    I was raised in SDA family, in puberty I was led astray, gone into the world... but when i got my first daughter 5 years ago, i realised i want to raise my kids, like my parents raised me, when i looked in retrospect ive seen that the sabbath days really were different than any other day and full of peace and quality time spent with family, and realised how much i miss the sabbath ... when i was a kid i was taking it for granted... 😊 im back now! With 2 daughters, and praying for my husband to join us entirely too!

    We started this about 5 years ago, we had a wonderful 7th day family living in our rental apartment and we heard the excitement of the Sabbath lol we go to church on Sunday so we celebrate Sabbath that day, I like it because Sat is family chores, tasks ext we can all get done so home feels fresh Sunday morning☺️ we go to church, we “cheat” and grab take out for lunch, come home enjoy a quiet lunch, nap time / quiet time, usually head outside around 3pm, go skiing, summertime we hit the beach. Supper is always pancakes, kids love helping me make them. This is a day where no tasking is being done, we just chill and enjoy eachother. It’s such a treat and all my kids say it’s there favourite day of the week🙌 I don’t feel guilty just sitting and playing cards with the kids this day. It’s such a load off😅 God knew we needed a Sabbath rest and we never plan to stop this ☺️

    I grew up keeping the sabbath and it was the biggest blessing. It was always my favorite day of the week. Now I have a 7 yr old and a 1 yr old, it is a joy to keep the sabbath with my own family now ❤️
    We start sabbath at Friday evening with worship and dinner as you do. On Saturday we go to church, have lunch with fellow believers, and go on a nature hike in the afternoon. This is basically also how my sabbath was as a child. The quality time with family and God is so special.
    I'm so happy to see more Christians discover the blessing that the sabbath is 🙌

    I heard about this idea on your podcast. We’ve begun having Friday Family Feasts where we set the table beautifully, play music, have special dessert and together time (we have a 1 & 4 year old). This has become something very special as a family to look forward to and I imagine it’ll evolve to be more of a full sabbath situation in the near future.

    Wow! I started doing a sabbath tea party with my oldest when she was six, she’s now 11 and we have 2 more girls. And we also have the same yellow tea cup as you! 😂
    We do some Hebrew dance, the girls have special matching very spinny skirts to wear and tambourines , and we have a special dancing worship session. We usually listen to an online sermon while the girls color or draw. Nap time for sure, 😅
    We start Shabbat by blowing the shofar at sundown and saying a prayer then having dinner.

    My family is inspired and I want to implement these traditions into my own home . I would add the tradition of attending the traditional Latin Mass .The priest at any traditional Catholic Church such as fraternity of St. Peter or Society of St. Pius X would be good conversation. That is if you haven’t explored that option of Christianity.

    I’ve been studying through the book “Ten Words to Live By” by Jen Wilken and discussed just last week about implementing a day of rest. How do y’all get house repairs and large projects done when Elisha works all day and with kiddos at night? We don’t know how to work that in while trying to honor the Lord in Rest.

      Was wondering the same thing to have such a long evening time routine and then a sabbath day apart from Sunday. We usually try to get a small something done on the house in the evening and make Sunday our day of rest. So we have Saturday to get stuff done.

    I've enjoyed happening upon your channel and listening/watching your podcast and tips from your parents as well. I'm right in the middle of your families with my oldest at 20 and youngest at 6. We have always loved the Sabbath as a day of worship but with teens especially, we are ministering with them, and littles, and we have to enjoy the day of worship as a rest from our normal routine of working for ourselves, to working for the Lord. It's a rest for the spirit as we turn toward the Lord, but not always a rest physically, although we are renewed physically at times as well:). I definitely feel more rested as I plan meals ahead. Sometimes I have to just sit and feel peace in the Lord, knowing that what I'm doing is pleasing to him even if my house is not as clean as I would like:) I resonate with so much of the values your family has shared. Thanks for being a light to others:) I would enjoy the get it all done club in sure but my husband is in between jobs at the moment.

    • @elizabethlizbaker
      @elizabethlizbaker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know of many people who share their Sabbath/Shabbat dinners with friends. If visiting with friends feels like quality, restful, special time, then I think you should feel free to incorporate that into your Sabbath! I don't believe there is any absolute right or wrong way to celebrate/honor Sabbath- you should do what feels right for you and your family :)

  • @MotherhoodforEternity

    Our Sabbaths usually begin with going to church for fellowship and Bible study on Friday evening. We like to share our supper with those that come to the Bible study. It’s either soup and bread, haystacks, or pasta salad. Then the following day, we go to church, enjoy a sweet fellowship with other believers from church time to fellowship meal, then we’d go and visit some people at a nursing home or guests from church or even with fellow church members and talk about God and His goodness in our lives. We also make it a point that we are able to spend time in nature but if it’s not possible at least to be able to go out for a walk in the neighborhood and think about God’s goodness. It’s more of a leisurely walk. Then we’d go home and eat popcorn, fruits, and smoothie which is a tradition in our home. On other Sabbaths (which is most Sabbaths of the month) we’d invite people over from our church in the afternoon for some food, fellowship, and worship for at least three hours so our guests can still have their evenings and we are still able to do our regular bedtime routine.

    This is really beautiful and special, and I think it's a huge gift for your kids, too. I see myself challenged to integrate somewhat like a sabbath into our family of four because my husband and I work at our church, he's one of the pastors and me too, I work on some sundays. My husband has to work on saturdays; a lot of sundays either he or me will have work to do around church service and then Mondays are off-work days but our oldest son will go to the kindergarten (a bit later than otherwise, but still, and my husband likes our son to go), so we don't have that whole day together. I would love to do a whole day of family sabbath but right now, I don't know, how or when. Does anybody have an idea?

    • @angelina6744
      @angelina6744 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SuzanneLanger Thanks for the idea! Yes, maybe it could be a start:) Saturday would then be kind of a sabbath for me and the kids, eventhough I'm afraid it wouldn't really feel like a full sabbath if my husband is at work.

    They aren’t “Jewish Feasts” they are the appointed times/ feasts set up by God for his people. Jews were 1 of the 12 tribes of Israel, Jesus is coming back for the lost 10. We should be observing sabbath and the feasts/ set apart times, as they were set up and never done away with. Read your entire Bible, study and test everything against the scripture!!!

      Sabbath was made for man and not man made for the sabbath. Jesus kept the sabbath but he came against the radical Pharisees who had added laws to Gods sabbath and forgot heart behind the matter which is what God cares about, that we are loving others! Sabbath is a blessing and a sign created by God (from the time of creation) a day when we can lay aside our labor and rest in the Lord. Doctors and nurses still work on the sabbath as they are doing good and their work can be looked as being the hands and feet of Jesus, just as Jesus healed on the sabbath. It is just a blessing to take a day and rest in the Lord, take a day with family, take a day in Gods creation out in nature and for some putting the phone down is a way to do this destruction free. It is a blessing to them not a burden, they are making memories not feeling slaves to the law! God bless you!
