    Psychologist are real every day heros.
    My favorite day of the week is when I get to spend 1 hour with my Psychologist. If you could please remember to thank them for their investment. They're amazing people.
    Honestly, the most amazing people . Thank you.

    Good Afternoon!
    I'd like to thank you for posting this video, I found it extremely helpful for me as it helped show me that becoming a Psychologist is definitely something I'd like to do. It also helped me complete a job shadowing assignment for school.
    Thank you!

    I’ve had my master’s for about 8yrs now. Would you suggest getting licensed before going for my doctorate or is it a waste of time? I’m a military spouse so moving around has made it a challenge to get licensed.

    I'm a 17 year old.
    I wanted to know at what age I can be a psychotherapist?
    Can I work at a hospital?
    If I get into a hospital , will I get a patient as soon as I get into the hospital?

    I have a question for you doctor, it's in the area of Empaths, basically empaths take on the energy of their environment. I don't exactly understand what that means. What's the energy they keep talking about. Also does that make me vulnerable to empaths, like if I want to keep my feelings private. Can I do it when I'm with an empath. It's scary to think someone reads you like an open book. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

    What’s a basic timeline of your whole psychology career starting at college?

    • @drkristencasey
      @drkristencasey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Great question. My first video discusses this in more depth, here’s a nutshell version:
      Bachelors: 4 years
      Masters: 2 years
      PsyD: 4 years (these are normally 5-6 years, I was in an accelerated program)
      1-year post doctoral fellowship
      Total training: 11 years

    What advice would you give someone who is considering studying either medicine or psychology?

    • @drkristencasey
      @drkristencasey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I was in the same boat when I was considering career paths! I really had to figure out what my job would look like (e.g., daily routine, salary, location, opportunities other than my full time job, flexibility) in accordance to my values. For example, one of my values is human connection. I asked myself, “what would be the way to connect deeply with others in a helping role?” Psychology seemed to fit that for me personally.
      See my video on how I decided here: th-cam.com/video/qqopBMxj74A/w-d-xo.html

    Can I become a PsyD if I have a MS in Mental Health Counseling?

    • @drkristencasey
      @drkristencasey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see why not! I know someone who had a masters in counseling before their PsyD program. I’d think it would make you more competitive if you had a prior degree
