Well the things got magic enzyme creating power in it somewhere. Guess he figured he'd just shank it and take it, which is 100% the first thing I'd try too. Not very scientific but not crazy within the realms of video game logic.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen anyone play this game and try to kill the Sea Emporer, the thing keeping the planet alive. As always, this series has the Yogscast Guarantee!
I prefer him trying stuff over him sinking on his knees all the time and praising the holy and amazing story* of Subnautica, vowing never to venture 25 millimeter (1 inch) left or right of the beaten track. It's called "playing a game". He has a healthy distance to the story of the game.
FYI before you search the entire world for the plants you need for the hatching enzymes, the warp gates in the entrance take you to the places you can find them
not only that, they're usually within view of the cave entrances and the sea crown is in the tank itself. otherwise he's going to be searching for that one for quite a while.
Tom finds, and i quote, "the only thing keeping this planet alive" and he immediately stabs it to see if he can kill it. And his go to solution to get the children out of their eggs is to cut them out. Apparently Tom sometimes suffers from short term memory loss, since he literally saw and scan the alien Architects attempt at that same solution and read that it failed. Tom, there's a second game in the series being developed called Subnautica: Below Zero. It takes place years after the first game. It's still in development, but is playable if you're interested. I know many of us would probably love to see you play through it, but there's no need to rush into Early Access.
Nah definitely don't play it yet, they've only just released the first part of the story for it. Would suck to play it now and then have to finish it in a year. Might be worth buying now though considering Epic pays £10 of all games for the next week making it very cheap.
It's a bit meh to be honest. Compared to Subnautica, that is. Has Tom tried Lobotomy Corp? I feel like he'd be just bad enough (and thus entertaining enough) to make it work.
It is so much better in this early phase! Experimental version. As was Subnautica. Before the story put it on rails and pulled you on a (radio message) nosering through the world. Conveniently from location to location to save generation millenium that boring old exploring... bombarding you with an endless chain of massively overwritten "lore". I very much enjoy Below Zero before it goes the same way. The world grows but no rails yet. If you're fine with a free explory game, play it now! If you need a nosering, wait. I love seeing it grow. Checking in every few weeks. It makes me sad how obsessed some people are with the ok-ish story of Subnautica. It's hardly Planescaper Torment, guys. Same for Sips' old Subnautica series which was during that free phase of Subnautica. Just fun, exploring, finding out yourself. Wtach it to see what i mean. Tom thankfully didin't listen too much to some lame cheaters in the comments who seem to "play" games by guides and wikis. So he did that to the extend the game doesn't force the rails right in your face. I really hated how Subnautica later changed. It also kills replayability for me. First time story is ok, Second time it's just a pain the butt. Wish it'd get a Sandbox mode. But the only story free mode is also creative mode. Another annyoance is how later every fish kamikazees into your Cyclops. Making it rather pointless. Stupidest change in the games complete dev history. This is btw a good point about early access. Quite a few games turn to the worse later on. when they try to conform to expectations. Often by raising the difficulty to nonsensical lly annoying level. So getting in early can be fun. And all you "risk" are a few €,$, Whatevers.

This was the first time I've been genuinely frustrated when watching one of the Subnautica videos. Tom wandering around like a lemon trying to grab Peepers whilst the Sea Emperor probably sighs as it circles a fucking portal and its eggs is like a cartoon lol. For the first time in centuries this majestic beast has encountered another high-functioning, intelligent race that could help it and it so happens that it's lemon-head Tom trying to grasp at Peepers and dribbling.

Hi Tom! Use all of the different gates you opened in the facility to get to the different biomes where you can find the plants u need to make the enzyme! 😊
Tom, the sea crown can be one of the hardest ingredients of them all to find since that plant is very rare. Also, there is sea crowns growing in a crevice in the sea bed in the emperor holding tank. *FACEPALM* And as an added benefit you can swim right out of the tank if you go along the edges, before you know it the entire facility disappears letting you swim off into the sunset. Seriously subnautica devs, you had ONE job... xD
Either next episode will have a lot of cuts, or we've got another 10 to come as Tom scours the entire seabed for hatching enzyme ingredients. I've got my fingers crossed for the latter.
I think fin ding out that you can kill things really take away from the game and then leads to a different mind set on how the game works "boss fight ? Looks like a boss area" " lets shank it " I feel like the rifle pushes players to try to kill stuff and then when they find out they can bam game changed
i have yet to build the stasis rifle in my 200 hours of gameplay, always felt cheap. built the propulsion cannon for the first time my current playthrough because the prawn bay door repair panel was glitched so i had to get in the other way
A lot of Subnautica fans think the Stasis Rifle ruined the game for that very reason. Makes it too easy to cheese fights and kill creatures when you're supposed to just run. Luckily if you really care about that sort of thing, you can just not build the Stasis Rifle like I refuse to do when I play. To each their own, though. The important thing is having fun when you play it.
to be fair while you can kill the larger leviathans it still takes like 100 hits of a knife and doing so it kind of monotonous, and i think that encourages the use of the stasis rifle to be used to buy time than use to kill them
The game was intentionally designed so killing stuff is boring and unnecessary, but the fact that you can I think enhances the experience. It would feel cheap if everything in this "living ecosystem" was just impervious to physical damage.
I found that majority of people build the stasis rifle to halt the large leviathans in order to scan them before running. At least, that’s the reason I have it. Never once thought of trying to kill them. Maybe get one or two hits with the knife for fun before leaving

Tom plays a game where a virus was so extreme they had to genetically engineer the children of another species to give them a cure... this game is ahead of the curve.

What was with the cut at 14:38 ? The seaglide is teleported to active use, and his third hotbar, the scanner, is replaced by the repair tool. Food and water also slightly dip down. Did the scene glitch, or crash?

I got an electro-eel in there and he blocked the exit. It seems that cave is quite liked by evil fish...
I found the exit to warpgate 2 earlier in the game and it was very confusing to me (by warpgate 2 I mean the one at about 10 minutes in)
