I am sorry about your brother. I too cried the first time that I heard this song. It's just so honest and joyful. Here I am almost 3 years after first hearing it giving it another listen.
I found this a few months ago and I keep coming back to it. Not because it's a marvel of technique or anything like that, but because it is honest, and joyful, and expresses the hope at the center of the song just as well as the album version, in my opinion. That is worth more than virtuosity in my book. You've actually brought tears to my eyes while listening to this song. I love it.

Always has been and always will be the ultimate test... a cover on an acoustic guitar! If it it sounds good on an acoustic that means a song has solid songwriting foundations, whatever the genre may be!

@@gpthoss You should tabulate your version, its excellent, you've pretty much totally nailed it. The tabs online aren't very good, whereas yours sounds 100%. I've been trying to play this myself, but haven't got it just right, if you tabulated your version, that would be great.
@@jezza10181 "preciate it. What I did was begin with the old live version, which was always my favorite. Then I took in the regular studio version and found the good stuff that the live version didn't use and worked it together. Standard tuning, but tuned down for my range.
