and drop it off in another. I rode from Hualian to Taidong. Gorgeous scenery and nice people everywhere. There were so many B and Bs (called "minsu") that you could just stop riding when it got dark and easily find a place to stay. Police stations have air and water for cyclists. Wonderful place in every way.

I’ve ridden from Dadaocheng (on Tamsui River) to Jingmei - that’s about 10 or so miles on a YouBike on a river trail. Could be worse
