you wearing shell boots while working in garage floor solvents and installing pipes is equivalent to a chef eating a kobe beef sandwich over a mop sink while scrolling on their phone with their free hand.
I seem to recall a cobbler (maybe Steve from Bedo’s Leather Works), saying that although Cordovan doesn’t crease, it is more liable to tear than bovine leather. If you’re interested in looking at other leathers, I’d suggest Kudu, which I think is almost exclusively tanned by CF Stead. A lot of British shoemakers have started using it.
My reverse kudu grant stones are probably my favorite boots right now. It's super soft and a hog hair brush easily cleans it up and gets it looking great.
Cordovan is very resilient, but other than cost/rarity there are 2 main downsides. 1) It has a tendency to rip under stress and 2) wherever you do crease/roll it, it is super permanent and will always fold in the same place. I have an old pair of Color 8 Indy boots that have been back to Alden a couple of times and still look great. But then again, I’m not nearly as hard on boots as you are and definitely will never NEED a PNW boot.
Shell Cordovan lineman patch & boot pocket! And other accents! The way it polishes up even after some abuse, it could make for some REALLY cool two-tone boots, contrasting with a traditional work boot leather that doesn't have that shine. Would probably make for a more financially sensible use of it too lol.
Would love to see some more x-months on vids to see how they hold up after you've been wearing them for a while. I can't speak about it's durability since I'm no leather expert, but I do have to say I love the colours and patina-ing of it you get. Also I think the link to the boot pocket kit is broken. The problems with one-offs, you don't get iterations to work those kinks out. Still some pretty damn cool boots though!
Nick's has insanely poor quality control. I own a pair of Renegades (English bridle) and Overlanders (Chromexcel), and the quality control issues on both are just off the charts. If you contact them about the issues, they'll just make excuses and try to gaslight you about them. As such, I will never buy another pair of Nick's.
I've seen hundreds of pairs of Nick's boots worn by wildland firefighters, and I have never heard of a single issue with them. TF are you talking about?
@drtyhay A year ago I received my builder pros. 3 months later while operating a shovel the vibram heal fell off, wasn't any nails in it whatsoever, just glue. I took them back they fixed them that day. Been great ever since. Nobody is perfect, and they fixed the problem.
Nice 🥃
you good man? you sound kinda done in this one xd
I was just going to order some Cordovan from Tuscany, hmm don't want a smelly wallet.
It smells wierd. Also a lot part of it are not shell cordovan but normal horse butt
@@hndrwn Thank you, definitely not going to order from them now.
@@JB-mw5rg their newst Metta Chatarina does not smell like that though. People (i havent bought) say it is nicely smokey.
Nb: i have handled Horween, Rocado, and Tuscana, but not Compiel and others.
She'll cordavan over rated , I won't buy it because it reminds me so much of the fake plastic looking patten leather from 80s , plus many that don't know qualities of different leathers would think its plastic or fake leather . We all do care in some way what people think . You spend close to 800 to 900 on a shell and someone ask you hey is that patten leather ? Lol
Somethings became really boring about his channel nowadays
He's not an underdog exposing bad companies anymore
I remember he cut in half a shoe identical to those hey dudes. Said they're trash. But because who KNOWS why. He cuts in half hey dudes which are 60 dollars. He somehow says they're amazing? And if you've touched those before you'd know how CHEAAAAAAP they feel. Bloke is a sold out bloke
Lol are the boots so good they are illegal hahaha
Hot take: super shiny boots don’t look good to me🤷🏽♂️
