The Governors Awards, presents Honorary Oscars to Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, Carol Littleton, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Michelle Satter. The four Oscar® statuettes were presented at the Academy’s 14th Governors Awards on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Los Angeles.

All what was said is so true. I meant Angela Bassett years ago in Norfolk Virginia. She was attending a golf tournament. At the hotel that she was staying waiting in the lobby she took time and spoke with my young daughter. She gave her kind words and a big hug. She took her time speaking with her and gave my daughter a huge complement. My daughter and I never forgot. Much love Ms. Bassett.

Wow!! I can’t imagine anyone else delivering such an amazing introduction/appreciation speech for the amazing body of work that Angela Bassett has and continues to consistently deliver!! Two of the absolute best that the industry has to offer…everything about this moment is just exceptional! I still hate that the Oscars never got it right and failed to award her for her once in a lifetime, forever memorable, and ICONIC portrayal of Tina Turner - but I guess an Honorary Oscar is okay. 🙄
