Dear NL, maybe the saying when you're going through heck keep going, is leading you to unlimited heck. Maybe it's time to upgrade it to when you're going through heck beat the heck out of it. That has a better message.
I feel like every episode ends with something along the lines of "I thought we really had something going there. This hurts".
Its a sympton of the issue: He doesn't even know what he's doing wrong :/

Or why play Wild Strike for 1 energy to take 10 damage of the board when you can pay 2 energy to drastically overkill an enemy?

That 'going through heck keep going' thing is very apt way of describing his play style.
Works well in games you can brute force practice, less so in games where you need to actually need to make thoughtful decisions.

I mean, he listened to feedback of people saying 'removing strikes/defends early is bad' and to 'add good cards' which means add every card and remove nothing in his minds eye

@@falsedragon7104 a question only NL could explain but NL seeing the error of his ways for the future? nah, NL only sees his mistakes for a very very short amount of time and then repeats them after he does another mistake

Cause then you see, that he is actually smart, but rushes himself into mistakes.
Furthermore, he would probably learn alot more from his mistakes if he would concentrate more on his plays.
That first slime boss was some some comedy gold
7 minutes in, trying to decide whether Regret or Brutality is going to remove the Buffer before the big attack. My money's on Regret.

Did this guy just take perfected when he transformed a strike.... the deck building of this egg is next level.
He is 100% in the mind set of 'this card has worked before' rather than looking at his deck and what it needs/doesn't need. Thats why he keeps taking armerments over cards that his deck would be good with
Every video I watch just makes me feel like he made ascension 20 through sheer luck.

His strategy is basically to throw his so called 'archetypes' at a wall and see if they stick.

NL, don’t get discouraged from playing this game and stop playing it as a result, please. This is my favorite game of your’s to watch.

Hey NL have you considered taking the game off fast mode so you don't play so fast and make small mistakes that will cost you over time
Oh god, that gremlin fight (4:51) was terrrrible. if he pops one potion and kills the debuffer and a 10 damager, he still takes 10, but the next turn only takes 7, even with the bad draw, setting himself up on turn three to make it a 1v1 with the 21 health rage guy. with 3 block a turn by default. essentially guaranteeing a win with ~ 20 damage taken max instead of the 31 he did, and he keeps a potion.
NL its better to use potions early in a fight to remove an enemy than later to finish them. But you always do the opposite and its embarrassing.
It’s hard to come off watching NL play Tetris 99 pretty decently to watching these StS atrocities
5:02 you decide to play a defend instead of Ghostly armour, that's exactly the kind of pointless misplay that adds up to lost runs. Oh wow, 9:45 too, you are literally talking about how exhausting slimes will hurt the boss as you mistakenly exhaust a card to split him.
5:02 If he played the ghostly armor, and targetted the enemy doing 10 damage then he would have not taken damage that turn.
NL: Lets NOT split him

The sad thing is how predictable he is. Entire turn I was like "he's going to forget about ashes, exhaust a card, and split the boss at the highest possible health value."
That's how bad this is getting, the audience can see his mistakes before he even makes them.

Why did anyone think northernlion would be good at this game? Northernlions always been a brute forcer. It works fine in games like isaac, but a game entirely based on not making stupid decisions is like anethema to him.
Ryan we all love the videos but maybe it's time to go back to non ascension and try get some achievements maybe?

Yeah, I'm not sure the benefits of before/after. Like before you are making the next slime's health smaller so that their split threshold is lower (so you're less likely to have to deal with 4 tougher smallest slimes). Like at 74 hp they split at 37 but if they are at 54 they split at 27.
But saving them for after split can help you bail out of a bad situation (one is going to kill you this turn but is within 10 health of a split). Overall I'd say former is better but latter is safer.

Play like you were playing after you split the Slimeboss, in one of the worst possible ways, all the time and you have an actual chance at getting that A20 victory.

Slow down. Don't take so many cards. Remove strikes and defends. That's literally all you need to do.

We got to keep in mind that this is a20, it’s difficult and not necessarily meant for every run to have a chance. Yes he does make some mistakes but he is keeping at it, which is hard to do when the losses start piling up.

His Deck composition is trash. He stopped removing Basic Strikes, takes every Curse available and bloats his deck with cards like seeing red. You can get away with it on lower Ascencion, if you get the right Relics. But the game will kick his a** on Asc. 20 over and over again. So please NL, start removing cards, skip cards more often and TAKE YOUR TIME on the card selection screen.

That was bar none the worst pickup of a perfected strike I've ever seen. You had fewer fucking strikes than you even started with.

Im sorry RYab but i cant watch these anymore, i only come here to skip to the end and see if you win. I think all we want is wins, no matter the ascension level. maybe start doing all the daily challenges instead for a bit.
One day I believe that NL will learn to construct a good deck. Sometimes I don't know how he got this far. NL PLEASE stop trying to combine a strength deck with a defensive deck. Its just gonna result in hands that suck.
