i’ve been doing online school for 5 years as of 2023 and i kinda regret it. the only difference is i get to sleep in, it doesn’t get easier and nothing changed except i’m alone 20 hours a day.

It’s called social anxiety. I used to have severe social anxiety but I overcame it and life is a lot easier when you’re not worrying about everything. If you need tips you could ask me 😁👍
Oxy clean I know this comment is directed to Heather but I'd actually love to know ur tips on overcoming it cause right now, I find school to be a miserable experience and that is partially due to having social anxiety.
a. .for. .aesthetic, these are the things that worked for me.
*changing my mind set
I started telling myself that as humans we are equal and nobody is better than anyone else. I also told myself that people are most likely not judging you because they’re to busy thinking about their own problems,insecurities, etc. and if they are judging you don’t think of it as Bad judging think of it as someone thinking about how good you look I also told myself that if someone judges me it’s okay because they are a human being just like me, no more,no less and that their opinion about me shouldn’t matter.i also started Tell myself that I shouldn’t be afraid of people because they’re just people that are on the same level as me (I know I said this 1,000 times 😂 but it’s true)
Something that frequently came to mind is the “mistakes” or the “embarrassing” things I did that day and I’d feel so bad that it ruined my day and I couldn’t sleep without thinking of it. But I finally got that nobody else is thinking of it and that tomorrow will always be a new day.

i do online school and it’s super fun but you gotta prioritize extra curriculars, volunteering, and/or working in order to not go insane because the social isolation is real lol
Ariana That’s what I’ve been trying to do! I want to take ballet classes and writing classes and also work for money I can’t do all three of those things in a public school or else I might get myself sick or have a serious anxiety attack. I don’t care about being isolated by the way those are just things I want to do.
Kiara Thompson yes i work, volunteer in community theatre & do online school and also travel a lot and i know i would never be able to do all that in public school. i will be going on my 5th year this junior year and i love it so much, definitely recommend. i hope it all works out for you

I’m in year 8 and I’m thinking about doing online school because I want more time to do hobbies and activities without being held back by school. I want to make my future by actually doing what I want to do, not learning about unnecessary facts.
lizXcul exactly! They teach us random stuff we won’t ever use at any job. They should teach us actual skills like how to cook, how to do taxes and stuff like that. They should also let us have classes to improve on our hobbies and other skills

@@mbzz.6920 But at least its self-paced, the requirements seem to never go away, probably won't for another 50 years if the new generation doesn't do anything about it, but the online schools give a better approach and easiest one for each individual kid. The traditional school focuses on a classroom and doesn't care if 1 or 2 kids are behind, in fact, the whole class but 2 or 3 star pupils could be behind, the teachers focus on the favorites and hate the slow learners. The teachers who work with each student actually care weather they are faster-paced, or slower-paced, public schools needs to understand that one student isn't the same as the next.

i get the bullying thing, but completely isolating your self from the world is not a good idea for when you have to go to college, get a job, etc.. online school is fine but you definitely shouldnt isolate yourself from everything. also with online school you cant exactly sleep in, most of them have set times you have to be online for your lesson

Honestly... the last thing I’m worried about going into online school is having a social life. I’ve been a pretty big introvert for a long time, and I honestly don’t mind it plus I can meet people anywhere, like a skatepark, museum. Etc.
I've been in virtual school for about a year and a half now (?) and I have had the best time. except for the rocky beginning, which is way too detailed to get into right now. it was basically the teachers' dimwittedness that made me lose an entire month of progress in the first semester. I myself really like virtual school. im normally an antisocial person and don't have friends (which im personally fine with. I have a loving family including some online friends)
one thing I hate is the stigmatization around it. maybe im overreacting but many people become very judgemental of the idea of a virtual school. if I tell someone I go to virtual school they give me weird looks or just are generally dismissing...
I personally don't encourage students to just enter virtual school to make education faster and get out quickly. the only reason is becuase I had no other choice. I was in a wretched school situation that left me crying and depressed and constantly afraid. there were many semi- traumatic experiences while I was there. all of this was played up by my anxiety disorder.
it was either my mental health or staying in a public school so I could be "normal".
also if your still here one tip I have for virtual school is to have a planner. anything works. just write down your week and stuff will go much smoother.

I’m about to be in middle school, I’m 11. I started online school at the end of fifth grade, and I’m going to be homeschooled for middle school. Middle school can be so hard because ppl are changing so much and you really don’t need to think about what she said, because you are younger, and if you want to keep doing after school activities like sports, you can. I do choir after school, so don’t worry homeschool is great! It is overall the best thing that happened to me!

Just threaten them however you can, and if they don't love you, call social services, its unacceptable for you to be miserable and getting to the point of suicidal thoughts. I see and hear thousands of kids killing or wanting to kill themselves because of school, its maddening nothing is being done about it and the system just goes on with life on a regular day when they should be changing it first.

If you do online school you need to do hobbies or sports. Also for the socializing aspect you can join a club or start a job or maybe even volunteer places to get lots of interaction. Without keeping yourself busy your gonna go crazy.

I’m homeschooled and I have actually been hanging out with my friends a lot lately, then I thought. I’m going swimming with them on Friday so I’m staying in touch in them.
Friends come and go like cars on the interstate. Education is important. Why worry about something in 5 mins, if it won’t matter in 5 years. You can’t guarantee your friendships will last but your education will remain throughout the years. Think about it.

I think one thing about socialising and being home/online schooled is that you're only friends with people at school is because you're at school, if you are actually close with people at school you will put in the effort to still be friends with them. I have about 15-20 friends from church, youth group, dance and people from my neighbourhood.
I have been homeschooled since grade 1. I have a great social life, manly because some of my friends are adults and I've learned great things from them. I would never go back to a public school

Im currently in 10th grade in a regular school, ive already made friends that i can talk too outside of school and ive kept my friend circle small because if you have to many friends you might get invited to two birthday parties, parties, movies, etc... so im good.😌

ok so I got out of k12 in 2020-2021
I didnt like it.
I had 7 subjects
I was bad at mostly all of them EXCEPT p.e.
all I had to do for p.e. was lie about me getting fit everday.
each assignment in each subject takes me about 3 to 5 hours because I take notes.
& when I take notes, it's not the "imma just write down what's important" kind of notes. I copied word for word on my notebook because I didnt want to stay behind, I wanted to be smart like everyone else on there.
and my memory was bad, so I HAD to do that.
anyways, what tored me apart was the amount of emails I was getting everyday by my teachers saying that I needed to check my grades & that I was failing & that I need to attend their classes to get help.
I attended their classes before, they didnt understand what I was saying (english isnt my first language btw)
so I just said, nevermind I got it now (I planned to not attend any classes for now on & just focus on the assignments in each subject)
I couldnt finish the 1st 2 assignments or the ones after that, the assignments were too long & my brain couldnt take any more information.
so I started to cry.
I sent messages to 4 of my teachers saying that I was working on it & that I'll catch up.
I didnt catch up☹
that school was too stressful for me to coninue.
I'm also planning to not speak english anymore, I'll be better without it.
I tried avoiding eating or getting up from my seat to catch up on my homework, nothing worked.
I dont wanna learn anything anymore, it's not interesting to me.
my passion is drawing.
I dont care about money, which is why I'm not going to sell any of my art.
i hate this phone, it gives me a headache, imma make sure my house doesnt have any electricity in it.

K12 Sucks I did the online school and it wasn't for me so when I decided to go back to public school they didn't send my grades in so I had to do the grade all over with my friends in highschool and me still in middle school

Late sorry but: I am homeschooled and I have been my whole life and Online school is public school at your house Not homeschool at all. when they put "Homeschool Online" it misleads everybody.
My mom is the one who decided that i'll be doing homeschool. Her reason is that after gym (which is necessary to pass a grade) you have to take a shower, and there are multiple trans students so she doesn't feel comfortable knowing that
im a super social person and i don’t have a problem with school on good days honestly. i really do enjoy going. but im finding myself having a hard time to get myself to go because i have depression and i feel like putting no effort to even go and i feel like i don’t have a reason to go, but i feel like if i did online school at least for the rest of this school year till i have a better mind set and go back to high school next year i can do it. school has been so hard cause i zone out and can’t focus because i hate the environment cause i feel i have to fake a smile. i really like school work too. im an all honors kid but it’s just my mental health stopping me.

It honestly all boils down to you and the school you choose, for me I really like my school they have clubs and other fun things where I can meet up with other kids and teachers. The work is pretty easy and I’m actually LEARNING something. I have friends outside f school so I meet up with them and have fun almost everyday. Doing online school you just have to make your own fun and get out and do you own thing

I’m starting online school because my social anxiety has gotten worse, and I’m getting bullied on the daily. The one condition is that I need to join a social activity like karate or a book club. I’m excited.

If you had friends before online school be prepared to lose them after. I’ve doing my third year of online school now and I do think it’s worth it but the social isolation sucks.
I’m in k12 this year and I HATE IT. It’s just to much you have to handle compared to regular school. You have to have a certain amount of hours on PE and HEALTH!! then on top of that you have tests and a daily plan you have you REAL LIFE and then sometimes your friends come home from school ( if you have Houseparty). Your constantly getting destructed from the notifications and then you have to stay on top of you email make sure you also have lunch and breakfast AND DONT FORGET TO GOT TO ALL YOUR CLASS SESSIONS it really bad I have no time to myself! At first I loved it but now it’s petrifying. Don’t EVER do k12 at least or do ONLINE SCHOOL AT ALL.

OH SNAP! that happened to me. I also vented on my channel about it. Thankfully it all came together in the end. I do OCVS in Orlando and it lines up with my high school. This way I can dual enroll for a class. Sucks they wouldn't hook ya up.

Tegan Gie i did k12, and it’s different for other people. I in my opinion, didn’t really like it.. but I would recommend connections academy. It’s super easy to work around, and the people there are super nice!

When the whole country is forced to attend online schools
I hate being homeschooled, but I’m forced to finish this year, and next year (my first year of highschool) because we’re moving. But thankfully starting 10th grade, I can go back to public school.
you keep telling me i won’t have a social life but i don’t want one lmao and please don’t say anything scary about it i’m super exited!
A lot of people be saying oh well I don’t have friends so it doesn’t matter. Honestly SAME
The few things that really irritate me about online school is 1) there isnt (what I noticed) many occasions to meet people and talk to them 2) MY SPANISH TEACHER DDINT FACKING SPEAK ENGLISH 3) I magically get all English teachers to hate me 4) you get yelled at by some teachers if you dont go to class every session even if your internet is down 5) there is soooo many writing assignments.
But other things are really really good about it. Those were just the few downsides
That and I failed a class the last year (spanish because I had to drop it so I technically failed it THOUGH THEY DROPPED ME OUT OF IT ANS I DIDNT HAVE A sayyjfkfkkfkfm) and so they wanted me to do Insight along with my other school so I would be taking double of each class just to make up those two classes ... tf (i didnt join btw)

My public school does a program called Apex and kids can do half online school if they want and part time public school, or they can take one class from high school, and the rest on Apex. Or vise versa , and when I did Apex it was a pretty good program, but I decided to go full time high school, if you want to do duel enrollment check what the alternative high school is doing for their program. I'm sure the counselor would let you.
You don't have to join the alternative school you can do it entirely from home, and take classes like art class from your local high school
My social worker and I really want me to do online school. I want to finish school a year early to work full time for a year, cause I plan to study abroad in Italy for my degree in fine arts. School is very terrible for me, it destroys my mental health and I can't sit for that long. I really think online school will get me where I need to be.
