Yeah you summarized the crappy Escaflowne film from 2000, not the anime "Vision of Escaflowne". They're two VERY different things... For example the Black Dragons and Abaharaki aren't even a thing in the anime, and Folken is a much more complex character than the brooding, megalomaniacal, nihilistic, one-dimensional archetype presented in the movie. Summed up the film just fine, but the title of your video is a bit misleading.
Your right, the TITLE is very misleading. You shouldn't have to then read the description to see it's actually about - as you correctly say - the crappy movie. Good summary of the movie but thumbs down for the click bait.
Man the movie is a loose retelling at best it misses like 75% of the story and character development. The movie and the show are not comparable. They don’t summarize each other. Have to say I hard agree with you Jake.
Same age! I watched it with my older sister when we would stay up late to watch anime as kids. Because of staying up late to watch these frankly pretty mature shows for my age, it really felt immersive like I was being whisked away into these fantasy worlds. Escaflowne the Movie left a HUGE mark on my mind. The composer Yoko Kanno is also now one of my favorites...the music she makes for anime is just second to none. Wolfs Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Macross, this movie and more...she's just got such good ears for music.
I cant wait for this to happen, and that might provide a hint for whats next since the Elden Ring DLC and Armored Core game were developed at the same time. I bet maybe their ultimate game might be this one if they use a escaflowne inspo

I always found it fascinating how useful a character Hitomi was. In a world of swordsmen and giant robots she always was able to play a pivotal role in events in the story.
