- How to grooming a bichon at home or salon?
I want to show bichon grooming on my channel GroomerOK. Because I often hear questions about pet bichon grooming and bathe a bichon.
Bichon frise grooming can be variety.
Bichon frise temperament:
These dogs are very active and playful, so choose a haircut for your dog according to your pet’s lifestyle.
If you want easy care you need to choose bichon frise haircuts short.
Petgrooming is different from exhibition.
The coat can't short if bichon frise will participate on dog show.

hi really great job, are there any instructional videos where you explain how to really make the face and head look like you did? I own a bichon and a standard poodle mix with a rottweiler so her hair is very fine, and I want to do them at home. I see your equipment is pretty expensive, and that may be why what I used at home left the bichon frizzy? Is there a middle-of-the-road scissor set that may work just as well?
Beautiful! It is so hard to find groomers to cut Bichons to look like Bichons. They always cut them to look like a poodle. Very nice!

I’m in grooming school and the reason a lot of groomers shave or make a bichon look like a doodle is because it’s faster then all that Scissor work lol. But I love this and I will do this with my clients because it’s a bichon not a poodle! Unless the dog comes in heavily matted or sometimes the owners want a really short cut I understand why they do it.
You are exactly right, I do not have any local groomers who know how to do a Bichon cut. Also they don't want to take the time. I'm teaching myself now, but I can't find any videos that start with the long ears.

My Bichon never looks like this when she comes from the groomer! I also have a Peekapoo ( Pekingese x Poodle ) that just looks like she's been clipped with a shaver on the body and a bit of a knife and fork job on her legs and feet. Can you suggest anything to make her look more like the shape she is? I found your video transformation lovely.
You should find the groomer which will make the breed haircut, which know the breed lines.
Give him a good foto bichon frise with beautiful haircut. He will make the same

He’s so sweet! My bichon has warts/skin tags that the groomer always nicks. I’ve decided to do him myself. I know he won’t look like this but hopefully I won’t nip him and cause aggravation.
You're right! If your groomer aren't attentive you should make grooming yourself for your bichon .

When my previous girl got older she got warts and raised Lumps. The curly coat isn't suited to clippers. Scissors are the way to go. I always ask for a Bichon cut, longer legs, and a round Bichon head.
A bichon needs to be de-matted by brushing and combing before being bathed. Otherwise the mats will become impossible to remove. So this video really should start by showing how to de-mat.
My bichon is a bit naughty at the groomer ! This one is so chilled what a good boy 🎉 !!
I pay my groomer more for my bichons scissor cut than my own hair because of the time it takes ! Bichons need a scissor cut because of the curly coat a blade or cutter hurts them. I know many a groomer who does this but bichons are meant to be scissored ! They have sensitive coats and souls, and need to be treated as such ! My previous girl lived until 17.5 years, my current one is 7.5 years. I must admit i love and spoil my bichons !!!

YES! They always cut my bichon boy like a poodle even though we always ask for a bichon cut!
Thanks for the video. My problem is that my sweet little girl will not sit still. She wiggles and moves and when I get close with the scissors freaks out. I have taken her to two different groomer in the last two months. The first one actually shaved around her eyes and she looked sickly for weeks, it was bad. The second one must have done something because I bathed her and when I turned on the hairdryer she went nuts. She isn't scared of the hairdryer anymore but will not sit still. I'm scared to take her anywhere else, she is sweet and doesn't deserve to be treated roughly or hurt.

I would introduce a slow low air dryer or distant hair dryer on low cool at home in short bursts. It's called de conditioning. A few minutes. Turn off. A reward and what a good Bichon !!! Excited talk and all the praise. Keep going and practice daily. Eventually with reward and good praise she will get used to the dryer ! Same with brushing ! Oh you're such a good girl etc. I use baby brushes on puppies then a better brush as they get older. All my training methods are positive. Never ever negative in any way. Bichons are clever as, they want to please you. ! Sometimes they just don't know what to do because they haven't been exposed. My Bichon is a little naughty (my second girl my first was almost 18 when she passed) this one I rescued almost two years old and had not had grooming before. I think this is why.

Do all Bichons have poodle like tight curls? Do some have slightly wavy hair?
Most bichons pure bred have the tight curls by one and a bit years. At first the puppy coat is soft and wavy but it changes. But I can't emphasise the need to get your puppy used to a soft brush each day. By adult hood they will be then used to a slicker. A Bichon is a high maintenance breed and you need to brush them several times a week or they get matted. And a bath once or twice a month.
Trimming dogs is a beautiful job. I have trimmed westies for 22 years with much love. 💖😍🍀👍😘🤗🐕

I had 6 westies, 4 girls and 2 boys. 😍 Now my last westie boy 2019 unfortunately died 14 years ago and we are still very sad😢The love for the Westie remains forever in my heart. But I still trim a few westie. I wish you all the love your sweet westie and for them 💖🐕🐕🐕🙏🤗😘

Very Cute! But please tell me where you got that slicker brush! i looked at every pet store and can NOT find one!
I used slicer brash Show Touch. I bought her from Europe.
Go online. Mine is from "Lawrence" UK I love them as their hardy. With a slicker you need to part each section and get right to the bottom of the coat. If your Bichon is very matted I find conditioner spray quite helpful. Massage in, then use the brush to get to the bottom of a Matt.
Why didn't you just take clippers or a guard to it?
Bichon haircut is done only with scissors. If you use a clipper you can spoil the quality of the coat
Not to mention clippers hurt a bichons curly coat

Teach your dog to sit.
Then use it on grooming. I petting dogs very often.
I talk to dog in a quiet and calm voice, I often praise pets for a good behaved.
I just try to negotiate with the dog 🤗

Oh I liked how you cut it. What kind of scissors do I need? I notice that you use 2 or 3 kinds?
You need straight long scissors , straight short scissors and thinning scissors 6”
Judging by the comments us Bichon parents are in the same boat. Out Bichons are looking like poodles due to inexperienced groomers. A step by step would be so helpful especially showing how to blend the long poodle ears we most likely have now.

If the Bichon has a good coat, the dog keeps its shape until the next grooming.
But a coat spinning if you bathing a Bichon Frize and don't use a hairdryer and a comb.
