    I have 2 Shichons. 1 has a coat just like a Bichon. Thanks for the grooming tool info. Big help! My first Shichon has the Shih Tzu coat. When I got the second dog (Bichon coat) I needed all new grooming tools for the different coat texture. I appreciate the tips and tricks. My dog hates her front legs cut too! Lol

    When you were talking and explaining all the tools I love how he just sits there like a big boy. Very behave. I came across your channel since I have 2 bichon puppies and I want to learn how to groom them at home since taking them to be professionally groomed seems to really upsets them and they looked traumatized lol. They only had a couple of groom so far and I just want to wait til they’re adult and maybe they will pass the stage of getting scared with tools on them if I do the grooming at home.

      Thank for you comment, Phoenix tried his very best to behave for the video. Actually you can start early and let your bichon get use to the tools. Maybe first start with a short brushing session to let let them get use to the brushing? The advantage of grooming at home is that your dogs will be more relax and you can take your time to introduce the tools on them.

    Your Bichon behaves much like mine does. It is definitely the food that makes the brown tear stains. I give only 100% dried beef or chicken for treats and feed ceasar's wet food and chickpea and chicken dog food. No more stains from eyes or mouth. If you don't want to change your food, wiping the under eye area with a little (3 drops) whitening shampoo on a face cloth wait 5 min and rinse it off with another cloth will remove the stains.
    I also use dog dry shampoo powder - works great for getting the last little bit of damp out of the coat and for in between grooms for the greasy fur days - coat stays nice for a week or more when I use the dry shampoo spray after - it works like hairspray lol. I am jealous of your blow dryer, I can't afford one yet so we share my person blow dryer - takes forever.

    I got rid of the red around their eyes by only feeding dog food without red dye in the ingredients.
    worked for me

    I have a Bichon poodle mix I rescued 3 years ago when he was 3. He was a surrender . He’s frightened of the blow dryer so I move slowly with it

    does the pressure dryer help remove tangles?
    Bichons are great. watching your dog act just like mine do.
    very loving dogs.

      Hello, I believe the pressure dryer doesn't really remove the tangles. However, if you know how to control the air flow and dry in the right angle then it should help straightening the hair and untangle it. Best results will be drying while brushing at the same time. Yes Bichons are great dogs :D

    Don’t you think pressure blower is too much around eyes and ears area? Those area are sensitive and pressure blower have very strong wind.

    • @bichondads1811
      @bichondads1811  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, please excuse us for the late reply we just got back from a much needed break. The pressure blower I have is not a the industrial strength but more like a prosumer strength. I use the low speed with the low heat combination and the thin blow tip helps me to control the air flow better. So far it has worked well for my boys :D but yes I would not suggest high power and high heat around those sensitive areas.

    What temp is the pressure dryer? Does it ever burn their skin?

    • @bichondads1811
      @bichondads1811  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it will not burn their skin. I always set it to the lowest temperature possible. I would say around 40 degree. My dryer tends to heat up ( temperature is not consistent) so then I will turn off the heat. Rule of thumb is that if the coat is still very wet, you can use a bit of heat. When the coat is drying up then you should use less heat. Checking the heat on your own hand ( back side of your hand) is also a good indicator.

      This video was taken during the height of the corona period when getting professional help was not an option. As an Amateur Groomer , this was the best I could do at the time. Luckily the more you practice the better it gets. Nowadays the grooming session with Phoenix is much easier ( mostly using the clipper for the body ). Although this video seems like torture to you but Phoenix is still very much alive and healthy :D
