Great tip. I have this machine and heaps of lace cards I thought I would never use. Must try this out. Thank you.

Aww hope you enjoy. It’s a convenient way to knit lace on the Brother chunky. 😀

Still better than hand knitting these! Thanks for the tip!

Fantastic. So much easier than charting. How do you know when to do plain knitting and turn off the punchcard

The plain rows will be added in for both electronic and punchcard Brother machines. The electronic will come up with the number of rows needed to be knitted after the transfers, or with the punchcard a turn mark will be indicated on the card to knit 2 rows or replaced by a number, if it is more than two rows that need to be knitted, at the end of your lace transfers, just exactly the same way as using the lace carriage on the Brother standard gauge machines.
      Hope this helps.

Can you tell me why you take off the KC button and then knit 2 rows?

This is so the card does not advance, we only want so simulate the lace carriage moving the card and not the main carriage. If we let it advance during the knit rows, the pattern would be incorrect.

Hi, this is really nice but can you explain how one can use the Knit Leader with that workaround ? I am puzzled as obviously the Knit Leader would advance the Mylar sheet with the pattern with every carriage movement. thank you

      Hi Christine,
You would simply turn the knit leader tripper off with any pass off the carriage that is not knitting.
The same would apply to the row counter.
      Hope this helps. 🙂

I think the audio is not in sync with the video. Makes it a little hard to follow but seems to be a great workaround. Thanks

What happens to the long yarn left across roe when you r making the first ‘set’ row? Do u just cut in the middle and weave in? Great video and work around without lace carriage! Thank you😊

It will just follow back to the correct side as the carriage is slipping during the selection rows when using this technique.

Can you tell me what the book is that you referenced?

The book is the Stitchworld book that comes with Brothers electronic machines.
