yeah i just wish we had more exotics that influence gameplay such as sunbracers, star fire protocoll and osmiomancy all did or do. I think that's something every exotic should strive for. I just feel like otherwise it's just a wasted slot. They should be fun and special. Like an additional Aspect.
@@enloeeagle7258i disagree man. I don‘t think every exotic needs to compete for the meta, but every exotic should at least be strong enough to even make me consider using an exotic slot for it. It‘s a space magic fps looter game so if i‘m not feeling powerful, i‘m not really enjoying that.
More sweaty addendum- Ballidorse Wrathweavers was changed to be classified as a tier 4 surge, meaning it no longer buffs in combination with surge mods and is no longer justifiable in endgame dps setups, which sucks since Ballidorse/Cold Comfort was one of the few interestingly unique dps setups out there
@@atsukana1704it’s overall way better. Can use better mods for your legs and you can get a tier 4 damage buff at all times. Even before the changes only 1 percent of people used this shit for boss dps😂 so not stacking anymore doesn’t matter. All around it’s way better now
I'm dissapointed Winter's Guile didn't get the Wormgod Caress buff, since there are... well... WERE the exact same exotic since forever for different classes
@@The_Shadow_Gamingionic traces, devour, healing grenades. There's a big list of warlock loosing things. But don't worry we got threading s n pets to make up for it. 😂
For Felwinter, I highly recommend solar. With Heat Rises, all you have to do is be airborne to refund melee energy, so you don't need Monte Carlo. (Also, if you are doing lots of finishers, make sure to have Proximity Ward for that thicccc over shield).
@@lyg483 I wouldn't say it's better (all subjective). Base melee isn't as strong compared to solar, but grapple melee is good. Use what u like, I was just pointing out a different option that was also very good.)
Also worth noting for people who don't know, you don't have to actually *proc* Heat Rises to get melee refunds, you just have to jump and be in the air. Icarus Dash is an ability nobody should be using in PvE if they're trying to do damage, it's a PvP ability. It savages the effectiveness of a Solar warlock in PvE. But it's hard to overlook Dawn Chorus this season, that 200% extra on scorch is pretty strong combined with all the pro-scorch artifact mods now.
I can see the Apotheosis solar-spam working fairly well with Dragon's Breath to proc the ignitions for its own auto-loader, but that's basically just the same strat as the demo rocket one but with flame decals on the sides.
Apotheosis Veil feels like it was given some love in preparation for the new Warlock Super. I get the impression that its going to "extend" the new Super without extending it.
Idk man, I main warlock and there aren't really that many left that are just outright useless.. I don't think every exotic should break the game, but there is a viable build for almost every warlock exotic now
Bro you’re smoking if you don’t understand how well rounded overall warlocks are compared to other classes. PvE wise, the only class with one TRUE build I would say is stasis. But that’s just across the board for stasis and the fact osmiomancy is just so good haha. But I can understand what you’re saying. Like bro go check out plundathebootys most recent build. Idk why we have to act like the class doesn’t have something to show for it innately.
Ballidorse has actually become one of my favorite exotics to use on warlock. I'm a simp for overshields so that already puts it up there for me since warlocks can't really get them easily anymore (rip healing grenade), but it's also just nice to have an extra bit of safety when popping your rift. I also don't try and make myself sad by running it with coldsnap without osmio, and instead run a more aggressive build with wall grenade, shards, chains, fissures and refraction. This creates a fun loop of walling off an area, running behind the wall with the DR and popping a few crystals to shatter everything it froze, then popping a rift to re-freeze everything that didn't already die and get even MORE survivability with killing everything else. It's really been enjoyable, and gives you a more fun gameplay loop in super too since you can initiate with a wall grenade, freeze the target and set up crystals, then pop all the crystals and the target with the super pulse to do some pretty nice chunk damage. You won't out DPS a needlestorm/chaos reach but you'll still do pretty well, and you'll keep your team alive which has been a LIFesaver in the coil running around with the rando's I pair with trying to pulse them after every freeze of the boss to give them an overshield. I think it's very good, and you lambast it a bit harshly. Granted, when you only play with 3 and 6 stacks I can get why it wouldn't feel as impactful when your entire team is already god so why would an overshield ever help you right? but in the highest tier speed run set ups (that you haven't seen it seems) you can use it to great effect, and in the lower tiers where you got a bunch of new lights getting their ass blasted and don't know what a well is yet it's pretty helpful to, and I'd try it again with a wall and a dream and see how you like it. If nothing else it's a different playstyle to osmiomancy and I think it's fun. Felwinters is my other baby that I like a lot too, it on strand feels great with the 'spawn threadlings on finisher' fragment, just weaken everything then watch it all die as your free grenade kills it all. It with monti is a great crowd control option too, but yeah. It carried me during the many many master story runs I did for alloys before this season, and as stated Legend/Master content is this exotics 'sweet spot' for certain, I'd keep it in mind for the Final Shape Legendary campaign for those that are planning to actually do it. Or running around with it in the Coil is great too.
I’m also liking the ballidorse change - I love using it with verglas and bleak watcher. Resist with any verglas kill (making a tasks crystal) + faster grenade regen with shattering the crystal and an easy escape with the rift to give an overshield (which I’ve been running with empowering rift and actually been enjoying… surprisingly)
@@thestateofyum6991 healing rift is broken with it right now, yeah :( I didn’t even notice the rift not healing for a while though because I feel the overshield adds enough to my survivability by itself, which made me try out empowering rift (which I’m liking a lot, actually)
specifically with the ghost of the deep rocket launcher which is stasis. Before the rework Balidorse granted 15% extra stasis damage which stacked with everything else. It is very rare to have something that stacks with other buffs. Now it just plainly sucks because it does not stack anymore, it shares the buff with surge mods. They basically killed the only use case it had and made it worse than before.
Nice info for anyone wanting to try Felwinter's: Currently, Void Weakening effects have an interesting bug where any timer-based 30% Weaken can be extended by applying a timer-based 15% Weaken. Between Echo of Undermining and Child of the Old Gods, you can basically have a mini Tether that lasts longer and doesn't take your super.
Apotheosis veil could be an interesting with the new solarlock super, like it would basically just extend your super for 7 seconds (but without the flashy abilities)
I'm gonna test PlunderthaBooty's build with Karnsteins Armlets with void glaive. Radiant, overshield, woven mail, suspend, unravel. Looks fun and seems to have good survivability. Maybe even winters bite.
Warlocks are the only character that has no instant ability recharges and now that ability regen has been nerfed through mods and stuff it makes them feel like absolute crap. Titans can melee over and over again (with Banner of War buffing their melee and constantly healing them on top of Woven Mail for DR), you can throw hammer over and over again and never stop (with new sunspots to heal you and scorch/ignite them on every single throw); Hunters can dodge-punch and dodge-punch over and over again (while going invisible and doing things like jolting too), or you can throw infinite throwing knives without ever stopping (with endless ignitions) and all of these things work with 1-2 punch shotguns which buffs the living hell out of them on top of whichever exotics they're using to further buff the living hell out of them...but warlocks throw a grenade and pop a rift and then wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait no matter what subclass the Warlock plays that's all the Warlock can do. Sunbracers is the closest thing to instant abilities but it requires you to always be floating in air with no damage resist stuff protecting you which WILL get you killed in anything above at-level content. At least Devour got buffed for grenade ability regen on Warlocks and that can spam grenades pretty good but you NEED to have all the stats, plus the exotic armor, with a Demolitionist void primary gun, and the aspects and fragments set up in a very specific way. Warlocks do have Osmiomacy which is admittedly pretty good for grenade spam in PvE as long as you don't throw Bleakwatcher turrets which is the thing everyone uses Osmiomancy for and it works against the grenade spam. But this season in particular you can spam Bleakwatcher turrets because of the artifact that spawns crystals when you kill frozen targets which works with the fragment for grenade cooldown, however outside of this season Bleakwatcher turrets will really not be able to be spammed like they can be right now since it relies entirely on making crystals to shatter which is the one thing Bleakwatcher does not do on it's own. Warlocks used to have Starfire until it got nerfed which required you to be running Solar which has no damage resist capabilities like woven mail or anything and it required you to not run any healing stuff, you couldn't run healing rift, you couldn't run phoenix dive, and you couldn't run healing nades which seems like a fair trade for ability spam even though it still wasn't instant and required you to be in an empowering rift but Bungie doesn't think Warlocks should be allowed ability spam like Hunters and Titans do; but Hunters and Titans do get that INSTANT ability spam with those healing things, and the damage resist things, and the damage buff things on top of it all. Warlocks require all kinds of set-up with the perfect aspects and fragments paired with the right exotic armor piece and still needs the perfect stats with the right gun perks just to try and come close but yet still fall short of the stuff Titans and Hunters can do simply by mashing melee over and over again, or melee-dodging over and over again because of one aspect or one exotic leaving the rest of their build open to craft. It's BS honestly! Bungie nerfs things like Starfire based on what the sandbox was way back when they nerfed it, but now they change the sandbox without changing Starfire which makes Starfire SOOOOOOOO much worse now. Apparently it's ok to throw instant infinite ranged melees while being buffed by damage resist, healing things, and melee damage buffs but you can't throw infinite grenades even if you sacrifice all healing options on a subclass with no damage resist and this would only work when inside an empowering rift which requires you to stand still, and it still wouldn't be instantly regenerated like the melees on other characters...not allowed because people complain about Well of Radiance, that's why. Which leads me to the biggest concern for Warlocks (left turn ahead): if you want change in D2 then you need to complain louder than everyone else and never stop unless you have a huge audience who watches your streams and TH-cam videos. 3 content creators make a video and the starter pack gets pulled down INSTANTLY (as instant as a Titan or Hunter melee lol), which is good but also an example of how much sway content creators have over the sandbox of D2; 3 videos and Bungie instantly removes a whole revenue stream at a time they just had lay-offs because they're broke. That's how much sway creators have in D2!!!!! There are no Warlock main content creators big enough to be on Bungie's radar and the only ones that play Warlock are the most casual out of all content creators like Paul Tassi which means he never has sandbox ideas which would be good for Warlocks; but all those Titan and Hunter content creators got Stomp-335 back along with the most incessantly annoying complaining from Hunter mains on Twitter. Warlocks have almost no advocates compared to Hunters and Titans who don't want Warlocks to have broken things but they should so they advocate for it to be so and that's where Bungie gets their feedback so Warlocks get screwed until they're so bad that something obviously has to be done to help them and then it's just a pity change at that point. Well of Radiance will be nuked soon because of this very reason, Salt doesn't like Well and Bungie will have a new Solar super they want people to use which ironically will just be ability spam but only for the duration of the super and nothing else so Well will be nuked into oblivion in a sandbox that nuked all the other Solar warlock stuff back when it was based on a ability spam which is no longer the case making solar Warlocks that much more worse while those other characters get all those other benefits I mentioned with their instantly recharging abilities. Warlocks need advocates but that will never happen.
Lots of people in the comments already pointing out how good Karnstein's are now, but to put some math to it the gloves previously gave 50HP instantly on a melee kill and 30hp/second. Now you get 180HP instantly and 35HP/second. Get a finisher and that increases to 50HP/second. It's actually a pretty sizable buff to the exotic.
When you apply the Same mechanics to proccing sunbracers (Heat Rises, Scorch with melee, ignite with phoenix dive) to Felwinters Helm you then gain radiant, resto x2, and Weaken. Additionally, if you choose the heal Grenade to consume for heat rises youre constantly getting cure. Heat rises also removes the need for monte, so just build into always having a grenade. Firesprites and Elemental charge+Kickstart easy. You will restore so fast you can even use Tommy's Matchbook if youre that kinda masochist.
This has become the norm for Warlocks… born to Nova forced to Well. None of the other options are viable in high end content. I can think of 2 builds that are golden. The rest are mid af. I just want to have a damage super augment exotic. Like using your Well to increase rate of fire and give weapons scorch at the cost of less healing.
well from my experience as a lock main strand is like the only other semi-common subclass aside from well needlestorm and the melee are both good and necrotic grips + weaver's trance is still good with something like thorn imo
Lunfaction boots boosts Well Dps and you can give your teammates scorch rounds, you just need to run the artifact perk that gives team mates radiant with your super use. Dawnblade can also hit for 800k with Dawn Chorus this season if you still dont want to well. Edit:Apotheosis Veil is also augmenting your super damage in a way. Being able to spam fusion grenades along with rockets is a boost to dps from super use
The problem is Bungie keeps talking about how they don't want Well to be mandatory but keep designing encounters that would be hellish without a constant powerful healing. It's awful and one of the big proofs that the company doesn't really want to invest in making a fun sandbox. Warlock has plenty of great options that can be fun between Strand, Void (last season's gauntlets are so fun to use) and even Stasis (though this has been a bit more boring since the new mod economy in Lightfall), but what does it matter, if you're not running Well you're sabotaging your team.
I really don't know what Bungie could possibly do with Shadebinder. Osmiomancy is so damn powerful and fun, that I dont know what they could make to even hope to compete with it. They cant just nerf Osmiomancy to make room for others, or the viability of Stasis warlock drops significantly. Especially after the nerfs to ability regen, and how little orbs stasis makes.
Maybe shift some of what osmiomancy does onto aspects, making it less tethered to the exotic. An insta-super would be nice as well. In general, in D2, for raids and dungeons, insta-supers generally shine better than roaming supers, and that's always been a struggle. Even in Nightfalls, I'd say it's pretty even between roaming and instants. Stasis Titan and Warlocks are chained down by their dog ass roaming supers with low damage on single target and only OK levels of CC.
I like trying different things and I honestly don’t think datto gave the ballidorse buff enough credit. Double grenades with osmiomancy are nice but if u build into your grenade it’s very easy to have another stasis turret before the first one expires while still using ballodorse. Free surge mods are great in pve and let u build into survivability, and potentially buffing your entire teams heavy damage is also pretty powerful. Finally, it triggers me that people still don’t know how to use the warlock super to its full potential: u have to drop a stasis turret near a target and let that freeze it so u don’t use your super energy to send out the projectiles, letting u get double the shatter pulses and double damage.
Karnsteins and Apotheosis Veil are W’s in my opinion, the healing on any class with your melee is quite strong especially with it’s stronger healing effect now and it’s just really fun to have Starfire levels of spam grenades for 8 seconds when you pop your super, also pairs pretty well with dragons breathe, especially after grenade spam ends
Apotheosis on wellock is like prenerf starfire's little brother. Grenade and melee spam with dragon's breath and maybe a good fusion is pretty good for dps. It melts anything that's not higher level content and it's good at clearing a room so you can breathe at the bare minimum
Ballidorse might be okay, it just depends on what “Frost Armor” actually entails. This goes for Icefall Mantle too, since they practically do the same thing now minus Icefall nerfing your movement. But both will be involved with the upcoming stasis self and ally buff.
@@CephalonAxii I have tried it with Vex! Carried me through the ogre encounter of the coil. I was on strand though in hindsight I wished I was on void for survivability AND damage 😅
I am that person running the invis finisher build with Felwinter's helm (been running it since season of the deep), I also run it with ruinous effigy for some extra spice and crowd control, the change is nice, not very noticeable for my gamestyle but nice. KARNSTEIN ARMLETS THOUGH, let me tell you, I made a build using Tommy's Matchbook and ohohoho having permanent restoration and radiant with ember of empyrean is just what that gun needed. I'm just spraying that thing and shredding everything up to yellow bars as long as there's a red bar to snipe with celestial fire to get the engine going. Also if you use a finisher it gives you restoration 2 which is insane. The general feeling of "my gun is burning me alive but as long as I have bullets I don't die" is just so fun
I definitely think Osmiomancy Gloves are still the more meta pick for Stasis Warlocks, and will continue to be. But Ballidorse is now a lot more fun than before. We didn't have a Frostpulse exotic before (unless you count Vesper), but now we do, and I really like using it just for screwing around and finding out.
I use for support is dps stages when my team gets an over shield when I pop super means I don't have to be a rift bitch and standing next to them the whole time. Also the rift for frost pulse is nice in coil activitys sincs alot of adds are agro and your status shield counts for you as well so you can.leave your rift and still have an over shield
Yea I was doing shattered throne with a new guy and used it. Is it amazing? No and I would probably no use it on something like GOtD. But easier dungeons, non master nightfalls and regular content it’s a lot of fun
The ballidorse changes are a nerf. The damage buff previously stacked with everything whereas surges do not. Not to mention that nobody uses frostpulse.
It's so fucked that they only barely touched 4 exotics when hunter and titan got almost double that and with much more impactful changes. They really hate us warlocks. I can already see the new super in TFS being useless.
Felwinter’s Helm is extremely useful with Strand’s 3 melee charges and it grants an overshield when using a weapon with Repulsor Brace. Woven Mail + Overshield makes a pretty strong combo.
The Karnstein change is fun for me. For me (I don’t know about too many others) the change means easier restoration x2. I don’t really enjoy Phoenix dive as much as others so getting rest x2 with only a finisher really fills the gap for me. Finish one guy, and then go to town with your solar weapon of choice. It’s not gonna magically make everyone a god, but I absolutely appreciate another immortal warlock build with less steps. 😂 the other changes are so… blah. Apotheosis is a little neat in strand but the only use case I could think of was for boss nuking. It I found myself feeling like “do I REALLY need 40(ish) threadlings here?” And the answer is usually no lol
Glaives are also bonkers with them. Feels like your survivability went up with these changes, the 3x Cure is a big punch of added health and then restoration is ticking away even without a finisher. But 2x resto is obviously even better.
Yeah all of the warlock melees are now meant to be little spells you throw at enemies usually to debuff them besides the arc slide, solar snap and grapple melee
And warlocks remain the most nurffed into the ground class I’ve ever seen. Seriously, at this point the only thing I care about is them giving nova bomb a second activation per use and bring back true vortex mastery. Not the weak trash we have right now.
Its seems that datto even didn’t know what Ballidorse USED to be used for. Speedrunners like aegis used to use it in combination with the cold comfort rocket launcher and a bug that allows you to self apply the damge buff to give everyone a free extra rocket damage. That is no longer necessary as it went from 15% (or whatever it was) to only 3 over surge mods. Ballidorse was a nerf as it no longer stacks with surge mods and the neutral game is pretty lackluster.
I rarely ever use exotics anymore. They’re all essentially just “this super has a boost in damage” or “this weapon does more damage and reloads when using a melee of the same element”
Yeah I have yet to see any good exploration of how good a three person (or larger) team performs if you bring all three sects, one per person. That's what the whole set was made for, to boost the other two sects, that in return boosts you. Compared to some semi-lackluster exotic people like to run it seems like Aeons are criminally underused at least by pre-made organized teams.
Karnsteins are awesome now -they were good before. Especailly on solar as you can use ember of empyrean - get a finisher and have x2 restoration as long as you are slaying out with your abilities and solar weapons. I've been using them as a hot swap exotic - get a finisher and maybe 1 kill to extend my resto timer then swap to sunbracers and burn the world while having x2 restoration up.
Slept a bit on the karnstein change here. The restoration x2 granted by a finisher is stronger than the old heal, and being restoration it can be propped along by solar warlocks to keep it active even in situations with fewer finisher chances. That ever cult-classic of an exotic has something like potential in high end solo activities now. It is probably the other most noteworthy change after ballidorse. But I think people are still reaching for the sunbracers or dawn chorus for solar lock.
Winter's Guile was Wormgod's Caress before they existed. They got the same rework last time, and now its left to rot yet again while Wormgods gets very solid ease of use and qol changes. Why bungie?
Naw, stasis warlock is busted already I really hope it buffs poor titan and hunter, that shit is so ass I would take a 2.0 light subclass over that dogshit
fun fact: Felwinters was my most used exotic last season. I am a warlock main and the second most used exo was on titan. The helmet is amazing on solar and the buff is actually really good So there are 3 types of play depending on the difficulty 1. Easy peasy: This is where it is not as useful as the others, yet it can still be used to kill chonkier targets easier and or faster, while keeping literally everything around you debuffed so you can focus 2. the harder content: this includes stuff like legend campaings. Here Felwitner truely shines as everythign dies to your melee and if it does not, the ignition of the melee (which does also count) will kill the ads. It's funny to see you melee a big target to get an ignition to see an ad die to it and now everyone is debuffed. On finisher on healthier targets the range is insane and you literally can get out of a harder situation wihtout a worry and even finish the rest off quite easily. Debuffing a boss also is in this category, since that is what it's msotly used for and ain't all that hard 3. the real hard stuff, nokia phone: this is where you get some trouble by just existing. Yet Felwinters can still put in some really good work, since the redbars still die to the ignition. And even then you can just finish them. On champions it also helps alot, since they now take more damage and when you finish said Champions, the whole area is not not able to attack you and takes more damage, leaving you to easily deal with that. Going for debuffs on boss can be difficult here, since they might kill you before you get the finisher and they will be able to shoot you afterwards anyway. Imo the best thing to use on warlock is snap melee and heat rises. Snap is incredibly powerful and heat rises gives you your melee back after 4 kills, only requirement being not touhing the ground, so you can literally just jump once when you are about to kill them. Also the buff really made a big impact. You now have more time to deal with debuffed enemies after a melee and finisher and the extra range is also nice when you only kill redbars. On anything else I say go for Finishers, since that is better than just a melee (longer debuff time and mroe range) I also have that "finisher bitch" build, yet I do not enjoy them as invisibility is useless when nothing shoots you anyway and vollatile doesn't grand you anything unless a smol explosion (controlled demo on titan is nice though). Strand also has alot of stuff (grapple and normal melee), yet it is nowhere near as consistent as solar. Also Felwinters is nice when speedrunning, since you are already running solar and have a way to quickly debuff the entire room on repeat without much effort at all Actually making a melee build and only finishing high level targets is what it really makes it so op. Try it out, it will be fun I always love to rant abotu Felwinter being secretly op because it just is. While sunbracers are definetly stronger (controlling a room by everythign being dead is very effective) I really do not like that gameplay loop as much. I just like funny exotic controlling the entire room with one action alone. and when you make a build out of this the mods really help you alot when getting that melee back and phoenix dive is a game changer. I don't even use a damage grenade. Healing is good for clutch and I like using my guns more than my abilities. The snap melee being the exception as it just is that satisfying
I’m a huge stasis fan, wrathweavers is my new favorite, only if getting the OS didn’t prevent healing from your rift, it’s a huge bug, but I like the exotic more then exclusively cold snap
I've been on the Felwinter's Helm boat ever since I realized you could proc its perk with Grapple Melee. The Aspects I went for it are The Wanderer and Mindspun Invocation. It all works well since the Threadlings and the unravel end up making Tangles which add to more Grapples or suspending enemies. I normally pair it with Ager's Scepter to freeze enemies for an easier grapple setup against adds, but I might consider trying it with The Navigator with Catalyst for rapid grapples a la Strandoceps Titan. If the Special Ammo economy would allow it, I'd have an Energy One-Two Punch shotgun for those beefier targets
Nearly all of the exotic “buffs” warlocks have received this year aren’t even buffs, they’re simply slight changes that don’t improve the exotic in anyway. I’m not really surprised considering we’ve consistently received the shaft since class 3.0. But it still feels awful. I can’t help but feel that this is done intentionally to keep warlocks on one build and one build alone: AKA well of radiance. There’s so many build options for other classes which are based off an awesome exotic, or an awesome aspect; warlocks don’t have that. This is going to feel especially awful when well of radiance is inevitably nerfed into the ground in the near future. There’s literally nothing left for the class after that. The only way I can see the class being on the same level as the others is if like 90% of exotics are changed to be viable. Our abilities need a rework to. I’m pretty sure there’s a major power gap between classes when my nova bomb, if it doesn’t explode before it reaches an enemy, does less damage than a titan melee. Titans can go god mode dps and ad clear with banner of war and sythoceps. There’s cuirass of the falling star for dps. There’s the easy mode no death hammer build with lorely splendor. Etc… Hunters can go hand canon dps hog with lucky pants if they desire it. Theres infinite survival melee build with assassins cowl. There’s a void tank build with omnioculs or a void dps build with gyrafalcons. Etc… Warlocks can go well of radiance with phoenix protocol or we’ll of radiance with lunfaction boots if it’s a dps phase; that’s pretty much it. I don’t even want to discuss pvp. The warlock class doesn’t belong there anymore.
@@life-destiny1196 Not really, without well warlocks no longer have a viable option for a super. Every alternative warlock super is useless along with the overwhelming majority of exotics.
@@npc6254to be fair, for pvp I’ve been running stasis for a while now with osmiomancy. It’s the only pvp loadout that I can really get value with since everything else is just kinda trash. Unrelated somewhat, but I’m also kinda sick and tired of getting asscheek cosmetics too. Like hunters and titans get sick ass helmets and cool chests/arms, etc and we get random smartphone faceplates or motorcycle helmets, bath robes, and you never see the legs anyways so they don’t even matter. Oh and what’s a bond? I always forget it’s even a class item. It genuinely makes me pissed seeing my titan main friend make these awesome looking outfits pretty much effortlessly, and I can hardly even find a good helmet
I feel you, but I doubt Bungie has any agenda against warlocks in particular. I think it's just a mix of the more popular classes getting a bit more focus and just a lack of any creative ideas. Also, let's not kid ourselves and say that warlocks are unplayable or something, we're a good class, we're just mid in terms of gameplay. We can do some support, some damage, and our abilities... well they synchronize, sort of... What really hurt was the Final Shape preview and the only thing to show for Warlocks was... a solar buddy on Rift cast, woohoo?
@@life-destiny1196 Except Well of Radiance isn't even used that often. It's primarily for boss fights or when you need an emergency safe space. In other scenarios, you're just trying to clear the rooms with sunbracers or something.
Balidorse is for support pvp, Iron Banner type of push. You wait for the hunt and then use your super to constantly buff your team from far away as you hide out where it's safe. Use your grenades in between pulses to freeze rather than Winter's Wrath so it extends longer. It's niche but effective.
One important thing about the change to karnstein armlets... you get restoration x2 for 8 seconds on finishers. X1 for melee and glaive melees, buuuuut... glaive and charged melee kills extend the x2 restoration timer. Just get one glaive melee kill every 8 seconds and you never run out of restoration x2
Ballidorse should just change the super to be a big slow grenade that buffs damage. We already have exotics that change supers like those titan gloves they just got. Anything to not be stuck in your super.
Karnsteins are crazy good right now. Proccing restoration x2 on a finisher is very easy and the timer resets whenever you get a melee kill. That includes glaives. Once you got it going you can mow through anything with a glaive without dying. I feel like it's slept on a bit.
With Bungie recently buffing super only exotics to have a slight neutral benefit or method to recharge your super built in, I'm very surprised that Apotheosis didn't also get that treatment. Maybe causing ability kills to give extra super energy would've been nice? Shards of Galanor and Nighthawk feel great now after receiving similar changes.
The ballidorse wrathweavers removed its one niche use in endgame pve, which was providing a weapon boost (specifically with cold comfort) that was compatible with all other types of weapon bonuses. The change to an x4 weapon surge effectively removed it from the top tier dps meta, which sucks as it was a very fun and interesting usage for the exotic.
Karnstein change is actually pretty neat, since having restoration x2 on demand and restoration x1 easily available makes Ember of Empyrean builds a lot easier to get going.
Hi I was the person that said that people had not found a use for Balidorse. I appologize I was inccorect. There were some speedrun teams that have used it with some success I just had not seen anything for it and watched a video from a speedrunner a while back that said they had not found a strat where they are used. The reason it was used was because it was a 15% buff that scalled with stasis surge and could allow extremely high damage burst windows by using someone with balidorse and ghorn and then everyone else would run radiant dance machine to very quickly spam out rockets from cold comfort. Now after the damage was changed to a surge effect it will not be used for speedruns. Anyways my b on that.
Very happy about felwinters. Had a build with it for Finisher spam on void, yes i learnt it from aztecross but i put my spins on it. Invis, weaken and volatile from a finisher is just so fun
back when spoils of war was key for gms i ran assassins cowl hunter and it was super active being behind enemy lines to get the finishers off. Some of the most suprising fun i have had
Karstein is MUCH better after the patch and people still don't realize. Old karnstein was 1 melee kill = 50hp + 30hp regen per second for 8 seconds. Now it's 1 melee kill = 130hp + 35 hp regen for 8 seconds. BUT you can now get resto x2 and make it 50 hp regen per second. And you can add the one fragment that extends restoration so it's 12 seconds of resto X2. Every melee kill after resto x2 proc extends it's duration back up to 12 seconds. So you only need to get resto x2 once and you can keep it active forever (you can also use phoenix dive to get resto x2, so you dont even need to use a finisher to start the gameplay loop!). Glaives just got a really good buff so using them with Karstein means you can clear an entire room in high level content and survive no problem so long as you are not stupid. And well of radiance is still OP, so you are probably already on solar subclass in high level content anyways. Karstein is the best exotic in the entire game for extended survivability
Felwinter's lowkey very strong on void, has been my main void setup. With the fragments that allow you to spread volatile and go invisible and pair with overshield finisher your survivability is really strong in hard solo content. Also pairing with collective obligation is nuts as a finisher can allow you to get 2/3 void debuffs immediately.
Combining Karnsteins with a glaive definitely feels better now. The heals are pretty strong, it's like an uber-Devour but you have to get up in their grill to earn it. I've been comboing with the Judgment of Kelgorath with Close to Melee, and it's a lot of fun. With a Solar Warlock you can also put on fragments that add up to every melee mass kill essentially refunds your snap melee, but that will not be as strong in higher end content where red bars soak up more damage. But for survivability Karnsteins + glaive is pretty fun.
I'm really hoping Ballidorse eventually gets some sort of passive benefit that gives you a bump to shatter damage. It just doesn't do enough, and Frostpulse isn't a useful aspect for PvE. In PvP it's great but the buff from Ballidorse is short and mostly inconsequential.
The one speed run strat where ballidorse is used is prophecy. Current world record is 1 warlock and 2 hunters all using cold comfort for final boss bake. Which proves dattos point. Not the meta in any sense
I started playing again after a break from D2 and I noticed that the keyword change on the Karstein is in fact a nerf you no longer get the renewable healing after a melee kill.
Karnstein actually is amazing rn. You get a finisher you get restoration 2x for 12 seconds if you have the extended duration on resto and if not its 8 seconds. While using this its really and i mean, REALLY hard to die
I've noticed that it really can feel like warlocks don't have as many options as titans or hunters for game changing exotics not necessarily good exotics, but exotics with unique or interesting enough perks that actively change how you play
Bro. The karnstein adjust was huge. Cure x3 is absolutely bonkers compared to the 50 hp base heal. Additionally, it got finishers added as a trigger, which put it to 8 seconds of 50 hp/s vs the old 30 hp/s. And once you proc resto x2 from a finisher; melee kills will refresh it to 8 seconds again instead of overriding with resto x1. So it’s still a huge buff on every subclass, but solar can take it further by giving you empyrean to continually extend resto x2 and solace makes it start / reset to 12 seconds. Yeah, warlock can get resto x2 from heat rises + phoenix dive or touch of flame healing grenade, but that means giving up the fusion grenade and/or relying on phoenix dive. All that to say: karnsteins buff is huge.
Healing rift outright doesnt work with ballidorse wrathwreavers on. Im guessing its a bug but if its intentional then thats crap and it reallyyy takes it down a peg for me. I think Ill go back to osmio if its suppose to work that way.
ballidorse should also give your teammates the shatter damage buff with the wave, that way you can focus on freezing the enemy and have your teammates chunking with big double damage shatters, it would give it a unique DPS rotation in team situations.
It’s the season of sunbracers, I think it’s the only thing that competes with titan melee builds outside of cenotaph as a support build. But holy sh*t is it incredible rn with all the solar mods. This is all super meh and disappointing, it’s funny that balidorse actually got nerfed in the one specific thing it does really well.
worthy to note that speedrunners actually found use cases for balidorse wrathweavers PRIOR to the patch. One was for boosting cold comfort RDM spam (niche but best optimized dps strat) because the damage buff from balidorse used to stack with everything else. It wasn't really required for anything but it was in theory the optimal thing to do. You could also cancel the super so that the warlock wouldn't be stuck on useless super too. Now bungie actually nerfed this niche aspect as t4 stasis doesn't stack anymore. The second use case for balidorse was for Crota's End Ir Yut to kill the wizards through the barriers. Which is now a dead strategy if we are to believe Bungie's most recent patch notes. So Balidorse went from very niche to basically useless in a patch that was supposed to buff it (I think?).
Apotheosis seemed neat with dragons breath to help refund the ammo. And kinda revives the starfire setup where you can spam abilities and dps with weapons. It's possible for new tech to be found with the reworks but overall apoth and ballidorse were the only good ones.
I know this comment is a bit late but how do you think Apotheosis Veil will synergize with light falls new solar sub class? Because they both act similarly the new sub class just introduces new ability's and might last longer.
They should really just have updated winters to be the same as roaring flames/combination blow and given it karnstiens perk also and give karnstiens a new thing kinda like the knucklehead treatment.
From the perspective of a returning D1 player, I must say some of the “issues” pointed out by the community seem so bizarre when I can enter a room with 100 red bars and prock enough grenades to turn the whole room to ash by chaining a few melees in the air with Sunbracers. That thing is op as fuck.
I don't care so much about the exotic changes cuz I'm just happy to be using Dawn Chorus again. Made a Polaris Lance build for GMs a few seasons ago that I hadn't touched in a while so I just threw on Dragon's Breath and changed some mods around and it's going absolutely ham with this artifact.
Ive got a karnstiens build where everytime i do a finisher i get full health and overshield. If you’re running solar you can keep the the restoration x2 going permanently.
Idk about you but getting x2 Restoration and Cure on a Finisher with Karnstein Armlets is actually fantastic. Been using them for solo legend lost sectors and love them.
Cool idea for Apotheosis veil; ability damage gives super energy. Encourage ability spam to get super quickly, for crazy ability spam. Rinse and repeat
Karnsteins is quite fun with the glaive reworks, am a big fan. Ballidorse seems like it's going to be a pvp exotic, kinda in the veins of old sunspots... You get bonus damage, bonus survivability...and if someone was pushing you, they are now in trouble. As far as PvE goes, it's only fair this one eats the same bat all the Titan exotics did. It's pretty obvious Bungie doesn't want too many independently stacking damage buffs so that it's easier to balance boss HP, and that's fine by me. Apotheosis is neat.... but I think you still get the same effect using Verity's, though you need a pair of them it's still just way more impressive.
For dps imo apotheosis veil on strand is meta. This is quite literally how dps on starfire worked except strand. It of course can also be used for solar if need be. But hey wut do ik I’m a hunter main who occasionally delves into warlocks.
Ballidorse actually got a nerf for speedrunning because they normalised the surge bonus you got which previously was actually higher than what any other option you could get. So all they've done is killed it's niche use whilst not improving its other effects enough to warrant using it. Honestly Osmiomancy and cold snaps/turrets are just too good to warrant anything else
I just don't understand why winter's guile is not buff or change when similar exotic for titan is change ? And can bungie give warlock a exotique that buff one of the super like others class ? i really like the apotheosis change, and even is this is not "good" it's really fun and i like they type of change. Bungie you have like 60 exotic that is actually just trash and minor buff or change can be so good for the game
Kind of silly that Winter's Guile didn't get the Wormgod's buff
REAL, ive been begging for both of these to get buffed
yeah i just wish we had more exotics that influence gameplay such as sunbracers, star fire protocoll and osmiomancy all did or do. I think that's something every exotic should strive for. I just feel like otherwise it's just a wasted slot. They should be fun and special. Like an additional Aspect.
But a lot of the other exotics ARE fun. They're just not STRONG, which is what it sounds like you want. And every exotic does not need to be strong
@@enloeeagle7258every exotic should at least be good thou. Doesnt need to be strong just good.

For Felwinter, I highly recommend solar. With Heat Rises, all you have to do is be airborne to refund melee energy, so you don't need Monte Carlo. (Also, if you are doing lots of finishers, make sure to have Proximity Ward for that thicccc over shield).
Strand is still better, you have 3 melees and Grapple counts as a special Melee, letting you go in with ease
My brain turned off for a second and I thought you were talking about the shotgun.

Resist with any verglas kill (making a tasks crystal) + faster grenade regen with shattering the crystal and an easy escape with the rift to give an overshield (which I’ve been running with empowering rift and actually been enjoying… surprisingly)
ok is it just me, or does the rift not heal when you have ballidorse on?
@@thestateofyum6991 healing rift is broken with it right now, yeah :(
I didn’t even notice the rift not healing for a while though because I feel the overshield adds enough to my survivability by itself, which made me try out empowering rift (which I’m liking a lot, actually)
Ballidorse was used in prophecy speedruns recently for a quicker kill.
specifically with the ghost of the deep rocket launcher which is stasis.

Nice info for anyone wanting to try Felwinter's:
Currently, Void Weakening effects have an interesting bug where any timer-based 30% Weaken can be extended by applying a timer-based 15% Weaken.

@@jackburkel4119 Awesome, I'll definitely try it out!
Thank you for giving me my opinions on the new Warlock exotic buffs Mr. Datto!
Like using your Well to increase rate of fire and give weapons scorch at the cost of less healing.
well from my experience as a lock main strand is like the only other semi-common subclass aside from well
needlestorm and the melee are both good and necrotic grips + weaver's trance is still good with something like thorn imo
@@Ricardo50493 the arti perk only applies scorch to unscorched targets
The problem is Bungie keeps talking about how they don't want Well to be mandatory but keep designing encounters that would be hellish without a constant powerful healing. It's awful and one of the big proofs that the company doesn't really want to invest in making a fun sandbox.
Warlock has plenty of great options that can be fun between Strand, Void (last season's gauntlets are so fun to use) and even Stasis (though this has been a bit more boring since the new mod economy in Lightfall), but what does it matter, if you're not running Well you're sabotaging your team.
That rolling ignite joke...nice to see the roots Datto
I really don't know what Bungie could possibly do with Shadebinder.
Osmiomancy is so damn powerful and fun, that I dont know what they could make to even hope to compete with it.
They cant just nerf Osmiomancy to make room for others, or the viability of Stasis warlock drops significantly. Especially after the nerfs to ability regen, and how little orbs stasis makes.
They'll probably end up nerfing osmiomancy
They need to just make a new super for it that's an insta cast super.
@@snottytoe6957Ballidorse should change the super to do that. Make them a stasis pyrogale with a big slow field that buffs stasis damage or something.
Karnsteins and Apotheosis Veil are W’s in my opinion, the healing on any class with your melee is quite strong especially with it’s stronger healing effect now and it’s just really fun to have Starfire levels of spam grenades for 8 seconds when you pop your super, also pairs pretty well with dragons breathe, especially after grenade spam ends
the grenade melee spam with veil is lots of fun
Apotheosis on wellock is like prenerf starfire's little brother. Grenade and melee spam with dragon's breath and maybe a good fusion is pretty good for dps. It melts anything that's not higher level content and it's good at clearing a room so you can breathe at the bare minimum
Couldn't agree more! Thought karnsteins would be a nerf but it pairs so well with a solar build that just chains radiant and restoration
Karnsteins always provided healing on any class tho

Ballidorse might be okay, it just depends on what “Frost Armor” actually entails.
This goes for Icefall Mantle too, since they practically do the same thing now minus Icefall nerfing your movement.
But both will be involved with the upcoming stasis self and ally buff.
I love that wraith weavers got changed to surges which means it's not stackable and it's less of a damage buff.
Karnsteine's buff is fantastic. Especially with a glaive

Felwinter's helm is so good if you give it to the other 2 classes, melee and finisher are just not as easy to do as a warlock
Yeah all of the warlock melees are now meant to be little spells you throw at enemies usually to debuff them besides the arc slide, solar snap and grapple melee
it's pretty good on strand, I quite like felwinters and monte carlo on strand
I’d love to see a video on the aeon buffs, I’m curious how much better they are now.
Datto, you do these review videos really well. Thanks for the info!
Where was our SKULL OF DIRE AHAMKARA BUFF/REWORK THIS SEASON? C’mon man 😩
Karnsteins are awesome now -they were good before.
Why bungie?
I’m hoping when they add the “frost armor” survivability stuff they were talking about they do more stasis buffs with it, especially for Warlocks…
Naw, stasis warlock is busted already
I really hope it buffs poor titan and hunter, that shit is so ass I would take a 2.0 light subclass over that dogshit
@@thecanadiankiwibirb4512Stasis Hunter is the strongest of the three at this point. Hunters just haven’t “discovered” it yet.
Stasis warlock is probably the best stasis class...i just want another super shit is sooo ass
Stasis in general is pretty sad in pve, we warlocks are just lucky to get the 1 stasis build that is justifiable above shooting edz dregs lol
@@thebygonekinghow so?
fun fact: Felwinters was my most used exotic last season. I am a warlock main and the second most used exo was on titan. The helmet is amazing on solar and the buff is actually really good
So there are 3 types of play depending on the difficulty
1. Easy peasy: This is where it is not as useful as the others, yet it can still be used to kill chonkier targets easier and or faster, while keeping literally everything around you debuffed so you can focus
2. the harder content: this includes stuff like legend campaings. Debuffing a boss also is in this category, since that is what it's msotly used for and ain't all that hard
3. the real hard stuff, nokia phone: this is where you get some trouble by just existing.
On anything else I say go for Finishers, since that is better than just a melee (longer debuff time and mroe range)
I also have that "finisher bitch" build, yet I do not enjoy them as invisibility is useless when nothing shoots you anyway and vollatile doesn't grand you anything unless a smol explosion (controlled demo on titan is nice though). Strand also has alot of stuff (grapple and normal melee), yet it is nowhere near as consistent as solar. Also Felwinters is nice when speedrunning, since you are already running solar and have a way to quickly debuff the entire room on repeat without much effort at all
Actually making a melee build and only finishing high level targets is what it really makes it so op. Try it out, it will be fun
I always love to rant abotu Felwinter being secretly op because it just is.
Etc…
Hunters can go hand canon dps hog with lucky pants if they desire it. Theres infinite survival melee build with assassins cowl. There’s a void tank build with omnioculs or a void dps build with gyrafalcons. Etc…
Warlocks can go well of radiance with phoenix protocol or we’ll of radiance with lunfaction boots if it’s a dps phase; that’s pretty much it.
I don’t even want to discuss pvp. The warlock class doesn’t belong there anymore.
that says less about warlock and more about well of radiance having been overpowered for years
@@life-destiny1196 Not really, without well warlocks no longer have a viable option for a super.
Apotheosis Veil bros, we're winning even harder now.
Something worth noting is that relic weapon supers like the sword in crota does trigger apotheosis!
You mean warlock builds are basically going to be the same as last season? Who would have thought.
Frostpulse in PvP is worse than either shoulder bash or suspend dive arguably comprehensively.
Very happy about felwinters. Had a build with it for Finisher spam on void, yes i learnt it from aztecross but i put my spins on it. Invis, weaken and volatile from a finisher is just so fun
The disrespect of that vandal at 9:20 XD
back when spoils of war was key for gms i ran assassins cowl hunter and it was super active being behind enemy lines to get the finishers off.
Other Warlock exotic that now need a look up/rework:
Skull of dire Ahamkara
Winter's Guile
Secant filaments
I was hyped for Stasis update... but man... I feel like we got jabaited.
I've noticed that it really can feel like warlocks don't have as many options as titans or hunters for game changing exotics
not necessarily good exotics, but exotics with unique or interesting enough perks that actively change how you play
Karnstiens now also proc on finishers. That is a bigger buff than you might realize
Karnsteins getting cure x3 means the instant heal has gone from 50 HP to 180 HP, it’s an almost invincible glaive build option
worthy to note that speedrunners actually found use cases for balidorse wrathweavers PRIOR to the patch.
That would've been too good, you know its Warlocks' turn to be ignored by bungie
From the perspective of a returning D1 player, I must say some of the “issues” pointed out by the community seem so bizarre when I can enter a room with 100 red bars and prock enough grenades to turn the whole room to ash by chaining a few melees in the air with Sunbracers. That thing is op as fuck.
I like the Felwinter Helm buff. I’m already used to running around finishing things from using Severance Enclosure 😎
Glaive void build with felwinters is honestly one of my favorite builds and has been for a while in master content. Felwinters buff is great for me.
I don't care so much about the exotic changes cuz I'm just happy to be using Dawn Chorus again. Made a Polaris Lance build for GMs a few seasons ago that I hadn't touched in a while so I just threw on Dragon's Breath and changed some mods around and it's going absolutely ham with this artifact.
wonder if apotheosis is supposed to synergize with radiance and maybe the balance pass was planned before final shape was postponed
I wish we could get something that really increases/changes one of are supers similar to what hunters got with nighthawk
You can run the Melee exotic in the Coil, and if you grab the melee buffs from riven, they give you infinite melees, which is a hella lot of fun
The rework for Rath weavers should’ve been more focused for solo play
Veil should be tied into Eye of another World .. That would be quite good to be honest
Then give Viel something different altogether
Karnsteins are solid if you don’t like running heat rises to get x2 restoration.
In before, Saltdegreppo cries about Sunbracers needing nerded....
Bungie just wants warlocks to be well bots and its so boring. God forbid we have a fun exotic
Right before the dungeon too, thanks for the advice :)
