    When Sonny Turner joined the group in 1959, The Platters were already a popular group in the doo-wop scene. But chart-toppers, like “I Love You 1000 times” and “With This Ring,” made sure to solidify their name in history. The group went on to have hits like “Only You” and “The Great Pretender” featured in several Hollywood films.
    Larry Chance & The Earls
    These pioneers began their musical career singing on the street corners of the Bronx in the late 1950s. They quickly evolved into a group that would define the rock n roll sound. The incredible vocals earned the group a nomination to the Hall of Fame and the Doo Wop Hall of Fame with hits like “Life Is But A Dream.”

    The Rob Roys is not only famous for their smooth voices and soothing harmonies, but it was one of the first interracial groups to take the country by storm. Since 1957, these Rob-Roys have been singing hit after hit in concert, with such billboard toppers like “Tell Me Why,” and “Dream Girl.”
    Jimmy Clanton
    Formerly known as the ‘swamp pop R&B teenage idol,’ Jimmy Clanton is by far one of the most famous teen idols in American entertainment history. The R&B culture that permeated Louisiana heavily influenced the New Orleans native, and as a result, Clanton reached Billboards Top 10 several times throughout his illustrious career.
