Can't thank you enough for this video -- This is what stopped me from putting in the new glass this morning.
This is very helpful, knowing how to get the door trim and curtain roller out w/o damage. Thank you. Couple of tips/notes: 1) the curtain clip must be pushed up, not down, and even then the roller assbly fights coming out. I needed to pry it from the top with a 2nd screwdriver while holding up the clip. 2) There are a number of small connectors that need to come off before pulling the door trim, including a tiny bulb that illuminates the interior latch. The plastic "lightwave" will snap if you are too rough pulling out the bulb (squeeze the connector "wings" to release). 3) the window does not need to come out, so you do not need to fiddle with those trim pieces. Just tape it up and out of the way, the regulator has plenty of room to be replaced...4) when moving the motor over to the new regulator, there were tabs that blocked laying it directly over the screw holes in the regulator. It had to be installed just outside the tabs, and the cables pulled to rotate it in position so the screws could be installed. Don't try and turn the motor gear by turning the body of the motor to make the alignment.
Just replaced the rear passenger door regulator for the second time. Your video helped in removing the shade. I also had to replace the rear lock actuator and watched your video on that too. Great stuff, muchas gracias!

So a Murphy's law scenario happened with my back left door and this video absolutely saved my ass. I needed that window closed and it was stuck open. It was about 40 or 30° outside and I had a feeling it was going to snow in the morning turns out I was right.

Yo sir. you have the best intentions of trying to help everyone with how to remove the rear shade but you are mistaken. It is pushing the pin-up in order to remove it. Keep it up...thanks for your videos...

I luv your videos, I have a BMW X5 E53 and I have been able to complete the regulator replace, brake job.. At my age I cannot spend oodles of cash on repairs, so I am thrilled with videos like yours that enable me to complete some repairs myself. The only issue I had with all of this and related was a problem I had with the interior handle while doing the rear passenger regulator replacement.. I re - viewed and never got the point where I could have prevented breaking off the interior handle unit. a 10mm wrench loosened the bolt for me to slide up the broken piece. I used JB weld to reattach and did put it back in place, so all worked out, but it was an easy snap off that you may want to note on the video. Thank you for your posts!!!!!

Correction: You only simply need to gently LIFT the tab (accessable through the small gap shown). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUSH DOWN.

Yea, I was getting pissed trying to push down before I looked at the disconnected clip on the video and was like... you gotta pry that clip up! Haha. Good video nonetheless.
Another great video by BM, thanks! I like to use duct tape to keep the window up and out of the way, but removing it prevents it from falling and getting damaged, or injuring the tech ... good advice, safety first!
This was very helpful. I didn't know how to remove that small shade screen. However, I found that you do not need to remove the window, or the rubber track it sits in (or the 2 screws holding that in.) Instead, just disconnect it from the regulator, then unscrew the regulator from the door, and then move the window into the closed position as you remove the window regulator.

About the "pin" holding the sun shade trim in place, it was stated to push down on the pin to remove it. This is wrong. You must insert your flathead screwdriver up under the metal and pry up instead of pushing down.
My glass just fell down on my truck (x5 4.6is) and I had no clue how to fix it till I saw this video

My head nearly exploded trying to take the sunshade off by trying to push the tab down as you explained. I finally looked at a very helpful Pelican Parts.com instruction online and realized you are supposed to gently pry the clip UP instead and it easily comes off. You should take this video down

how did you remove the panel without snapping off the screen? I did the same thing and the screen snapped off because the little metal clamps held it on. you were either super lucky or did something beforehand. any idea?
Does the outter trim need to be removed also if you only want to get to the regulator? Or can you just proceed and remove the regulator without removing the top outer trim?
To keep the camera focus don't have it on auto-focus. Zoom in on something far and focus, then zoom out. The lens will stay focus and not jump out of focus like that.

Question, the window stuck and won't go down can't reach the bolt. Please advise
Remove the bolts on the motor and remove it. Makes sure your supporting the window first. I use 2" wide painters tape to tape to secure the window in the up position so it won't fall. Remove the tape and ease the window down to where you can get to the bolt.
There is no pin. And you keep saying you push it down, that's incorrect, you LIFT the clip.
