- My apologies for the delay, I started the upload at 11:45am to post at 1pm and here it is, 4:00pm. Still showing 2 hours and 12 minutes left at 45%. Not sure what the issue is but it’s slowly uploading. :/
My buddy Cisco and I travel to Pulaski, New York in search of some decent salmon fishing. I landed a steelhead first morning which was unexpected as they are fairly rare to see in the river in September. Granted, it is the end of September so I was fortunate enough to land one. Day two was fairly uneventful and I went 0-20. But day three was absolutely fantastic!
Thank you for watching! I greatly appreciate each and every one of you. If you enjoyed the video, please comment and let me know. I truly enjoy the comments and look forward to answering them.

Good advice at the beginning of the video. Tackle shops are a great place for resource. You guys caught some monster salmon.
Thank you! I always check when I get up there to see if any changes were made to the regulations. The Salmon River was it’s own set of regulations so it’s important to check every season.
Nice place, nice fishing, good video, so fun nice guy, thank you your time,
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it as well!
Nice yellow sponge fly
Chartreuse actually. However I didn’t really start hooking up until I switched to a #8 stone fly imitation.
@@69bajaoutdoors yellow or any color sponge is a snaggers bait. I have had my best luck down there on little green rubber eggs.

Fair enough. Thank you for the info. I will try that this season. It’s almost time!
Man you both got some great fish!
Thank you sir! It was a fantastic trip!
We are here from. Massachusetts love the run still new but hooked
I’m not a veteran by any means! Still learning every time I go there. Thank you for the comment and the sub!
Good job nice fish
Thank you sir!

You had a lot of hookups and I enjoyed watching your action and the fun you had. What flies were you using or egg patterns. You did mention stone fly. Are these the trout size stone flies or a larger version.
Thank you for watching! I started the trip using a #1 salmon egg hook with a small egg sized piece of foam and 8lb. fluorocarbon leader. That’s the standard spinning gear rig. I was missing (and breaking off) a lot of fish so switched to the 8wt. fly rod. On the fly rod, I was using a #4 bead head stone fly and 12lb. fluorocarbon tippet. I found that I had more hook ups with the stone fly than the hook and foam and less break offs. Supposedly, salmon don’t eat when they enter the river. But I can tell you, most of the fish we landed were inside the mouth. I did have some foul hooked fish but better hook up ratio with the stone fly. Maybe because it looks natural and they don’t seem to be spooked by it. They were quite line shy on this trip.

You are more than welcome! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
what brand of wading net are you using
It is made by Ranger Nets.
I heard that carefull what you wish for
Send it! ❤️
Why would you want to fish around that many people
It wasn’t that tight where we were. Funny part is that people were fishing into the river when the salmon were behind them hugging the bank.
@69bajaoutdoors I live 10 min from there so I know the craziness, I just don't think it's worth fishing shoulder to shoulder. Fishing is meant to be quiet and solitary
@@jman1989
While I do agree that fishing should be quiet and solitary, I don’t know of any place in NY where someone could fish during the salmon run and not run into a crowd. I’ve fished Burt Dam, Oak Orchard and 13 mile creek. I know there are other spots however, it’s a 6 hour drive for me so I usually go where I know there are fish.
