I really like both the D3 and the D3 pro. For really windy days outside though, the Rode Viceomic Pro+ is amazing, although it doesn’t sound quite as natural as the Deity microphones. Andrew’s support is amazing too so it is a difficult one bewteen the Rode and D3 Pro.
my rode video mic GO broke a few years back so i asked my buddy to bring his AT875R for an interview on a film project. got back to the studio and totally hated the sound of it and thought the AT875R sounded way too top-heavy, almost unbearably so. luckily since i had never used it before, i was also using a backup lav mic on the talent and that totally saved the shoot. might tell him to invest in the deity now that they’re all coming such long ways ahead of the old tech. great review tho, i had always been wondering about a comparison like this!
I appreciated the insights about the AT875R, which I use occasionally if for some reason I want the mic off camera. And I really think it rocks, but I use it with the XLR to my regular audio interface, recording on my PC - not with a 3.5mm adapter direct to camera. All good to know, so I won't try using it with the camera.
I think the AT875R sounded the best. A lot fuller sounding. Definitely what I'd pick out of all of them, unless you don't have a recorder (but if you're serious about content creation you should have a decent recorder). Then I think the VideoMic NTG would be best.
You mentioned the terrible preamps on cameras, I’m sure this is true is some cases; however, I’ve never had a problem with my two GH5s, my GH5 ii, or my GH6. I shoot multicam live theatre, concerts and dance shows.
15:09 okay that right there definitely surprised me! I found that #4 sounded the "cheapest". I got some slight zoom call vibes with that one. 😖 #2 on the other hand sounded very pleasing and balanced. #1 & #3 also sounded good. But I have to say that I'm just some regular guy looking for a good mic and no audio engineer. Also I'm pretty sure that sound is getting colored by my headphones, there really good but a bit bass heavy. 😅
Always check the Camera Compatibility List on the Deity Website before connecting the V-Mic D3 Pro to your camera. It will tell you if you need a different cable or adapter.
I still feel that the videomic ntg sounded more fuller, with more body and the deity did have some hollowness to it maybe a bit more top heavy, definitely not for me, I will probably go with the Video Mic NTG
Hey awsm vdo ❤️. I needed a mic for a tech channel (talking head vdo) I have 3 choices Deity d3 - 120 usd Deity d3 pro -220 usd Rode ntg - 335 usd ( Prices in my country) Camera - sony a6400 with sigma 16mm Which mic should I go with ?
The two best mics were deity v3 pro vs audio technica AT875 The Option 3 aka Audio Technica sounded slightly better.... however the full package the Deity wins.
It seems that this mic is a direct competitor to the Rode VideoMic NTG. I had one of these and it died. Watched your video because I was shopping for a replacement.
Are you looking for an on camera shotgun mic again? I might be able to help you find one that will work best for you. What are you usually recording? Indoor or outdoor? And what camera do you use?
Bro!!!! I need your help with the xlr adapter. I have the rode vxlr plus and the video mic ntg. What should phantom power be set to on my zoom h4n pro? Should it be 24v or 48v? I really can't afford to replace any of these components so any help is appreciated
Yep, they have a couple available. I did a review of the Deity S-Mic 2s not too long ago: th-cam.com/video/tHJMGZfrWgk/w-d-xo.html It is a great mic! It is the short version of the S-Mic 2.

I was probably going to click Like on the video anyway, but the Kitty Purr Test cinched it for me. Well done sir.
I could get the Deity D-3 Pro for 40$ I think it´s unbeatable for this price. Sound very nice. :) Thanks for the comparison!
I have nothing to say about this mic, I'm just commenting to boost your engagement
Hell ya! My guy!
Super review. Bought this mic today. This confirms my beliefs about it. Nerd on 🤙
Love your reviews and videos, whether I'm researching or just being entertained it's always great, keep it up!
Thank you very much!
Glad I don’t need one myself. It would be hard to decide. The kitties loved it.
Thanks for the filmmaker sound test!

I just bought this mic on sale for $99 I think it’s worth the price
So you can connect the deity d3 pro to a computer right?

I've used that adapter to the Røde NTG with my Zoom H5 and I had it set to +48V. Works perfectly!
@@AudioHotline word! Does this make me a professional now?
Holy cow, mic 4 sounded the worst out of the lot. It's a tie between 2 and 3 imo.
they also have a shotgun mic right ?
