It seems convenient on a superficial level, until you think about it for more than a few seconds, and realize that every problem this product might theoretically solve is already solved better and for free by the resources they already _need to have_ in order to access it in the first place. If you have a computer, and internet access, and you know how to navigate technology well enough to, A: Find this thing in the first place, and B: Actually successfully operate it, you would also have the skills and resources necessary to find and access free online services that do all the same things, without needing to go through Steam as a middleman. This product is designed to market to a demographic that doesn't exist.

For real though, some of the old ladies who volunteer at my church heard I was looking for a small travel Bible and gave me a pocket version of the New Testament and Psalms entirely free. I haven't needed it yet because all travel plans were halted by the pandemic and ensuing war, but it was very kind of them.

The only worthwhile thing in that pack was the unique "Browning" weapons, and they were so meta that they ended up being added to every other faction anyways.

Weirdest part of this to me is that I used RenPy for some projects and this is so obviously made in that program. The format of the menus, the options that don't make sense like Save and Load, it's all the default formatting of RenPy

As a graphic design student, I appreciate the Very Good design that went into this game/ebook. Especially in the quiz, when you get the wrong answer and the "wrong" text is just the same size as the other text and it's placed right at the top of the screen so its as unituitive as possible to read. Like they had one text box as their base for all the text elements that they use for every screen. Anyway, Im sure a lot of Bible fans will find this game a big rowling
I also really appreciate how the "wrong" screen is nothing other than just the one word. the bare minimum that could've been placed there is a reference number so you can find the answer, or preferably, just show the answer as seen on its page underlined

But besides all this, whether they were tied to a boulder, or had stones thrown at them, the end result is the same. To be stoned was to be put to death.

Upon seeing that pause menu (notably the saves screen) I can very confidently say - this "game" was made using Renpy. Renpy, for those unaware, is a free platform used to make visual novels, most notably known for DDLC, as well as the (amazingly good) cult classic of sorts - Katawa Shoujo. The reason I can so confidently identify the platform used is thay this is very clearly using one of the pre-built layouts baked into Renpy, showing even more heavily how much this should not have cost money. (this also shows why the history tab exists and also sucks - it's designed out of the box for visual novels, where each entry of text is a normal sentence or two max (generally dialog/thoughts) usually, not the ludicrously long rambling sentences of the Bible, and they couldn't be bother to fix this before releasing it for money.
I like how your examples are generally pretty decent and semi respectable games, instead of the ones I immediately thought of. I suspect the Bible has a thread somewhere asking for a replay gallery, happens to them all

I was more pointing out the Bible is using the same engine as some truly explicit visual novels. The kinds that get banned from Steam, Patreon and file hosting sites. No hate towards the engine or free game tools in general (I used Unity for ages before Unreal, which is also free for me), just pointing out the sharing an engine with DDLC is not as bad an association as sharing an engine with DDL, if you get the reference

as someone who uses ren'py (the system used to make this game) for hobby, I recognized the system as soon as I saw the load button on the main menu (the preferences button, actually, is what gave it away). some funny things I noticed as the video continued. -there are little to no difficult code pieces from what I know of renpy. i believe everything shown is explicitly in the tutorial. the only thing I'm uncertain about is steam achievements but I imagine that's simple if you use some sort of steam API. -the clicking of the bibles in the beginning is done with map clicking I believe. -im unsure how passage choice was done but i do think it was default -bible search is the only thing I don't actually think is default! good on them, however, this did come in patch 1.1 of the bible. that was all really :) it was a very bearbones game and it was likely done by either a bunch of tech illiterate adults trying to relate to the youth or a couple of teens who thought itd be funny given the amount of code put in. im leaning towards teens solely because bandcamp and the 1.1 bible search patch.

For real though, some of the old ladies who volunteer at my church heard I was looking for a small travel Bible and gave me a pocket version of the New Testament and Psalms entirely free. I haven't needed it yet because all travel plans were halted by the pandemic and ensuing war, but it was very kind of them.

@@lemyon8293 I know some reviewers who got early access to it said it was the "star wars sequel trilogy" of Bible dlc, but honestly I loved Episode 8 so that sounds good to me. Plus, the mechanic where God punishes evil people with dark skin sounds like it'll change the meta for the better
The only worthwhile thing in that pack was the unique "Browning" weapons, and they were so meta that they ended up being added to every other faction anyways.

Weirdest part of this to me is that I used RenPy for some projects and this is so obviously made in that program. The format of the menus, the options that don't make sense like Save and Load, it's all the default formatting of RenPy

As a graphic design student, I appreciate the Very Good design that went into this game/ebook. Especially in the quiz, when you get the wrong answer and the "wrong" text is just the same size as the other text and it's placed right at the top of the screen so its as unituitive as possible to read. Like they had one text box as their base for all the text elements that they use for every screen.
Anyway, Im sure a lot of Bible fans will find this game a big rowling

I also really appreciate how the "wrong" screen is nothing other than just the one word. the bare minimum that could've been placed there is a reference number so you can find the answer, or preferably, just show the answer as seen on its page underlined

Another example is in John 8:58-59 where Jesus says the famous "Before Abraham was, I AM" and the pharisees picked up stones to throw at him. But besides all this, whether they were tied to a boulder, or had stones thrown at them, the end result is the same. To be stoned was to be put to death.

Upon seeing that pause menu (notably the saves screen) I can very confidently say - this "game" was made using Renpy. Renpy, for those unaware, is a free platform used to make visual novels, most notably known for DDLC, as well as the (amazingly good) cult classic of sorts - Katawa Shoujo. The reason I can so confidently identify the platform used is thay this is very clearly using one of the pre-built layouts baked into Renpy, showing even more heavily how much this should not have cost money. (this also shows why the history tab exists and also sucks - it's designed out of the box for visual novels, where each entry of text is a normal sentence or two max (generally dialog/thoughts) usually, not the ludicrously long rambling sentences of the Bible, and they couldn't be bother to fix this before releasing it for money.
Haha yeah. the first thing I thought after seeing those long faded menu buttons was "They slapped this together in Renpy!" Minimal effort!
I like how your examples are generally pretty decent and semi respectable games, instead of the ones I immediately thought of. I suspect the Bible has a thread somewhere asking for a replay gallery, happens to them all

No hate towards the engine or free game tools in general (I used Unity for ages before Unreal, which is also free for me), just pointing out the sharing an engine with DDLC is not as bad an association as sharing an engine with DDL, if you get the reference

The Old Testament is an English translation of a Latin translation of a Greek translation of an Aramaic translation of the Ancient Hebrew Torah.
The Torah and the Old Testament are the same, with the latter being translated a couple times.

They patched out the infinite food glitch
as someone who uses ren'py (the system used to make this game) for hobby, I recognized the system as soon as I saw the load button on the main menu (the preferences button, actually, is what gave it away). some funny things I noticed as the video continued.
-there are little to no difficult code pieces from what I know of renpy. i believe everything shown is explicitly in the tutorial. the only thing I'm uncertain about is steam achievements but I imagine that's simple if you use some sort of steam API.
-the clicking of the bibles in the beginning is done with map clicking I believe.
-im unsure how passage choice was done but i do think it was default
-bible search is the only thing I don't actually think is default! good on them, however, this did come in patch 1.1 of the bible.
that was all really :) it was a very bearbones game and it was likely done by either a bunch of tech illiterate adults trying to relate to the youth or a couple of teens who thought itd be funny given the amount of code put in. im leaning towards teens solely because bandcamp and the 1.1 bible search patch.

One more: Jesus said whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart; have you ever looked with lust?
Well I’m not judging you - but if you’ve done these things then you’re a liar, thief, blasphemer and adulterer-at-heart; that’s how seriously God takes sin. He is Holy (perfectly good/righteous and separate from sin) which means that H e is perfect in justice - and if He were to judge you by the moral law (we’ve already looked at 4 commandments) would you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or H***? The answer is h*** - the wrath of God upon you for your sin. Is that concerning?
But fortunately, God’s will is not that you perish. He wants all men everywhere to be saved. So do you know what He did for us guilty sinners? In self-giving mercy, He sent His Son Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life that we should have lived - tempted at all points and yet He NEVER sinned. Through His life, being in very nature God, He revealed God to men; but we in our hatred condemned Him to death. On that cross as Jesus suffered, He took on the sin of the world and was judged in our place; receiving God’s wrath. You and I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid the fine. God can justly forgive us.
On that cross He died, then He was buried, but 3 days later He was raised from the dead - conquering death and H*** and ushering in The Kingdom of God. He then ascended to the right hand of God the Father (where He came from) now Lord of the living and the dead. God has fixed a date when He will judge the world in righteousness. What you need to do is repent (In humility, acknowledge your sin before God and turn to a relationship with Him) and trust ALONE in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross; and God will grant you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then be baptised.
When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen:
1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross.
2) The perfect life that Jesus lived will be credited to you. He will find you holy and blameless on judgement day (and now), as Christ’s righteousness covers you.
3) You receive a place in Christ’s kingdom as an adopted child of God. God becomes your Father. Eternal life isn’t just about living forever, but a personal relationship with God Himself. That life can start now; The Father will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him.
4) God doesn’t just save you from the penalty of your sin (H***). He can save you from the power of sin itself. Whoever practices sin is a slave of sin; but when you repent and believe the gospel [WHICH HAS BEEN DESCRIBED] the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you and sanctify you (working in you to further abandon sin and turn to the will of God). When the end of the age comes, and eternity begins, this work will be brought to completion as you are finally freed from the presence of sin.
Jesus offers to take away your sin and to give you His righteousness; you must receive it by faith. Choose this day if you will align with the world, or with Jesus and His kingdom - only His is eternal.

How many lies have you told, and what do you call someone who lies? Have you ever stolen something, and what do you call someone who steals? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain (very serious; in Old Testament times, the Jews wouldn’t even say the name of God for fear of blasphemy) - even ‘OMG’? One more: Jesus said whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart; have you ever looked with lust?
Well I’m not judging you - but if you’ve done these things then you’re a liar, thief, blasphemer and adulterer-at-heart; that’s how seriously God takes sin. He is Holy (perfectly good/righteous and separate from sin) which means that H e is perfect in justice - and if He were to judge you by the moral law (we’ve already looked at 4 commandments) would you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or H***? The answer is h*** - the wrath of God upon you for your sin. Is that concerning?
But fortunately, God’s will is not that you perish. He wants all men everywhere to be saved. So do you know what He did for us guilty sinners? In self-giving mercy, He sent His Son Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life that we should have lived - tempted at all points and yet He NEVER sinned. Through His life, being in very nature God, He revealed God to men; but we in our hatred condemned Him to death. On that cross as Jesus suffered, He took on the sin of the world and was judged in our place; receiving God’s wrath. You and I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid the fine. God can justly forgive us.
On that cross He died, then He was buried, but 3 days later He was raised from the dead - conquering death and H*** and ushering in The Kingdom of God. He then ascended to the right hand of God the Father (where He came from) now Lord of the living and the dead. God has fixed a date when He will judge the world in righteousness. What you need to do is repent (In humility, acknowledge your sin before God and turn to a relationship with Him) and trust ALONE in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross; and God will grant you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then be baptised.
When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen:
1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross.
2) The perfect life that Jesus lived will be credited to you. He will find you holy and blameless on judgement day (and now), as Christ’s righteousness covers you.
3) You receive a place in Christ’s kingdom as an adopted child of God. God becomes your Father. Eternal life isn’t just about living forever, but a personal relationship with God Himself. That life can start now; The Father will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him.
4) God doesn’t just save you from the penalty of your sin (H***). He can save you from the power of sin itself. Whoever practices sin is a slave of sin; but when you repent and believe the gospel [WHICH HAS BEEN DESCRIBED] the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you and sanctify you (working in you to further abandon sin and turn to the will of God). When the end of the age comes, and eternity begins, this work will be brought to completion as you are finally freed from the presence of sin.
Jesus offers to take away your sin and to give you His righteousness; you must receive it by faith. Choose this day if you will align with the world, or with Jesus and His kingdom - only His is eternal.

you said at the start how you got confirmed as a catholic and I realised how different it was for me, I was confirmed too (because I was told it was cool and I was like 11 and impressionable) I remember the ceremony vaguely, I remember being given a little wooden cross, and someone bought me a Manga Bible and I wish that I still had that book, I remember it had a large drawing of jesus on the front but it was only half his face, I have looked online and cannot find it anywhere which is....terrifying

I'm not sure if they sell the entire bible anymore, but I used to have the story of Jesus and the story of Paul in manga form, they were called 'Manga Messiah' and 'Manga Metamorphosis'
