I love how the main argument against online school is losing friends or not being able to talk to your friends... like as if I had friends to start with
Social anxiety and completely no motivation to leave the house is a good reason to leave 4th year high school.... In total for 4th year I've been in school for a few weeks....
I did online school 2020-2021 and it was WAYYYY better than being in person. I’m currently in person right now (in my junior year of hs) and I HATE IT compared to last year. I have social anxiety and have no friends, so online schooling is literally a dream come true for me. I’m most likely signing up for online schooling again for my senior year and will probably end up doing online college as the major that I’m currently interested in following through with (computer science/programming) has many opportunities for homeschooling. Honestly, if you’re like me, definitely go for online schooling. It can be hard to focus at times, but the flexibility of it and the lower pressure to socialize/fit in makes it SO WORTH IT. good luck to anyone reading this and have a good day/night !!!
i suffered all throughout my junior year and maybe made like two or three friends while constantly being anxious because of my social anxiety its not worth it
hey, so I know i’m a bit late on this, but i’m in 8th grade and really am considering doing online school for all the way through high school. I’ve started online school this year ( 2022 ) of 8th grade, and it’s going good so far! I don’t have any friends, and my social anxiety has been horrible and that’s overall mainly why I didn’t go in-person. I don’t know if I should go in person or stay online throughout my highschool years, I just need help deciding.
@@ExpoJuice i want to got back school but i got to a majority black school so all the hood parents are gonna send their bad kids to school, and they probably gonna cough and touch on people for fun and joke around. Im not tryna get RONA. 0_0
Honestly my parents just made me do it they didn't even ask me if i wanted to do online school and (and no its not cuz of the pandemic that i do online school)
Honestly thinking about doing online school because I hate going to school everyday to just go to school deal with shitty teachers and then walk home. Like ok the friends are chill but honestly I don’t mind being by myself all day. I get time for myself and get to go to the gym and play games.
I have such bad school related anxiety that my attendance is down and its really taking a toll on my mental health, so I'm considering home school because I think it would be best for my mental health :)
I actually want to go to online school, the main thing that is holding me back is socialization and people not looking at me the same cause I didn't get the "full experience" I have bad mental health and physical health and I feel like its holding me back from learning at school, also I found out for the last couple of years I work better at home and get better grades , and I just like being free, I asked my mom and she said she'd support my decision to go online, I'm just torn between having the experience of real school and having the comfortability and safer experience of online school
@@w8nter i switched like a week ago and honestly i really like i can work at my own pace and its helped my mental health, the only downside is social interaction but i dont really mind to much (:
I lowkey wanna do online schooling bc Im tired of the drama I get dragged into daily and not being able to focus on my schoolwork and it would make it easier for me to work on my programming courses
This video was very eye opening. I'm autistic and struggling with several health issues and I feel like normal school has been sucking the life out of me. I'm at risk of failing 11th grade for the second time and I'm getting desperate. I feel like homeschool would give me back my love for learning by making me more in control of my schedule and reducing triggers, but I'm gonna have to work on my self motivation lol. Thank you so much!
@@zaeblet_ thats great glad your enjoy ur new school and ur happier I think I would prefer to join online school but I have 2 questions, do you get lonely and bored- how do you fix it and how many hours of work do u do a day eg. 9-3? Thanks :D
solid video !! i just wanted to add: if anyone has strict parents here & you dont think youre ready for online school or youre already forced into it, something i regret was not fighting back as much. it was terrible for me; i went from being an honors student, about-to-be-placed into higher math placement, and about to launch several clubs like student leadership, varsity dance and cheerleading (or gymnastics) against other schools in our district, introducing pep rallies to my school, etc. to.. losing everything and becoming more like an 82-87% student after being forced into online school just cus my mom wanted to homeschool me to impress people :/ i became incredibly lonely. my neighborhood is full of younger kids and my old school friends were so busy with high school that they couldnt visit or relate with me when we talked. i dont have any strong school ECs either so i also wont be going to my dream colleges and will go to a great local uni but its not the same (PLEASE plan extracurriculars if ur interested in selective/semi-selective colleges). i regret not convincing my mom enough to let me back in to physical classes, even when i was in 11th grade as i now developed ADHD from online school so my graduation is delayed until i finish 10 more courses. i would love to graduate with my graduating class of 2023 but idk if i can even do it before december and it will most likely be delayed until '24. if online school is not for you - its never ever too late (if ur not a senior) to make the switch and get back on track; your counsellor or principal will 100% be willing to help you with the switch. other than that, for people that are interested in online: fully prepare yourself. buy aesthetic supplies to keep your brain entertained/tricked into writing notes, decorate your bedroom with vines, string lights, galaxy projectors, whatever helps -- and make sure your desk reminds you of a neat school environment to train your brain that that's your study space and not your bed. and have a solid morning, meal, and night routine to keep you inclined to do homework daily :) if your online school is asynchronous, it is 100% possible to graduate high school in the same year or within 2 years esp if youre a fast typer; i totally recommend it. teen years are the best year to be free.
I want to do online school so i can finally sleep , i sleep around 10hrs and im always tired no matter what and the people in my school are really annoying, but i wished my parents allowed me to do online school
I was mandated to do online school due to the fact that I need surgery on my leg and the doctor said it would be best if I could minimize the movement of my leg and so far it’s been really nice. The teachers are really awesome and you get a plan to follow in order to not fall behind called pace charts.. basically telling you what you have to complete each week for each class. Edit: it does get pretty lonely as Matt said but make sure you get some sun and eat well because sitting inside all day isn’t good for You, I know this because I literally cannot get out of bed 😭❤️
As an homeschooler just starting my 4th year (in an online school), I would definitely recommend a back up plan for socialization. Some online schools don't allow you to trade personal info with other students so that reduces it more. Take the time to really consider what you can do to get yourself out there and talk to people , unless you genuinely don't mind being a lonely person. That may be useful to only some people. Either way, if getting friends is gonna be a rare opportunity for you, take any chance you have ! I wish you all well.
Yess, I went insane online. I coulden't talk to people. and since my parents go to work its just me in the house. And even worse im not allowed to open the curtain (saftey reasons we have a crazy house next door) So anyways, life was dark.
ive had severe anxiety since i was about 7-8 when my brother passed away. i have an amazing friend group just the four of us but last night i finally told one of my friends i really want to switch to online school for the next year and she asked wouldn’t i be lonely and she told me i could come to her house every other day and i’m closer to her than ever since online school. if you don’t have many friends you can join an activity, you can make internet friends. if you are looking for a sign to do online school. this is it. this is your sign. do it 💛 (also anyone wants to be friends age 13-14 hit me up)
I have a valid reason, I have bad social anxiety and I can’t go to school without crying every morning and feeling sick. Normal school is lonely because I don’t have friends and it makes me skip lunch, my anxiety also gets so bad that I can’t focus on things I enjoy. So I hope online school changes it. My mom is enrolling me tomorrow.
Hi there, keen to know how you got on in the end? Did online schooling work for you? Did you make more friends this way? Did it help improve your mental health?
I don’t have a lot of friends in the first place, some days I want to cry or get myself sick just so I could stay at home. Sometimes at break I stay in the bathroom alone, i never understand at school really well most of the time I have to do my own research. My sleep schedule gets messed up, I end up being unhealthy and schools holds me back from what I really want to do and what makes me happy. I’ve been thinking about doing online school for two years now, I like the comfort of my house, I don’t go out a lot anyway, I am organized ( I plan my days and the work I have to do) pretty frequently. Do you recommend that I switch to online school?
I am sorry this has been the case for you x I wish you all the best and happiness too x I think online school would help u, but staying organised and not getting distracted is hard x
I want to lose those friends. It gives me more time to focus on my sports (4x a week for 8 hours) and I go to youth and church (4 hours a week) then I go to lots more sports out and about (10+ hours a week sometimes) and I have to do 1 week on campus. I can’t deal with distractions, I love to work quietly and my friends don’t help my relationship with God❤
you should think about doing a day in your life. would be cool. show us how home school works, take us through how your day works and how its different from normal South Africans your age. really like your new content. keep it up bud!!
The reason why I want to go to homeschooling is because it’s impacting my mental health I have never had a chance to take a break to fix it and I just love everything about homeschooling
Watching this when I’m already home schooled, but I completely agree with everything you said. I left school due to mental health; many said it was going to be the wrong decision because I wouldn’t be socialising, but I had no other choice because I was scared if I stayed at school I would do something I would regret. I lost many friends, but I didn’t really have many in the first place, I am a person who loves being alone, i like my own company and I love being at home, so online/homeschooling for me was so much better
@@avchene I dropped out of school because I was supposed to move to the US, but things didn't work out as planned. It's only been a month so I tried to get back in but they won't let until NEXT year, so I'm looking to do my Junior year online so I don't have to graduate a year late smh
"Don't do it unless you absolutely need to, you won't see your friend 6 hours a day, get that *face-to-face interaction* " 2020 really said *HAHHH I'LL MAKE THE DECISION EASY FOR YA*
Context: Hey guys! My name’s Emmett, and I’m an A+ student that’s just recently switched to online. I though that I should give another perspective on online school, so here I am! Here’s some of the positives and negatives of online school imo: Positives; Focusing can be really quite easy, especially without classmates who are crazy noisy! You can schedule your day to fit whatever you’d like to do for fun (Ex: the mall), You can be very productive, You can cater a specific learning technique to your learning, You can spend tons of time doing things that you like, And finally, this only really applies to a minority, but, being in online school could be an escape from bullying! The negatives: Lack of socialization, Classes aren’t really organized ‘for you’, so you’ll have to plan your day by yourself, Can lead to a lack of exercise if you’re not motivated to do so, And it can definitely be straining to look at a screen all day (like the person in the video said). Overall, I love my school! There’s something nice about being able to take things at my own pace, and having the ability to contact teachers to reschedule different events. I’d mainly recommend online school to high-academic students, who are already doing well in school. Reason for, is kids who already have a hard time doing well may find it hard to keep up with all of the tasks that online school throws at you. Definitely a solid 9/10! And I’d be glad to answer any of your questions, so reply to this and I’ll answer ‘em!
Hey,I’m from Italy and I became interested in online schooling,I’m glad you like it! 9 is definitely great as a “grade” for your experience, and btw we have ipads and a lot of digital material already,so my school is not so different from the “lots of hours on screen” online one. I hope you’ll graduate soon! Ps 99,99% I’ll do an online college from Italy :))
@@MsMorgan65 That’s really awesome to hear that you’re liking it! And yeah, the screen is honestly the only downside that I care about! And I hope you’ll graduate soon too:)
@@a4_music21 I also recently switched to online and I’m loving it! In my experience the social part is not so much a struggle because online school allows me to have more time for extracurriculars and courses so I can meet people with the same interests as me instead of being stuck with the same kids in a class lol, and I love how you can plan your own schedule. The eye straining problem is real, however since it’s online I can take as many breaks and do other things so my sight doesn’t get tired. I love that in online school you are so much more independent and you don’t have to be in school 8 hours a day, you can accommodate the classes for your own pacing instead of following something rigid. Honestly I hope I can graduate earlier too but it’s nice to meet more online school students :))
I know this is an old video, but thank you so much for taking your time to post this. I'm leaning pretty hard towards online school next year and this helped me to confirm my decision just a bit more. At my current school im surrounded by the worst most toxic people ive ever met. I want to do online school to get away from that and to pursue my passion for surfing because its something I need to travel and save money to be able to keep doing and go consistently. Yes, I have came to realize my social life will decrease, but if i keep those good friends close like you said, I feel like I will be making the best decision. Thank you
I am an extrovert and go online it is not as bad as I thought and I can still meet up with my friends after school and weekends and it is not lonely feeling I have made online friends now
honestly, the point about losing your friends is very true. i used to think i had barely any or no friends, but nothing compares to now that im in online school and they are in school in person. it's unfortunate because my anxiety prevents me from going outside. it has been really hard. i usually spend most days waiting for a text, call, or any form of communication from my old friends instead of doing my work, but it never happens. i'm trying to just focus on online school and forget about it now, but it lingers.
if you've been sitting and waiting for a text or call or any form of communication from your old friends then were they ever your friends to begin with? As their friend shouldn't they check up on you and see how online school has been for you? I know I would...
It's not even about friends especially if you got one more year of school left. Say you just wanna do online because you want it to be yourself and your books. It's all about what you choose to focus on. If you're scared about not seeing friends or social interactions then go to school it's fine. But if you have a strong background in why you wanna do so then don't be afraid to do so. Like I want to go online school so i can start my own catering business and go train at my running club. I'm more focused on my future and where I'm going and want to be more focused on my careers in which I want to succeed in. I know I'll get more time to schedule properly, plan and create when I'm online. Some of us here are trying to make statement out here
It doesn't make a difference for me anyways cause regardless, I have no friends. Worse I'm the new girl at school and I'm anti-social? Yea no.....I don't care about being socially active. It doesn't help me with my studies. During covid I skyrocketed and my grades were never below 80, I actually was able to get assignments done and I learned so much faster and I adapted really well to the change. But at this in-person school, assignments would be given the same day and then be due the same day. What's worse is that I have 10 periods every single day....The schedule doesn't shift so instead of me seeing different teachers everyday, it would constantly be the same teachers. I hate when something is so repetitive to the point where it gives me a reason to not care anymore...I'd randomly just not go to school on some days because of the pressure of everything...My mental health, my sleep schedule and my depressive episodes, they've all gotten so much worse. At this point everyone in my family thinks I have adhd...It was so bad that I'd randomly cry at school begging to go home... I still find it weird that they would even give me an AP (advanced) history class when I know nothing about the country? I literally just migrated from another country and randomly chose to attend this school cause I just wanted to finish my schooling and get my diploma but it's so stressful. Assignments that are given in class need to be finished within the class's time period and I find that impossible, I can't focus on a task for a long period of time and it's hard, especially to think in a classroom that feels like I'm being suffocated every day. The classes are like 30- 45 minutes long. I don't get home til 4-5 pm. When I do get home, my mind and body would be so drained that I'd sleep for 10 hours.... They'd take our phones and we can't get them til around 4. There's hardly any space in the classrooms and the kids are so unsettled, it feels congested. You'd have to pay almost $100 for uniform expenses. They gave us Chromebooks to use but without its charger? Like c'mon? I'm totally gonna switch to online school.... I just don't know how to tell my mom that.... Edit: Just talked to my mom about it..... She doesn't understand me at all.... She isn't even listening to how damaged my mental health is... saying that she (doesn't have the time right now for that)...that she's busy..... so- yea. 2nd edit: it’s already been 3 weeks since I’ve made that comment….and I still haven’t changed to online school yet because they ended up changing my schedule and I thought that things would’ve been better right?….wrong- now? A group of kids are just randomly following me around the school, watching me, laughing at me, making ugly comments about me….is this what they call bullying? I don’t know anymore- I just wanna stay inside and never come out again at this point
hey there, i'm here to say that i genuinely do understand you and i struggle with in person schooling aswell due to my mental health issues and me being anti-social. it doesn't help the fact that i'm autistic and genuinely can't handle being around people since people at school just act so uncomfortably gross and unhinged, im trying to tell my mother about online schooling again (this isn't my first time telling her) i mostly have online friends anyway and i genuinely can't form friendships with other highschoolers since they're more different than i am. i really do hope you're doing alright, best wishes to you and i hope you're able to switch to online schooling soon.
I was bullied very very hard, made and lost all my friends.. kicked and shit and almost got drowned by some classmates. I think its just that the school i went to was shit. Now i dont have any other options but online
I'm on online school because I constantly have to go to the hospital and get procedures done during the week. Also I'm diagnosed with anxiety and because of that I would have panic attacks at school. Being at home is relaxing for me, and if I need to take a day off, I have that option.
This video is so accurate and well explained! I’m doing online school right now, and it’s the loneliest I have ever been. Thanks for putting it out there for people to think about 👏
0:34 yes, just like he said please have a valid reason not just cause you don't like the teachers! Please have a valid reason...and when I say that I mean have a reason so good that your choice between schools will affect your academic performance. Like for example, I switched to online school because I needed certain accommodations for my learning to help me thrive academically and my old school couldn't provide them for me! So, if I had stayed my grades would have been horrible and I wouldn't be able to do what I want to do for Collage/University! Basically, to sum it up, please have a valid reason :)
I like online school it brought happiness and nostalgia I discovered many things and I loved it but my mom says I have tp go back and I love inside quarantine never affected me I don’t have friends I love being at home
Because of Covid, I had to go online during 6th grade. My first year of middle school. I thought it would be bad but it honestly wasn’t terrible. The timing wasn’t the best since I was starting to mature, and go through mood swings which made me very emotional. I think that the fact was that it was a hard time, but online school was a little help. Anyways, I concluded that as the hardest year of my life until I hit 7th grade. In person and it was a living hell. I started to struggle a bit in some classes, which is crazy for me as a straight A student, and I just hated life. I procrastinated like crazy and had mental breakdowns in the bathroom pretty often. My parents tried to help with the little bit that I opened up to them but they didn’t know how bad it was. Summer now has just ended and I’m going back to school in five days or so. And summer was actually really good. Not spectacular, but the most alive I’ve felt in like two years. And now I’m fucking terrified. I’ve been sobbing everyday, multiple times a day for the past few days and I see no end. Im thinking maybe going online for high school can help with whatever phenomenon I’ve been living. But I’m not certain. Everyone in my life has been telling me it’s a bad idea. You’ll have no friends, you won’t be able to do band, you won’t live the high school experience they say. Fuck the high school experience dude. I just want to be happy again. I don’t want to be sad anymore. I don’t want to ruin my life any further tho. I’m so close to giving up and it’s scary. Anyways sorry for the emotional dump but if not minded, some advice would be appreciated :)
I'd recommend you to do it. I'm in the same situation or even worse right now, and I literally do not care about the "high school experience" or the having of no friends. I don't even have friends. I just want to actually learn something.... I just want to be happy... because everything is so pressuring and it's very hard considering that I'm a new student at the school and I had to start my Junior year in the 3rd term. I'm overall new to the whole country and I just feel so lost. People try to take advantage of that too... that I'm new so they'd use me and have me thinking that we were friends... the school schedule sucks ( I need to do 10 periods, each period is 30 - 45 mins and the schedule never changes so I have to see the same 10 period teachers every single day), the kids suck and overall the school sucks. I'm tired, and I just don't think that in-person school is for me.
I'm having a really hard time with my health, ever since school has started, I've been super sick and anxious. I'm wondering if I should start online? But the school year has just started. I just don't think my body is built for this and I dont want to take a bunch of anxiety meds.
thank you for this video!! i hope i will be fine, because i definitely have some SERIOUS hobbies lol! i will draw for three hours straight! i’m lonely at school too, tho :( i am also very self motivated, i rarely have homework because i get it all done at school! i am seriously considering home school and i really think i want to do it next school year.
I was addicted to meth and dropped out during online school(because covid) before that I was a honor roll student who never got under 90…I told myself I would go back and get my ged but if I was also honest with myself that was never going to happen. Im doing online school because my rehab and mental health take up a lot of time and public school didn’t fit my schedule. Im 95 days clean and im getting my life back on track I hope maybe I can find my passion for my education again and be the person I wanna be
I like doing homeschool since I can see both of my parents easier, but gosh it IS hard to stay working on a computer for endless times. I’m trying to build up a better self management, since I’m pretty bad at getting myself to do school. It’s mostly just because of the constant spelling errors in the assignments and those questions that they load with like hundreds of questions though lol Like for example: “When did the Old Stone Age begin? When did it end? When did the New Stone Age begin? How long did it last? When did the Age of Metal begin? Which age was the longest? Which age was the most recent?” By the way, that was only question 1.
If anybody has some good homeschool recommendations, I’d really love to know. I’ve searched up Ogburn school before but almost nobody’s seemed to have heard of it and I’ve already seen like 7 bad reviews on their official website lol
I love it when my mom puts me in online school cause i wanted to go when I was 7 and now that everything in my life has changed she finally decides to put me in and now my whole future has decided to go way downhill and I have to wake up every morning knowing what I said 8 years ago has come back to haunt me
Mostly considering online school cause since day one school has not been it for me. Im being held back but it's hard to explain to adults it's not because I struggle with the subject but the fact being at school makes it hard to do work the one time I got straight A's was at a school I got expelled to, with 5 other students in the class. The next year I went to regular public school was a nightmare grades dropped so low and thats when I realize learning with other ppl was not it. And teachers constantly being demotivating. And it's angers me so much that if 1 of 8 of my teachers or the counselors just walked across the hall and told me to do 2 assignments I wouldn't be considering online school. They said I needed 10 more points to have a passing grade which is literally 2 assignments and no one bothered to tell me and it pisses me off so much. And the whole being lonely things is fine cause I'm moving away and even if I did stay here it was rare to see my friends at school at all
I really want to explore more hobbies and really work on my passion which is music, I do not like waking up early, I really just want to do more and not have the stress of public school on me. Lastly, I want to be happier because I hate going to school everyday.
This is my second yr without face to face interaction. I’m so pissed off right now, my high school was boring and lame. I only have one yr left and I don’t know if I’m going back to my school or not. Here’s my story: *9TH GRADE* Covid started in my Sophomore year. Most of my 9th grade year was normal but the last two months went online. *10th grade* is where things in my life got pretty depressing. I HAD to homeschool because my parents wanted me to (and for other reasons) and I did NOT enjoy it. Whenever I saw any of my friends I would always get super nervous because I haven’t seen them in forever. *11th grade* HERE WE ARE. The present. I am homeschooling once again. I hate this. I want school to be NORMAL AGAIN. My only hope for a full normal year of high school is in my Senior yr. *12th grade* (next yr) I hope hope hope HOPE… school will be normal during this yr. that I WONT be nervous around my friends or anyone I haven’t seen for TWO YEARS. I just rlly want things to go back to normal (with school at least) I just wish I never got taken out of school in this first place.. I feel like I missed SO MUCH of my high school, I feel like I’m growing up to fast and I’m only 16..
My kids have been homeschooled now for 6 years. We are talking about switching over to an online academy school for next year. They will still be in the co-op and have all of their homeschool friends. So, this is just me passing over the teaching to another. I am glad, too.
I have medical problems and online is confusing at first but second day I don’t mind, not waking up at 5am and get to work at my own pace,BUT nobody gonna tell you to do the work so if you don’t you just gonna fail
i want to do online school for personal reasons (having somewhat health problems) and my parents don’t even try to understand me at all. They thinking as like i wanna drop out etc. but that’s not the case I’m having problems.
Star Reyes I messaged my mom, and said “ I’m thinking of looking into online school for 9th grade and the rest of high school “ and she responded with “ your dropping out ?! “ like-
Frosty Gnome i get you. I’m in 10th grade and I’ve told my parents if i could switched to online school and said that as well 😒. they don’t even consider if I’m having problems at all they just no your going to school stop being lazy which I’m not i just don’t feel comfortable going to public school
Can you graduate early doing online hs? I'm currently a freshman and I already skipped 8th grade and my hs isn't really letting people graduate early. Thanks for the cideo this has helped alot!
I wanna do online school so that I only have to do it for a few hours and the rest of the day I want to vomit to my sport and put my all into it. Is this the right move ?
Foolish mindset bro. I had this same mindset but its not worth it not being able to be there and feel them and mostly socliazing through a screen it's not worth it. Friends are the basis success in life
If you're scared I think you will find it is not as bad as you expected and will come to enjoy it in your own way! It's going to be all right.. Life's an adventure and it's okay to succeed or fail or do the best you can at one thing or another until you find what works for you and what you enjoy.
Should I switch to online school if I'm not learning anything because there putting me in dumb classes and I'm alot smarter and I have really bad anxiety and I barely have any friends any way
I cant do this anymore, I started secondary school in tbe UK in September 2020, Ever since December 18th we have been doing online learning and it sucks, We cant take this anymore
You:pls make the learning at home switch reasonable don’t quit in person cuz u don’t want to run laps or something! Me: SOOOOOO YEAH I WANNA GO BACK TO SCHOOL BUT COVID U KNOW...
I take my 7 year old to the park almost every day and boxing lesson 4 x a week,I have a husky,my brother has a five year old,my daughter 28 has a 6 ,and 8 year old .😂🎉FULL SOCIAL LIFE FOR THIS HOME SCHOOLED KID ☺️
hey can someone help me? i don’t have any friends at school (but i do have them outside of school), my mental health is really bad and i have an eating disorder + i just honestly hate going to school and spending 7 hours of my day with people i don’t even like. should i start online school?
Yeah man go ahead I had friends in school but they were these girls who were b!thes and got me in trouble every time for no reason and got offended with anything I said the teachers hated me I got tired of this and went online now I feel so much better
Hi my mom wants me to online school now because of the virus she feels it's safer but I really don't want to and I do not want to lose my friends and am not very self motivated. What should I do
I do online school currently i can say i feel miserable, I used to feel normal going out when i used to do in person, and it was easier to talk to people and now i cant even like have a normal conversation anymore it makes me feel to awkward. like i dont even feel normal anymore💀 like online school is so bad it gives me anxiety to just go out now.
I’m currently in my junior year of high school in the most competitive public school in Toronto. It’s really a struggle to get good grades but I’m a decent student. I have this question about online school, are you allowed to sign on whenever you want and do your course for the day? I have to sit and struggle for an hour and a half straight just to get decent grades but one of my friends, who has the same smarts as me graduated in his junior year because he did the extra work ahead. He’s now working trades and I’m thinking if it’s good to rush through online school to finish with really good grades and work until I am able to go to university. This is what is troubling my mind right now.
The thing is with me is that yes I may have lost my school friends but since I've had so much more free time I get to do more stuff and have made friends online in games
Is it valid to say I’ll be more motivated to do it on my own time for example say I work better at night and that’s when I do my homework now then I’d just do my classes at night
It was my first year of high school today and with the virus I’m honestly terrified because I don’t wanna get COVID because a lot of people Ik who got it passed away. I really don’t wanna go back because I don’t want that happening to me and my family. I thought it was gonna be cool and fun but no it wasn’t. I really wish I had the courage to tell my parents this but I know there gonna say no. I know I’ll lose a lot of freinds and miss out on being a teenager but honestly I don’t care I can’t go out any way. I’m try and get over it tho.
Don't really agree with the video it is possible to keep an active social life without school, and just because your homeschooled or online schooled doesn't mean you can't join any clubs or groups to make new friends. Also I honestly see homeschooling as a great way to develop discipline and self motivation two useful skills that you will need the real world while it is nice to have your teachers annoy you to get your work done that is not how the real world works or like college. Better to struggle it out in homeschool so you will be prepared for college or the real world were you are actually at risk or losing money or opportunities. Think about it would you rather struggle with self motivation now and just get over it and build discipline or would you rather learn that while in college when you're at risk of losing ten of thousands of dollars.
I love how the main argument against online school is losing friends or not being able to talk to your friends... like as if I had friends to start with

I’m probably doing it this semester and senior year because of anxiety & mainly to graduate early lmao
yea i wish but my parents wont let me but i have the same problem as you its pretty sad
to anyone who sees this i got accepted into online classes for this year!!!! im so excited
i suffered all throughout my junior year and maybe made like two or three friends while constantly being anxious because of my social anxiety its not worth it
hey, so I know i’m a bit late on this, but i’m in 8th grade and really am considering doing online school for all the way through high school.

@@zaeblet_ thats great glad your enjoy ur new school and ur happier I think I would prefer to join online school but I have 2 questions, do you get lonely and bored- how do you fix it and how many hours of work do u do a day eg. 9-3? Thanks :D
solid video !! i just wanted to add: if anyone has strict parents here & you dont think youre ready for online school or youre already forced into it, something i regret was not fighting back as much. it was terrible for me; i went from being an honors student, about-to-be-placed into higher math placement, and about to launch several clubs like student leadership, varsity dance and cheerleading (or gymnastics) against other schools in our district, introducing pep rallies to my school, etc. to.. losing everything and becoming more like an 82-87% student after being forced into online school just cus my mom wanted to homeschool me to impress people :/
i became incredibly lonely. my neighborhood is full of younger kids and my old school friends were so busy with high school that they couldnt visit or relate with me when we talked. i dont have any strong school ECs either so i also wont be going to my dream colleges and will go to a great local uni but its not the same (PLEASE plan extracurriculars if ur interested in selective/semi-selective colleges). i regret not convincing my mom enough to let me back in to physical classes, even when i was in 11th grade as i now developed ADHD from online school so my graduation is delayed until i finish 10 more courses. i would love to graduate with my graduating class of 2023 but idk if i can even do it before december and it will most likely be delayed until '24. if online school is not for you - its never ever too late (if ur not a senior) to make the switch and get back on track; your counsellor or principal will 100% be willing to help you with the switch.
other than that, for people that are interested in online: fully prepare yourself. buy aesthetic supplies to keep your brain entertained/tricked into writing notes, decorate your bedroom with vines, string lights, galaxy projectors, whatever helps -- and make sure your desk reminds you of a neat school environment to train your brain that that's your study space and not your bed. and have a solid morning, meal, and night routine to keep you inclined to do homework daily :) if your online school is asynchronous, it is 100% possible to graduate high school in the same year or within 2 years esp if youre a fast typer; i totally recommend it. teen years are the best year to be free.
Edit: it does get pretty lonely as Matt said but make sure you get some sun and eat well because sitting inside all day isn’t good for
You, I know this because I literally cannot get out of bed 😭❤️
what online school did you do? i want to find one that’s right for me
What school did you attend?

As an homeschooler just starting my 4th year (in an online school), I would definitely recommend a back up plan for socialization. Some online schools don't allow you to trade personal info with other students so that reduces it more. Take the time to really consider what you can do to get yourself out there and talk to people , unless you genuinely don't mind being a lonely person.
That may be useful to only some people. Either way, if getting friends is gonna be a rare opportunity for you, take any chance you have ! I wish you all well.
Yess, I went insane online. I coulden't talk to people. and since my parents go to work its just me in the house. And even worse im not allowed to open the curtain (saftey reasons we have a crazy house next door) So anyways, life was dark.
what if u have ur sister to keep u company? do I still have to find another way of socialization?
I’m considering it. I’m sick of having to put up with people lol
ive had severe anxiety since i was about 7-8 when my brother passed away. i have an amazing friend group just the four of us but last night i finally told one of my friends i really want to switch to online school for the next year and she asked wouldn’t i be lonely and she told me i could come to her house every other day and i’m closer to her than ever since online school. if you don’t have many friends you can join an activity, you can make internet friends. if you are looking for a sign to do online school. this is it. this is your sign. do it 💛 (also anyone wants to be friends age 13-14 hit me up)

My mom is enrolling me tomorrow.

Jeez I feel sorry.
Did you ever switch to online?

I want to lose those friends. It gives me more time to focus on my sports (4x a week for 8 hours) and I go to youth and church (4 hours a week) then I go to lots more sports out and about (10+ hours a week sometimes) and I have to do 1 week on campus. I can’t deal with distractions, I love to work quietly and my friends don’t help my relationship with God❤
you should think about doing a day in your life. would be cool. show us how home school works, take us through how your day works and how its different from normal South Africans your age. really like your new content. keep it up bud!!
The reason why I want to go to homeschooling is because it’s impacting my mental health I have never had a chance to take a break to fix it and I just love everything about homeschooling
social anxiety, COVID, and i’ve wanted to be in online since freshman year. hope my application gets accepted 🤞🏽
Him "you're gonna lose some friends" Me "YES!!"
Watching this when I’m already home schooled, but I completely agree with everything you said. I left school due to mental health; many said it was going to be the wrong decision because I wouldn’t be socialising, but I had no other choice because I was scared if I stayed at school I would do something I would regret. I lost many friends, but I didn’t really have many in the first place, I am a person who loves being alone, i like my own company and I love being at home, so online/homeschooling for me was so much better
i’ve been traditionally homeschooled my whole life and going into highschool next year and will be switching to online school so wish me luck lol

Context: Hey guys! My name’s Emmett, and I’m an A+ student that’s just recently switched to online. I though that I should give another perspective on online school, so here I am!
Here’s some of the positives and negatives of online school imo:
Positives;
Focusing can be really quite easy, especially without classmates who are crazy noisy!
You can schedule your day to fit whatever you’d like to do for fun (Ex: the mall),
You can be very productive,
You can cater a specific learning technique to your learning,
You can spend tons of time doing things that you like,
And finally, this only really applies to a minority, but, being in online school could be an escape from bullying!
The negatives:
Lack of socialization,
Classes aren’t really organized ‘for you’, so you’ll have to plan your day by yourself,
Can lead to a lack of exercise if you’re not motivated to do so,
And it can definitely be straining to look at a screen all day (like the person in the video said).
Could you plz tell me what onlin school did you attend?
I’ve been thinking about going online. What online program did you take? Also the program you took did it have any extracurricular classes?
I know this is an old video, but thank you so much for taking your time to post this. I'm leaning pretty hard towards online school next year and this helped me to confirm my decision just a bit more. At my current school im surrounded by the worst most toxic people ive ever met. I want to do online school to get away from that and to pursue my passion for surfing because its something I need to travel and save money to be able to keep doing and go consistently. Yes, I have came to realize my social life will decrease, but if i keep those good friends close like you said, I feel like I will be making the best decision. Thank you
All extroverts on homeschool: it's lonely, very very lonely, the agony...😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hey I know it's late whatever U going thru it's going to pass, plus if U felt like online school was the best for you then fuck other people 😉
if you've been sitting and waiting for a text or call or any form of communication from your old friends then were they ever your friends to begin with? As their friend shouldn't they check up on you and see how online school has been for you? I know I would...
Bro is a vampire. Just go outside you loser
Thats sad to hear, hope ur situation gets better soon
hey there, i'm here to say that i genuinely do understand you and i struggle with in person schooling aswell due to my mental health issues and me being anti-social.
it doesn't help the fact that i'm autistic and genuinely can't handle being around people since people at school just act so uncomfortably gross and unhinged, im trying to tell my mother about online schooling again (this isn't my first time telling her)
i mostly have online friends anyway and i genuinely can't form friendships with other highschoolers since they're more different than i am. i really do hope you're doing alright, best wishes to you and i hope you're able to switch to online schooling soon.
Hi have you switched to online school?
I was bullied very very hard, made and lost all my friends.. kicked and shit and almost got drowned by some classmates. I think its just that the school i went to was shit. Now i dont have any other options but online
Only one thing I can say from this video... Homeschool sounds freaking AMAZING introvert btw self-motivation is my everything
I'm really interested in home school
I'm gonna try it out!
Online schools can work in USA in order to avoid school shooting
Did you got Online School?
@@AnimeKidGod1 No, but I’m deeply considering it for high school

Im doing online school because my rehab and mental health take up a lot of time and public school didn’t fit my schedule. Im 95 days clean and im getting my life back on track I hope maybe I can find my passion for my education again and be the person I wanna be
i'm so glad you're recovering and trying to get your life back together. you've got this ! :) ❤️
I like doing homeschool since I can see both of my parents easier, but gosh it IS hard to stay working on a computer for endless times. I’m trying to build up a better self management, since I’m pretty bad at getting myself to do school.
It’s mostly just because of the constant spelling errors in the assignments and those questions that they load with like hundreds of questions though lol
Like for example:
“When did the Old Stone Age begin? When did it end? When did the New Stone Age begin? How long did it last? When did the Age of Metal begin? Which age was the longest? Which age was the most recent?”
By the way, that was only question 1.
If anybody has some good homeschool recommendations, I’d really love to know. I’ve searched up Ogburn school before but almost nobody’s seemed to have heard of it and I’ve already seen like 7 bad reviews on their official website lol
I love online school but my online school assigns more than 30+ assignments every week, im only in 8th grade..
Me who actually HATES social interaction
Here’s my story:
*9TH GRADE*
Covid started in my Sophomore year. Most of my 9th grade year was normal but the last two months went online.
*10th grade*
is where things in my life got pretty depressing. I HAD to homeschool because my parents wanted me to (and for other reasons) and I did NOT enjoy it. Whenever I saw any of my friends I would always get super nervous because I haven’t seen them in forever.
*11th grade*
HERE WE ARE. The present. I am homeschooling once again. I hate this. I want school to be NORMAL AGAIN. My only hope for a full normal year of high school is in my Senior yr.
*12th grade* (next yr)
I hope hope hope HOPE… school will be normal during this yr. that I WONT be nervous around my friends or anyone I haven’t seen for TWO YEARS.
I just rlly want things to go back to normal (with school at least)
I just wish I never got taken out of school in this first place.. I feel like I missed SO MUCH of my high school, I feel like I’m growing up to fast and I’m only 16..
I feel the same way so what I’m planning on doing is after my 1st semester I’m gonna finish my last year in highschool
My kids have been homeschooled now for 6 years. We are talking about switching over to an online academy school for next year. They will still be in the co-op and have all of their homeschool friends. So, this is just me passing over the teaching to another. I am glad, too.
You need to be very dedicated and committed, I'm on two and a half years now. You have to be very disciplined
Facts
El CavsGG we need plan on how to convince them fr 💀
Star Reyes I messaged my mom, and said “ I’m thinking of looking into online school for 9th grade and the rest of high school “ and she responded with “ your dropping out ?! “ like-
Frosty Gnome i get you. I’m in 10th grade and I’ve told my parents if i could switched to online school and said that as well 😒. they don’t even consider if I’m having problems at all they just no your going to school stop being lazy which I’m not i just don’t feel comfortable going to public school
@@cybjoon Are you on online school now? I will be going into my 11th grade and I am thinking of doing online school
Coronavirus got me watching this 👀
Can you graduate early doing online hs? I'm currently a freshman and I already skipped 8th grade and my hs isn't really letting people graduate early. Thanks for the cideo this has helped alot!
Him: it’s really lonely bc you don’t get to see your friends
Me: what friends 😀✋
I wanna do online school so that I only have to do it for a few hours and the rest of the day I want to vomit to my sport and put my all into it. Is this the right move ?
If it puts less pressure on you then go for it all you
what’s the best online school program?
If i were to choose between my friends and future, i would choose my future.
I can make better friends along the way to the top.
Foolish mindset bro. I had this same mindset but its not worth it not being able to be there and feel them and mostly socliazing through a screen it's not worth it. Friends are the basis success in life
UGHHHHHH I HAVE TO DO HOME SCHOOL AND IM SCAREDD
If you're scared I think you will find it is not as bad as you expected and will come to enjoy it in your own way! It's going to be all right.. Life's an adventure and it's okay to succeed or fail or do the best you can at one thing or another until you find what works for you and what you enjoy.
I am the only one at my school still doing online clases.
well this didn't age well
Should I switch to online school if I'm not learning anything because there putting me in dumb classes and I'm alot smarter and I have really bad anxiety and I barely have any friends any way
I suggest you do online. If you are young you still have a chance to do it. Just gotta explain to your parents in depth why this is the best for you.
@@carzia_speed2235 my mum was the one that segested it to me and I've been thinking about doing it but I don't know

hey can someone help me?
i don’t have any friends at school (but i do have them outside of school), my mental health is really bad and i have an eating disorder + i just honestly hate going to school and spending 7 hours of my day with people i don’t even like. should i start online school?
Yeah man go ahead I had friends in school but they were these girls who were b!thes and got me in trouble every time for no reason and got offended with anything I said the teachers hated me I got tired of this and went online now I feel so much better
I'm not considering online school. I am forced to take it.
thank you for your input on homeschool vs. online school.
Finally, a comment section where I feel belongingness
School is getting cancelled in Croatia due to the COVID-19, were going to have an online scholling system for some time.
My reason is because the school system is fucked in the US
agree, good reason
Do u need an issue with school to do home schooling or can u just go for it ?
You can just go for it , it’s all your choice !
Matt Menton okay ty !
Matt Menton and is it alot of money ?
It’s about the same as normal school would cost , maybe less
Matt Menton oh right thanks
Thank you Matt. It really helped me a lot....
Hi my mom wants me to online school now because of the virus she feels it's safer but I really don't want to and I do not want to lose my friends and am not very self motivated. What should I do
My advice is to try and visit your friends, do activity’s with people etc! If your doing online school still just don’t give up! 🙂
Me personally I need time off I can't with school right now and my aunt needs as much help as she can so
I do online school currently i can say i feel miserable, I used to feel normal going out when i used to do in person, and it was easier to talk to people and now i cant even like have a normal conversation anymore it makes me feel to awkward. like i dont even feel normal anymore💀 like online school is so bad it gives me anxiety to just go out now.
What online school program do you do?
What about it’s for coronavirus
The thing is with me is that yes I may have lost my school friends but since I've had so much more free time I get to do more stuff and have made friends online in games
is switching to online school because of an outbreak of corona at my school and because i hate ppl, a valid reason to switch?
Back in spring I didn’t have to do neither, I was free, got 3 extra months off, March April and May.
Is it valid to say I’ll be more motivated to do it on my own time for example say I work better at night and that’s when I do my homework now then I’d just do my classes at night
what school do you use?
It was my first year of high school today and with the virus I’m honestly terrified because I don’t wanna get COVID because a lot of people Ik who got it passed away. I really don’t wanna go back because I don’t want that happening to me and my family. I thought it was gonna be cool and fun but no it wasn’t. I really wish I had the courage to tell my parents this but I know there gonna say no. I know I’ll lose a lot of freinds and miss out on being a teenager but honestly I don’t care I can’t go out any way. I’m try and get over it tho.
When you don't have a choice anymore yay *cries inside*
If you don't wanna go to real school because bad social anxiety just still go, it will make your social anxiety better 👍
What online program are u taking?
I have really bad social anxiety at school but I don’t know good and inexpensive homeschool programs for seniors
Which online school didu attend?
