    Im really thinking of doing online school for my sophomore year but I’m just conflicted. I don’t have much friends and most of my classes were lonely last year. I have social anxiety and depression wich is why I want to stay home this year. I have no energy or motivation to have to get ready every single morning.
    I’m just scared because I’m already a very isolating person and I never leave the house. That’s one of the only things I’m kinda worried about because I’m afraid I’ll drive myself insane if I stay home the whole time. Not sure what to do honestly I’m stressing out

    • @Masirah.h
      @Masirah.h 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I have exactly the same issue and I was also stressing whether to do online or not but I finally decided to do online but to prevent myself from isolating, I decided to volunteer and follow a healthy schedule to heal my mental health because honestly while I am at in person school, I don't get time for my self care, but at online school, I can focus on myself which will be good for my mental health, I would suggest to volunteer every other day to prevent isolating yourself. I hope this helps you! Make this year for yourself and focus on your mental health and education!

      This is really good advice! This is probably one of the hardest parts of doing online. Volunteering is really good, or if you're able to, getting a job can be really good for socializing! Finding hobbies I enjoy also helps me stay sane when I have free time lol. I would have never been able to start youtube or really any of my other interests if I wasn't doing online. I know how it feels tho to be in this situation, it's really stressful. I also find it's really good if you can schedule any type of event, or even just make plans to go to stores, parks, walks, anything to get you out of the house can be so helpful!

    My rant about online school experience
    I am in of honor society, Nanowrimo, the young writer workshop, and the writer workout. I have a 3.37 GPA out of a 4.00 GPA, 22.50 credits out of 24.00 credits, and a top 3 in my class rank. My mental health and physical health issues result me dropping out of high school when I did a gap year to focus on my health before I finished my senior year to make the transition more simple. I am going to finish high school this year and head to post-secondary school right after I finish high school. I applying for dozens of scholarships and financial aid, I will be applied around 15 types of different scholarships plus financial aid and apply for the SAT/ACT exam with special accommodations and a fee waiver including two college applications.
    I am in an online private high school. Before you ask any questions, I have been held back twice in middle school and elementary school due to my disabilty and behavior at school results in them to hold me back and I took a gap year right after I finished 11th grade and before I headed to my senior year so I took a gap year. I did online schooling in my freshman year and half of my 8th-grade year in second semester but then went back to public school in my 10th grade and 11th grade, now I am finishing high school online as my senior year.

      @@susyreyes74 I go to a school called "International Schooling" that is the name. To enrol you just have to contact the admin and ask for the requirements needed to join the school, the price varies for each grade, the amount of courses you take and weather your classes are one-to-one, group, or self study. It is quite affordable though. It is different for everyone and it might take a while to find what works.

    I’m in my freshman year right now and Im thinking about switching to online. I don’t have any friends or social skills in general because of my horrible anxiety , i eat lunch on the bathroom floor everyday because the cafeteria is loud and nobody would let me sit with them anyways,I get made fun of because I don’t have the motivation or energy to put effort into my appearance , I’m already tired once I get to school because I have to walk every single day(I’m late almost everyday). Work is easy, but I cannot do it with people talking and making loud noises so I say I’ll do it at home. Once I get home I’m physically and mentally exhausted and can’t do anything, I have to choose between free time, a shower, or doing homework because I barely have the energy to do one. And I feel so unaccomplished because I’m not in any clubs or sports and by the time I get home and get comfy its already dark (my school lasts till 4:30pm) and on top of all of that i live in a constant mess until saturday when I have the time and energy to clean. I don’t want to isolate myself socially but i feel like it wouldn’t make a difference either way.

      Hii, I was in your exact shoes a few years ago! I left public school a few months into my freshman year of high school (and covid was right before that). In just my personal experience, high school was no better for me than middle school was (as far as being unhappy in public school) but I know so many people thrive in high school! If your thinking about leaving public school and you live in a place where you can get out often, or you do sports, or any extra curricular activities outside of school, or if you already have friends you can keep in touch with, those things can all help a lot with loneliness! (not that you'll automatically be lonely, but in the event that you are). I don't think leaving in middle school will be much different than if you were to leave in high school (unless you met new people or had a better time in high school, but I know the feeling of just wanting to get out of there.) I know this can be a really hard decision, but regardless of what you end up doing, nothing is permanent and everything will work out! :)

      Hii! I am hoping to make another video about this very soon, but I use acellus and I personally like them the best out of any program I've tried. I answered another persons comment more in depth, but in summary it is very self paced, I do not have to do video calls with any teachers, all of my work is graded electronically (which I like because it allows me to move ahead quickly) I watch pre recorded videos of each teacher teaching their class and then answer the questions/ worksheets that follow, and they also provide additional workbooks you can look at if you ever get stuck or confused on any questions. I'm happy to answer any other questions you have, but I hope this helped!

      I personally am not looking to attend college (for the time being anyway) but if I wanted to go I absolutely could! As long as you do a credited online school program (which you would also need in order to get a diploma, and you almost always have to pay for those) I believe you can still get into any college the same as if you were in public school. Some colleges look for online students, others I'm sure are more hesitant about them, but generally I think it's about the same as being in public school.

      Hii! I've been in the exact same boat! I work through Acellus and the most time consuming part was getting my credits transferred. We basically called and did it over the phone but since I had gone in and out of public school a few times, my credits were a little messed up (which meant I had to take placement tests and talk to lots of people lol). If this is your first time tho, they should be able to just do it online or over the phone and it really shouldn't take more than a few days (if not sooner) (although I think it really depends on the program you choose.) It's gonna be okay tho! I also struggle with social anxiety and know how it feels to be hanging on by a literal thread in public school. I promise if you stick it out a little longer, things will get better. Good luck!!

    I have struggled with lots of stress and anxiety while being in public school, I have been doing lots of research and decided that online school would be the best decision for me. I know that online school is at your own pace, but how long do you have before an assignment is actually due? I tend to learn slower than most people at my school, so I fall behind quickly, do you get a few weeks or even a month to get things turned in? Also, would you say that your grades improved when you started online school?

    • @Morganriley333
      @Morganriley333  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hii, I'm sorry for the late reply! With the program I use, there is no deadline for any assignments. They let me know when I've completed a days worth of work for every subject, which is how I know I've done enough work for the day. I can skip a day, a week, or even a month, but I'm pretty sure I do have to have everything completed by a certain time during the year (I'm not exactly sure when that is because I've never gotten to that point) so it really is up to me to keep myself on track. As long as you are able to discipline yourself enough, this can be really great if you learn slower! I've always had a hard time with math and I was drowning in public school because I always needed extra help, and there was never enough time. With this, I can spend as long as I need on my assignments, and it works much better overall (that is just my personal experience tho!) As far as my grades, they are muuuuch better than they were in public school. Overall I'm able to actually focus on my work and I feel like I'm truly learning. In public school I was constantly distracted and uncomfortable and it was effecting my grades a lot.

We were also on the phone with someone briefly and they were going over payment information, but if there is more that they have to tell you, I'm sure it will come up during enrollment. A lot of the time they just tell you everything you need to know up front (like on the website and everything) but it just depends on the school. I know every school operates differently and I wish I had more information to give, but thats really all I did to get started.

      Hii, I know how you feel, starting online school can be really overwhelming! You're right about it not being talked about very much! Finding a program was honestly one of the hardest parts. It's really hard to know if the program is right for you until you do it. Of course you cant really just sample a bunch of different schools because I know theres payments and its a whole process. I tried multiple different ones before I settled on Acellus Academy, and I personally like that one the best. So with Acellus I do not have to do any video calls with teachers and there are no set times that I have to be on classes (but that is not the case for every school!) Basically all of my classes are laid out on a student page, I can click on them in any order and do them at any time. All of the teaching is just pre recorded videos that I watch and answer questions on afterwards (there is a teacher for every class but I do not interact with them at all). All of my work is graded electronically and I just answer whatever questions come after each video. It is very self paced and I can watch as many videos at one time as I want. I am hoping to make another video about this for my next upload (if not the next one, then the one after that lol) and I hope I can explain better there. I know there is a lot of unknown, but I promise it's not as scary as it seems. Once you choose a program, it's usually very self explanatory to navigate (if it is a good program). I wish I could tell you more about how to find a good program, but really all I did was google them and read what all of them had to offer. I really hoped this helped a little, good luck!

      Thankfully, my parents were very supportive when I told them I wanted to do online school, especially because they could see how drained public school was making me. I'm very grateful they were understanding, but I was definitely worried about how they'd react at first! Of course every family is going to react differently, but my biggest piece of advice is to just be as clear as you can when you present the idea to them. Gathering the biggest reasons why you want to leave public school, and how you think online school would be better for you (wether it's because you'd be less stressed, you think you'd learn better, you want to be more independent, you think it would improve your mental health, you'd have time for other hobbies you enjoy) or whatever the case may be, that might help them to hear you out more. If you haven't asked them already, good luck! :)

    thank you so so much for this video. i’m 13 and in 8th grade and public school has NEVER benefited me. it always causes me so much depression and anxiety and it’s SO incredibly draining and stressful. im really hoping i can get approved for the online program my mom is trying to approve me for. from your experience, it sounds like this will be very beneficial for me! 🩷🩷
