I don't understand why people are complaining about how expensive this car is. This is a high quality and deadly reliable brand of motor car. You pay for it and it will save you money over the years in "not breaking down" costs and outlasting the German brands 5 times over.
I've my RX now for 8 years and have nearly 300,000km on it now(2002) - the new price is worth it - the RX will keep going long past any Mercedes or BMW and will spend a lot less time being repaired as it gets older. The hybrid technology from Lexus and Toyota is better proven than other manufacturers as well. When mine eventually fails - I will be getting another RX for sure!
My friend I have a lexus RX400h since 2008 with 140.000 klm .I can assure you that is the most comfy and reliable car.It is expensive but you pay once. Since 2008 she goes to Lexus repair shop once per year for the annual inspection and this is it.After 12 years all machinery, main and auxilliary equipment works perfectly. It is not a sport car but you may drive hours and hours and get off the car untamed.
I recently bought a 2008 rx400h se-l with 93k miles on the clock. Looks a drives like a new car and is very comfortable and reasonably economical to run. Executive SUV for under £7k. Wouldn't buy any other brand now.
Another great review, Bob. Owned the previous model for 6 years having bought it as a 4 year old. It was my second Lexus, previous having been a GS300. Terrific machines, comfortable and most importantly they are unbreakable! Never had a single breakdown or repair in 12 years driving them.
I have a RX 300 2005 16 years old! Everything works perfectly and I mean everything, its faultless drives perfectly, these cars go on and on nobody does reliability like Lexus apart from Honda but I prefer Lexus just my personal taste, I think I will buy a 2021 450h great cars.
Update, I have just done a 1000mild road trip last week, London to Cornwall, Devon and a bit of South Wales, in the middle of the night on a long country dual carriageway with no street lights I used the radar cruise control to follow a BMW 5 series and I kept up with him.. the radar works in the dark very well.
I drive this car in my city and I got fuel economy exactly what it's written in the paper. Sometimes even less. I got 6.5L City sometime 8.5, never goes over 10L. 8.5L straight on cruise control highway at 110km/h. Range 800km at full tank.
How do you get these figures, are you using the ‘Eco’ mode most often or just ‘normal’ mode or is it all just down to having a light foot on the peddles.
@@chitpaul ECO mode all the time, like I mentioned in my comment, I use cruise control all the time when I drive on the highway. I drive at the speed limit only. I think as long as you drive properly, you will get the same figure that I mentioned.
I plan buying Lexus RX450h but from year 2010-2012 that fits my budget right now. If I become a millionaire from crypto in the next 6 months, I might go for a newer model but not too far because the latest ones are not that reliable anymore...
I have 2004 RX300 since feb 2020. Love it and looking at this video I suspect the 450h will be its sucessor. These cars are so good that you can buy them when the price has come down and still enjoy that Lexus experience! Great video by the way Bob.
Bob, I Just picked one up a 2016 model, first of this style,... following this review..... the last one of recommended cars was the VW CC. This car is amazing in so many parts..I tried seeing what I could get out of it in fuel economy and I have managed 60mpg according to the information screen graph.. with some concentration and aiming to get a high number, it is good on fuel if you really try.... have to try to get it into the electric motor mode as much as possible at low speeds around town, I have managed to drive for good distances in electric mode coasting and using very little throttle, pulse and glide. Great car.
Lexus cars in Ireland don't have the same "connection" as luxury German cars do here. It's a pity because they are far better to look at and as long term purchase they have beaten all their competitors in terms of reliability and customer satisfaction almost every year since the Lexus brand was created in 1989. Plus they hold onto their value far above any of the german competitors. These cars are built in Japan which is why they are far superior than their german counterparts!!
@@BobFlavinVideo I thought the same until I saw them parked side by side and it was the less sloping rear end. I know all personal taste!!! I'm Still a very big fan of the interior. A very comfy place to be.

It now carries 4 generations, including my mums electric wheel chair and baby seats. They are whisper quiet with that extra bit of luxury. I love it. $100,000 drive away. Compare that to a Holden Trailblazer for $65,000 drive away and they don't compare. I had an Audi Q7 which was lovely and more expensive here that the Lexus but not as luxurious inside.
Good to see Lexus upping their infotainment game. 9.7l is about 30mpg in old money, which isn't dreadful, but obviously poor next to an EQC or e-tron, but they are vastly expensive. I think this would be a great stepping stone car for a person until full electric SUVs become more practical, especially someone with a lot of city driving to do.
Yes, but if regen is not enough it will stay on petrol till battery is full. So you do 60mph, but next day you do 20mph :) when battery is loading back. You can't charge a battery from wall, it isn't phev.
Here in the USA, this Lexus RX is every where like Starbucks or McDonald's...... no matter how many RX Lexus builds, Americans buy them all..... we buy them all.....
WLTP now kills this on tax. €750 a year on road tax and it's in the Band E for VRT which puts a 30% tax onto the basic purchase price and VAT on top. The base price would be circa €50K only but with those taxes it pushes it up to €79K!
Because the dont want to do reliable cars anymore. The make a lot of money form parts and new cars.
