For the ladder trick, you might want a chair or even few wooden blocks to secure under the engine bottom and stop that bike from spinning around. I heard Fortnine years ago reverted the footpegs, secured with jacks then jacked the bike on a ladder.
Either way I guess. Wish you the best with your project!
