    I've been looking for a "definitive" guide to skip barber as I've just progressed from rookie and want to focus mainly on open wheel racing. This was a great overview and has left me feeling like I will get better with time, as my first time in the skippy left me wondering if it was really for me. I've now subbed. Another quick note which I found useful in a reddit was not only can you spectate a race but you can click test drive in the spectator view and you are basically a ghost car on track racing with everyone else to see where you stack up. Not ideal for racecraft but nevertheless a chance to do a race distance in the same conditions risk free.

      Thanks for the nice post Shayne. Yeah you can do what we call "ghosting a race". Good to see where you would have stacked up against that field without losing anything. Hang I there mate, it's one of the best categories in iRacing. 👍

    You’re flying now knackers, good on you. Also excellent to be helping everyone out with these tips.
    All the best to you and the family for the holiday season.

    Thanks chap. Found your vids for the Vee but am going to concentrate on the Skippy this season and these tips are invaluable.

      Cheers mate. I hope you get 2 seconds per lap... 😉

      @@GleNRG I’m slow enough to gain that quite quickly ! But I’m sure a season just concentrating on the Skippy and learning new tracks will make me a better racer.

    • @GleNRG
      @GleNRG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I gained a lot of pace and more importantly consistency when I focused on just 1 car. 👍

      @@GleNRG So a full season of Skippy and it’s been a blast - good clean racing with only one exception... learning lots of new tracks and it’s certainly improved my driving and racecraft. In week 13 I headed off to a few races back in the MX5 and could really feel the improvements in pace and consistency.

      Great work mate. Yep the Skippys taught me so much about racing, I didn't realise how much until I moved onto something else. 👍

      Cheers mate. You can really analyse the fast guys when spe taking at whatever playback speed you like, and from any angle too.
      It's great to, not only see how they are achieving their speed, but also how they battle with each other up the front. 👍

    Fantastic video with great tips mate. I'm yet to buy the Skip but it will likely be my first purchase. I've mainly been focusing on the MX5 for the moment. I'm certain all of this will come in handy. Cheers mate. Subd

      Thanks a lot for the nice comments Nick. Hopefully we will see you in the Skippy's soon. There are a few things in that vid that apply to most cars. Using the centre of the car to aim for the corner instead of the edge will make a big difference. 👍

    Great video. Thank you. What do you think about using something like VRS vs watching leaders in the top split?

    • @GleNRG
      @GleNRG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate. Yep VRS can be good for micro analysing the fast lap times, but you kinda need to know what your looking for.
      I still prefer to watch the fast guys from multiple camera angles. I like to do a few laps by myself to set a base, then jump on board an aliens car to see what I was doing wrong. I've made heaps of time on track with this process. 👌

    What class is the skip barber? I bought it but i dont see any races for it.

    • @GleNRG
      @GleNRG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day mate. The Skippy's are D class, so anyone out of rookies. The car isn't racing in Week 13, but the new season will be starting in 2 days where there will be a race every hour at 15 past for the next 12 weeks. 👍

    Brilliant - thanks for sharing, point with nose, get offset not an issue for you ?

    • @GleNRG
      @GleNRG  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers mate. Usually offset number as high as possible, unless the car bottoms out then you'll need to raise it. 👍

    i found an app that beeps in your ear at a set rpm. your can customize the rpm for each gear. ican keep my attention on the racing line and not rpm or speed.. it is called soundshift nspace.hu/soundshift. thanks for your vids i have learned alot from you

    Thanks so much Glen, just getting back to IRacing after a hiatus and a new gaming computer, quick question, what FOV do you suggest with the Skippy? I have only 1 screen, what would be good? Currently I'm at 58.0 or so....

    • @GleNRG
      @GleNRG  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No worries mate. Usually I put the monitor dimensions into the graphics settings and let iRacing set a number. Then I usually bring it back a bit to bring the mirrors into the frame. I don't really go with a particular number, just what feels good to drive. I feel iRacing brings it a little too far forward for what I like. 👍

    You know what keeps kicking me off the podium?
    All the morons who hit me every single race.
    If you qualify in 1st, the guy in second is gonna hit you before turn 1. Pretty much guaranteed.
