Weirdo’s unite! We have been practicing a sabbath for six years and it’s the best day of the week. And believe it or not, even my wild and crazy boys (11, 10, & 7) will actually nap as part of our mandatory rest time. 😁 you’re my kind of weird Diana! 💕
We are part of team weirdos! As a WELS Lutheran family, we practice sabbath and have recently switched to Saturday evening worship. This allows us to have a full day of rest! We start with a quiet morning of reading, a walk, or whatever we find joy in doing. We have "brunch" and "linner". We may have an outing at some point in the day. It is just so important to us to slow down, regroup, and appreciate the blessings that God has given us!
Love that you have a Sabbath day. I have recently started to have my own Sabbath day and rest and I absolutely love it! The intentional choice to slow down and enjoy all that God has given me is priceless.
We've been practicing Sabbath for 30 years. As farmers, there were times when the crop was ready in the field and rain was coming but because it was our Sabbath we didn't roll any tractors. Some people laughed. Interestingly, on those years, God provided larger crops, fewer breakdowns, and total blessings. When a neighbour decided to sell his fields, he approached us privately and offered to sell the fields to us because he had been watching us for over 20 years and knew we kept Sabbath and he liked knowing that he could have picnics with his grandkids around the pond and not have to worry about us kicking up dirt during the picnic on a Sunday.
Thanks for sharing! We've been wanting to implement a sabbath and this is the push we needed! I'm concerned that Saturday will feel SUPER busy trying to fit in laundry, grocery shopping, house stuff, social gatherings, church, etc, since my husband and I both work in an office Monday - Friday. Any suggestions? As I write that, i think to myself, spread those tasks over the whole week, duh, but I'll still take any suggestions you have!
Yeah, that's a really valid question! My husband's situation is the same as your husband's, but I don't work FT, so I do have a bit more time when I'm with my young children during the week to do things. It might help to ease your way into Sabbath and see how that goes!
I agree! I apologize I don't have better equipment. I'm so sorry. If anyone wants to donate some money so I can get a microphone, I'm happy to use it! haha
