When you are inactive in a particular WhatsApp group, you need to select that group or chat, after selecting, you will find an archived button top right corner, just click it and your work is done.
However, in future, if you need that archived group or chat should be active. Then you need to go to unarchived chat and select that group or chat, after selecting, you will find an unarchived button at the top right corner, just click it and your work is done. That group is now active and you will get notifications about the latest updates.
