Floor had a gall bladder operation two weeks before this performance that's why she's not in the studio with the others
No she did not, but this does not take anything away from her this performance recordet on her home studio and then synched with a band in total different place..

Floor is just incredible, so versitile can probably sing literally anything. I'm always in awe of her voice 😍

wherever she is, is the homestudio in Sweden ^^ (it features quite prominently in the videos on her channel including the Dangerous Game cover you viewed the other day).
She couldn't make it to the recording of the show, due to having had gallbladder removal surgery not long before (which actually happened in Finland while rehearsing with Nightwish...after not seeing the guys in person for over a year, she landed herself in the hospital after only one day of rehearsals -.-). So not being able to go to The Netherlands she recorded her parts at home with her husband (who at least as long as the pandemic lasts is demoted from being the drummer of a great metal band to being her camera man and video editor :P), while the band recorded their part in the studio and later both got put together.

The amazing thing about Floor is the way she conveys the emotion in her performances. It is so organic. In a Fan friday video of the past, she said she doesn´t rehearse any movements on stage in her live performances and that says a lot. She is able to feel and be in what she is singing and that adds to why I feel so mesmerized by her. I thought the original was catchy but Floor´s vocals are next level and really beautiful. Very biased ;)

The reason Floor did her vocals at her home studio in Sweden is that she had just had her gallbladder surgically removed.
P.S. One of Floor's tweets is also relevant in this context: "If I hadn't had passionate music teachers in my high school, I might never have started singing. I was the bullied, insecure kid who dreamt of singing without knowing that I had a voice for it. Because of my dedication at school I dared to crawl out of my shell and started to sing! I became more confident of myself and made friends and was forever in love with music. Nothing is as wonderful and honest as making music together. Nothing connects as music can. Music education is therefore very important for many reasons".
In Dutch 'Beste Zangers' has a double meaning. Indeed it is 'Best Singers', but it can also be used as a introduction 'Dear Singers'.
I think that Floor version sounded more varied, more powerful than the original,I have not seen anyone to be able to convey such emotions as Floor conveys with his movements, facial expressions and voice.
To me it sounds too controlled and not so much ”feeling” the song. But she has a really good voice. I think she is more suited to do rock 😅😊
@@christineng436 Are you delusional, not very good is felt Floor song? yes, she is the best at this.When I listened to the original, I listened and immediately forgot, but I didn't understand the words, but it doesn't matter, I remembered about this song when Floor released this cover, and I also didn't know what the song was about, but I had such a feeling that it was not from the world of everything, as I wrote,I have not seen anyone to be able to convey such emotions as Floor conveys with his movements, facial expressions and voice,and that's what most specialists say.

@@christineng436 this is called: build up a song. You start softly and gentle, so you can sing with a full power in the end of the song. Be able to control so much power is really difficult!

i have never heard somebody about her performance on stage how she moves and move her arms; its intriguing its a dance a ballet in itself that's not just a bit on the beat of the music, not there it has been thought about

I respectfully disagree that the original is better. Of course it's subjective, and an original stands on its own, but Floor makes it sound more beautiful and even more powerful in the way she creates the subtle moments with such incredible dynamics. She is truly a gift to the world.

The house band played live to the film of Floor (several takes were used shown by her cape being on/off her shoulder) .
Floor is in Sweden at home as only recently had gall bladder removed and doctor wouldn't allow her to travel but they wanted her on the show so she recorded performance and band accompanied in Holland. This is a much more musical version than original Eurovision version that won in early 2010s

Floor sent Beste Zangers a couple versions from her home studio. Then Beste Zangers synced it up and edited them into one video music mix. She was under doctors orders (Do not fly yet). Floor had gall bladder surgery 2 weeks prior. The original is more of a Electronic techno pop dance mix. Of course it also has all of the production glitz which takes it to the level of a Hollywood diva performance.

This was a special edition of BZ, dedicated to the then upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, that was hosted by the Netherlands. The idea was that the singers would each choose a song from the rich history of the song contest to sing. Floor chose the winning song of 2012, which was the Swedish submission of that year, the country where she now lives. She could not come to the studio because she was recovering from gall bladder surgery that she had just had. So she recorded the vocals in her own studio, probably based on the instrumental track recorded by the band. In the studio both tracks were combined to the video that you watched.
To me that is what is not understood by many of the popular singers nowadays, that by playing with the dynamics, you can make the belting much more impactful instead of constantly singing at the top of their lungs. Also we will have to agree to disagree on which version is best, as I find the original monotone compared to this, there is so much more vocal dynamics here.

Music is a subjective idea, so saying the original was better is your opinion, which doesn’t make it true. Personally, I think Floor knocked it out the park. Why? Because the dynamics were incredible, and completely told the story. More so than the original, of course that’s only my opinion.
We are all entitled to our opinions.
@@HonestVocalCoach I’m not drawn to what I perceive to be ‘ throw away’ pop music, I find it quite bland and predictable. The colours Floor brings actually brings the song to life for me.

She newer competes with the originals. Floor Jansen does those covers with metal twist. She certainly is not copying any song as itself, like some singers feel forced to do - dunno why the heck?

I always thought about one thing. Why isn't all good vocal coaches famous? They could easily start a career at singing. They know everything about voices. Many of them can sing. I've heard it.

Floor recorded the vocals in her house studio in Sweden (where she lives). She couldn't join the rest of the singers and the band in the Netherlands due to Covid travel restrictions.
There were indeed restrictions due to COVID but the main reason she couldn't fly was her cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) just a couple of weeks before.
Diasagreeing strongly, this version was so much better than the original ……..you are too much focussed on belting. Her placement, her fluidity, the fluent swap between head and chestsounds, her pure crystal clear sound and her sheer range makes this version pure artistry! No way the original was better! And that band! These musicians are the best of the best! Great arrangement and performance. I sense a bit of envy in all of your Floor and nightwish reactions, but I might be wrong

Well I am analysing the video, I have to pause it.
Its because she likes her own voice more than any other and doesn't understand how to give an analysis withing the musical phrasing.

Floor is obviously very skilled and talented. However I’m not a fan. She is controlling every little note and movement, leaving little for the mood of the moment and spontaneity.
Floor's vocals and her part of the video were pre-recorded in studio. So this wasn't live. :)
I'm not sure that's true to be honest.... I think that IS her spontaneity. G may be breaking it down so we know exactly what she's doing, but Floor's certainly applying her own feelings to it. She's skilled enough with the vocal abilities she uses that she's able to pull them out as she wants to.
Not being a fan of it is totally fair though. :-)
That's what happens when you're a perfectionist. Everything must be the way as it 'should be'.
And since when does every music recording have to be a one-take wonder?
That's what I like about her: she can control each detail of the song, in other words, we can understand exactly what is going on.
