    That was a great video. Thank you. Been struggling with this for weeks, was convinced it was a driver issue and did a fresh install of windows. Those pesky connectors.

    I use the rare earth magnets for herding minuscule screws too. I disassembled my notebook to confirm good clean and tight connections on each end of LCD cable. I believe my problem is a bad LCD panel since connecting an external monitor, using the VGA port, works fine. My HP 2000-2b19WM LCD displays a gray-blue background and bottom third all the way across has a lighter tint of gray-blue. I also see faint dark rectangular box, about 1 mm width sides, about 1 inch in from all edges of the LCD display. Don't see anyone else with the same thing on TH-cam yet. Pretty sure I can fix it with a new panel for about $60 (US). Anyway, I liked your video and I'm off hunting for confirmation of my problem near and far.

    Omg I wanna thank you so much! I fixed my own laptop who had the same problem! I have one question, maybe you can answer it too. One of the screw in the case is stuck. It isn’t the had that is broke but the the thread I think. I can move her without problems but she doesn’t go more in or out. Did you have that problem once?

    i have a problem where the screen keeps going dark. Just did what you did with the connection and there was no improvement. The connection seems solid. Do you think it is a problem with the screen or cable. Sometimes the screen lights up depending on how the monitor is tilted.

    I get a greenish pinkish tint screen on my asus n550jv.
    I connected it to an external monitor it worked fine. So it either the lcd screen or the cable. However the edp cable is connected perfectly. But maybe just maybe there is a problem to the cable which hurts the performance?
    Is there a way to check if the edp cable works fine?

    • @devichee
      @devichee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Best to do is, just replacing the LCD Cable, since it will change that. And they range from 5-20$ usually about 6-12$, so getting a new one won't hurt for you either way.

  • @MsOmgnowai2
    @MsOmgnowai2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    in the video it mentions that if the lcd connector doesn’t “click” it’s not fully in, but no matter how many times I put it in it doesn’t click. is there something I’m missing?

    • @pldaniels
      @pldaniels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not; some are worn or already loose that it doesn't click; so long as the shark-tooth its in the recess and there's no gap between the connectors you will be fine... and ultimately, so long as it works :D

    Isn’t it bad practice to use magnetic screwdrivers?

    • @pldaniels
      @pldaniels  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's the theory behind that one? Magnetic drivers probably save quite a lot of drama/issues by not losing screws down in to the abyss of cases.

    • @Mashyyoup1998
      @Mashyyoup1998 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Due to the magnetic current from the driver? They can actually cause issues on displays/motherboards/chipsets...

    • @pldaniels
      @pldaniels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In the old days with CRT monitors, yes, magnets could cause dramas and you'd have to degauss the screen (sometimes it was so bad you couldn't ever get it right again). However, that aside, I've seen no reputable reports to indicate that magnetic tip drivers can cause issues.
      Consider that in a spinning hard drive, there's a whopper of a neodymium magnet right next to the electronics and platters to no ill effects ( and while there's a level of shielding / field-shaping a lot of that magnetic flux .does extend well beyond the area of use )
      The strength of the magnetised tip on a screw driver is too small to impart any ill effect, let alone permanent damage to this sort of equipment.
      There is a case in the iPhones with the compass IC where we have to use non-magnetic screws next to it else it influences the accuracy of compass, but again, that's not damage, that's just influencing the sensor, much like walking past a hill containing magnetite

    • @Mashyyoup1998

      Fair enough!
      Thanks for the insight!
      I'm currently in studies for Application Development, and as we took a hardware class, were told it was bad practice.
      Thanks for backing your answers!

    • @pldaniels
      @pldaniels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting term they used "Bad practice"; perhaps they feel it's lazy? Realistically, I'd not like to do a lot of the work without a magnetised tip on things like iPhones, simply to difficult to manage such small screws otherwise.
      On PC assembly, I can see that one could get away without needing a magnetic driver, not as much trouble, though laptops I'd not want to be without one, so many of the casing screws are recessed in to the body, wouldn't want to try undo them, tip laptop over, wait for it to fall out... repeat.
      Best of luck with the App dev course.

  • @silkehackenberg9482

    I DO NOT BELIEVE MY GOBBLIN EYES! IT HAS TURNED ON: HALELUUUUUUUUUUJA. unfortunately, it is now in the repair loop, with no restore points and reset also not working. Trying to find the black screen source I disconnected the HDD (I also have SSD and HHD in mine). So maybe now the wrong disk is put for bootup? I tried to change it in the BIOS which was pretty annoying because it only gave me the option to change boot devices once I set it into legacy mode, but none of the options worked.
    I kind of have the feeling that the solution is pretty simple but I cant quite get to it. Or maybe is there a way to get my data somehow? most of it is on the ssd, and having the laptop open I did not see it, so I think it is probably not removable. Maybe you have made another video about something like this? you seem to know your stuff...
