On OS that stretch of the former line looks promising. But, the filled-in bridge and the precipitous cutting at that point must have come as a disppointment. The map seems to indicate that it might be possible to begin from the other end and reach the filled-in bridge. No doubt you have found a solution to the problem, so look forward to a future video on this fascinating old line. Great stuff.

HI Ron I enjoyed that. I liked the preamble and we got to see the cutting even if one was from above, heck of a feat of engineering, still good to see. Nice to be out and about even if it was only on film. Keep them coming (Heavy rain again tomorrow). Keep smiling. Ron

Hi, Ron. Yes, more thunderstorms possible tonight. A shame, it had just started drying up quite nicely. Take care. Ron.

    Thank you Ron!
Oh, gosh! This rain! I was hoping to do a Dorset & Somerset Canal explore in April and continue with The Severn Way walk, but still too wet underfoot!
Wow! That is a serious cutting! Well done for braving it and bringing it to us. Such a shame about the bridge infill.
    Great video!
    Cheers,
    Paul

Very frustrating, Paul. It had just started to dry up nicely, and I’d got everything prepared for a shoot this weekend. Now we are almost back to winter conditions again. Very frustrating, and next week isn’t looking good either. Cheers. Ron.

Thank you for the walking tour this day. I’m in a wheelchair suffering with ALS, and never get back to the UK to walk these sights. Always a fine video to watch. Enjoy your weekend ahead! Cheers Ron! 🇬🇧👍🙂🇺🇸

Thanks Ron another great video, I had a look at the cutting from the Salt Way and like you thought best not venture down into it, the skew bridge is a beautiful construction but alas never ventured onto it, the parking always looked tricky, always remember Hampen Cottages further up the road whilst working for CDC ghen Fosseway Housing, good old days.

Hi, Glynn. If it ever dries up again I think the slope on the Andoversford side of the bridge is the best access. I did try to scale the other side whilst I was filming, but far too wet and slippery. Yes, remember doing a few repairs at Hampen Cottages, back in the Fosseway Housing days. Good times. See you in Andoversford for the next video. Cheers. Ron.

Thank you, Malcolm. The other access point is off the Hampen Bridge, on the A436. There seems to be an emphasis on ‘Private Keep Out’ signs as you walk back towards the cutting. If it ever dries up enough I can climb down the bridge infill (carefully), on the Andoversford side. It just wasn’t worth the risk back in February, far too slippery. Take care. Ron.
