Thanks so much for your video. I bought tpbrother 930 and it has that comb. I didnt know its true function and thought it just a fine weight comb for lace knitting, lol. Now I can properly use it, hahaha. Love all your videos. Please make more. I really dont know what I dont know. I am new to machine knitting. Thanks so so much again. God bless you!
This is brilliant. Thanks so much. Ive been having so much trouble using my cast on combs and this works great, I had no idea what those wee metal end bits did until I saw this video.
I'm glad I started my machine knitting journey last year on a KH-551 because it had these combs. I've since sold that machine but I had I found some 'extras' in a lot with a machine of later make, and I still prefer to use them over the later Brother style.
I remember once having a machine with this feature. I wonder why they discontinued this type of cast on comb? So useful. If a casino comb doesn't have these little clips, do you use it with the teeth facing away from you or towards you? I usually have them facing away from me but your video has me wondering.
Usually you use the combs with the teeth away from you but in order to use this special feature, the teeth need to be facing you, as to catch the loops formed when you knitted across, when you pull the comb down. You can still use these older combs in the same way as the later versions, where you just hook it onto the cast on edge.

Thanks for this! I have one of these but have never understood how to use it. What are the notches on the bottom edge for?

That’s so handy, thank you for showing that simple cast on.
