I just recently him along with band of horses in a church for south by south west. That had to be the best concert i have ever been to in my life. The acoustics were so great every song sounded better than the recorded version.

I agree they do sound similar, but you gotta admit, there's only so much you can do in open C... especially if you use the same picking pattern! On a side note, my favorite song in C tuning is Richard Thompson's Vincent Black Lightning, check it out
