Arc'teryx - MOVE

  • "We all try to be busy instead of being alive, busy instead of getting out and breathing, busy sending useless texts instead of walking in the woods with our kids or introducing them to life's joys. We move information instead of simply moving," says Arc'teryx athlete Will Gadd in this ode to action and movement. Acknowledging how hard it is to carve out time for exercise in our daily lives, Gadd's passionate words remind us how important it is to get outside, breathe hard, and create meaning through movement. After all, as Gadd says, "Life's more fun when you move."

      So... That left me with the assumption that dude is a trust fund kid. Wine rack behind his head, while he feeds his kid, preps for (picked his poison: Jog/climb/hike), in Suburb, USA. Yeah, that describes daily life in my real-world? I was simply trying to compare Carhartt prices vs. All-Others. I landed on this ad, and thought to myself; “I have to go lay down (bolt down) 2x10s to the foundation of someone else’s house tomorrow in the rain... I just wanted a good raincoat. This cat told me my life sucks, essentially, because I can’t go enjoy one of my hobbies tomorrow..... Now I just feel like an asshole, because there is a group of people that think I failed at life... My-B. I’ll do better next time. I’ll renovate your Aspen crib when the time comes. I could, for sure, use some of that money.

      @@monkg3291 I get what you’re saying, I’m a broke blue collar person as well but I didn’t feel that way after watching it. I felt inspired to get outside and live instead of doing my mundane daily “chores”. We all get wrapped up in the day to day but We’ve been provided with a beautiful country that is free to explore! I took it as “get off your ass and enjoy what’s right in front of you.” ❤

    This is how I got here: I watched The Bourne Legacy and at around 16 minutes I caught a glimpse of a logo on Bourne's red jacket (meeting his friend in the mountains scene) , it read *ARCTERYX*. I knew it had to be some kind of a special brand and found this commercial and ....wow!...Not cheesy but truly inspirational! This should be on TV 24/7!
    So far one of the most honest and genuine motivational commercials, not even a commercial to be honest, more like a motivational video

    Great advice for the world to hear. Canmore is nice but as a Calgary boy I find myself paddling up the Bow River on my 12' 6" race board to be an awesome escape to the world of movement. Road biking is the 2nd on and at work I stand on an Active Office Board and keep moving all day. Thanks for the sharing and keep moving!

    Almost forgot to return and tell the tale of the 100K :-)
    In short - nothing less than amazing !
    3 laps of 33K.
    1st was business as usual.
    Towards the end of the 2nd I hit rock bottom ,
    and the 3rd was the most awesome experience of raising back from the ashes.
    Finished 13th overall after 11:48 hours.
    Proposed to my girlfriend right before crossing the finish line !
    (symbolically, the ring traveled all of the distance with me)
    Thanks again for being part of the inspiration.

    Valid points, no doubt; the things we do are popular for good reason: They're badass. But as far as surfing is concerned, we often have a limited window of opportunity when it comes to swells and conditions, particularly for East Coasters like myself. So a packed lineup means fewer opportunities for everyone. There's no way around it, though, and it certainly doesn't keep me out of the water.

    I'd just LOVE to see Arc cook up a nice line of no-rash baggies using one of their moisture-shedding, all-way-stretch textiles. Throw on a waterproof zippered pocket high on the hip and an articulated hem at the waist and a nice Dead Bird logo across the butt... I would buy. Start with trunks and transition to wetsuit tops, etc. Not a big line of gear, just well-crafted, durable, and activity-specific, exactly what Arc is known for.

  • @GroundStudies
    @GroundStudies 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was looking at those and that's a great place to start but not quite optimal for surfing, mainly due to the belt/buckle system, and one pocket is all you really need. Add a lace-up fly with a neoprene flap to protect the vitals and keep them from opening all the way should they come unlaced. Either way, it's awesome to have contact with someone at Arc regardless if something ever comes of it or not. And thanks for the Instagram follow (Adventures_of_Easy)!

  • @GroundStudies
    @GroundStudies 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's a big mainstream push within surfing right now and it's created somewhat of a rift; a lot of guys aren't interested in seeing it gain huge popularity. Aside from that, mere mortals like myself are tired of paying top-dollar for sub-par gear that doesn't last, and I'm tired of seeing it being sold in malls and big-box outlet stores. It shows that these corporations are in it only for the money and have lost sight of the purity of it all. That's where an outfit like Arc can step in...

    We all make choices and compromise where we will. We all have free will. He chose to place movement at the top of his list and dedicated his life to it, and now reaps the rewards of that investment. You chose your own road, as I mine. I sit at a desk 60 hours a week on purpose, just like I bike to and from that desk with the same intention. There is no equipment required to move. What is your point?

    There is a similar sentiment within the climbing community too, but I find that pointless and selfish. More climbers means more people who enjoy and appreciate the sport. More climbing gyms, more open access to crags, and better equipment. The people that we like - be they athletes or equipment manufacturers - get more recognition. The very nature of extreme sports attracts a certain persona, and no matter what, there will be a limited pool of interested people (than in, say, baseball).
