      No thanks. Tries buying a pair and it was the worst experience I've ever had. The boots looked like they were drawn by a toddler. Unless you're a TH-cam content creator, you get trash quality. It's Filson 2.0.

    Wow, the old ones really do look better...the shape of the last, the stitch density and the double stitch with a row going through to the outsole. I wish i could get a pair like this made to measure like they used to do

    See how close together the eyelets are? That means the laces aren’t forced over the top of your foot. Something a lot of expensive NW boot manufacturers still haven’t learned. Old Wescos did a great job with this small but important feature. Can’t say if they still do but some popular newer companies that make NW style loggers, definitely don’t. Russell was awesome back when they measured your foot. 👍🏼

      Hard disagree. Most leathers only last a 100 years or so. If there was money to store then in a hard vacuum or some other storage method I'd agree. There's not so this is the best thing, and honestly these videos may actually become a really good historical source.

    The Russells look nice and comfy... up here in Canada, we have far fewer makers of great quality footwear. Pity.
    Regarding your affection for knives - I do like to carry a good knife, but Must warn your viewers about the negatives of carrying a knife, or any object that can be perceived as a weapon in Canada... If a policeman asks why you have a knife in your pocket, you're best to say you use it as a tool for work(opening boxes), and absolutely never say it's for in case you need it for self defense in a tough neighbourhood. That will then be called a weapon and the holder will be arrested. There is no self-defense in Canada! Now our customs officials are seizing and destroying every knife that has any sort of assisted opening, springs, gravity knives, push daggers, even knives with just a flipper on the blade, including thumb studs. Carrying today's knife would get that person arrested, tried and incarcerated, then deported and put on the "Never to come to Canada" list by our Border Protection Agency officials. So, if you come here, Beware of carrying a knife. Same is true for guns...

    I bought a pair of the Backcountry boots, based upon your assessment. The company has obviously went seriously downhill. The garbage clogs I received were so laughably bad - if they didn't cost $700, one could laugh about it that is. The QC is either extremely lackluster or the company takes the time to cautiously sift through their stock to send their best to social media influencers. I wouldn't recommend buying from this comapny to anyone I cared about.

    • @joewellfair8238
      @joewellfair8238 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a real shame I've heard several people online singing the company's praises. what was so bad about them? did you send them back?

    • @phraktl
      @phraktl หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@joewellfair8238 The top stitching looked like someone with a head wound did them. They looked nothing like the ones Weston shows in his videos. His have a nice semicircular curve that follows the outline of the foot. Mine looked angular - like a triangle with the top 1/4 cut off. The stitch on the right foot looked identical to the one on the left. So the right toe looked like it was pointing away from the centerline of the wearer's body. One of the shoes was 1/2 inch wider than the other across the ball of the foot and about 1/4 inch narrower in the arch. But wait! There's more! The stitching was done so hamhandedly, that it actually chewed up a toe until it bled.
      Russell Moccasin told me the boots couldn't be returned for exchange or refund. But they did offer to inspect them - which I declined outright. I ended up mailing them back to them, at my expense, and told them to keep them, as I refused to have them in my possession a day longer, and I was fully aware I wouldn't get a refund. A few days after they were returned, I got a full refund. Apparently, Russell Moccasin couldn't live with keeping the money. So they at the absolute minimum have that going for them.

      thank you let everyone know what your experience was like paying $600-1000 for a pair of footwear just to have a bad experience . I had herd of Mark Albert and paid over $300 pair of shoe just to have soles come off 5 months with little wear if some you would said some thing i would not spent the money on them Thank you

    • @phraktl
      @phraktl หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnversluis3084you're welcome. Companies, like Russell Moccasin, send top-tier examples of their stuff to be shown on social media, and then send their garbage to everyone else. The influencers make money, the companies make money, and the customer gets the shaft. It should also be noted that "handmade" does not equal "well-made". It really sucks to have the expectation of getting something wonderful, only to be sent something that makes you hate yourself for trusting someone who seems reputable. I should have learned my lesson on the ND3s. Was told 5 months to get them, but SEVEN months later, they still hadn't been made. At least Nick's made getting a refund easy. I won't buy anything Weston recommends or collaborates on again.

    LOL!!! Now owned by folks who actually killed the history, discontinued iconic models, discontinued their custom shop, transitioned to cheaper materials, but maintained and in some cases significantly raised the already super-premium prices. A customer since 1969 with my first pair of high-top Bird Shooters, discerning sportsmen like myself never cared that these iconic boots cost an arm and a leg; but that's when they were worth it; and would last ten, even twenty years or more. The current line-up of models are just barely worth half what they charge today........... when just about every custom maker in the business like White's, Adams, and even JK, will make boots for you, hand made at almost half the price. You can't even talk to these youngsters either; mention your concerns about the trajectory of the historic company and they'll delete your comments and your e-mail list account and/or ban you from their social media sites like they did to me for being so bold. Typical modern American business model; maximum revenue, with a minimum of production cost is all they are concerned with. They should pick up a pair Russell boots made in 1930 like these in the video, and see how many seconds it takes to embarrass themselves......... Trust me, I have a new pair, and they are quite a disappointment.
