SO many bangers could really do with the bass being more prominent, especially in rock music. sometimes i discover amazing basslines from songs ive liked for years just from stumbling on someone covering it on youtube.
That's because basslines usually are "heavy" frequencies that take up a lot of space. Therefore, in the mixing/mastering process of music production, they usually end up lowering it to be able to bring forward the other elements of the song. This is usually the case for music with more elements, like Rock. Since Pop and Hip Hop have fewer elements and are meant to be played in clubs, the bass can be more prominent.
tbf a lot of ppl "play bass" but very few are on your level of groove, phrasing, melodic understanding, rhythm, soul, and technique. you truly are my favorite youtube musician, and if it were the 80s, you would be my go-to session bassist. the world of music is very lucky to have someone like you.
I got my first bass last month and as it’s my first instrument I’m horrible, I’m hoping to be at least half as good as you one day you’ve been one of my biggest inspirations through this process, thank you. 🙏
MARK SMITH HELPED ME A LOT , IT TAKES LOTS OF PRACTICE, I FINALLY GOT MY HANDS IN SHAPE ITS BIG PART OF IT, I HAVE A FENDER JAZZ BASS ITS NICE WHAT DO YOU HAVE
In 10 years you have reached what most never will. Excellent playing--your timing, your anticipation of the notes, just...your everything. You've got it, girlie! Keep it up!
Glad to have seen you progress the last few years. As everyone else, eager to see where the next ten will take you. You have brightened a lot of people's lives with your music. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for woodshedding. Thanks for dreaming. Thanks for being different from all the other TH-cam channels. Thanks for having to integrity to do it your unique way and not be trendy. Thanks for having the guts to ask the many people who love you for help when your mother was in trouble. Thanks for the subtle humor. 2.895
Regardless of the music genre, the technical prowess and bass play are captivating, ensuring a consistently enjoyable musical experience where Julia's talent inevitably transports us to moments of pure auditory delight.
Congratulations on your 10th bass anniversary!!🥳👏🎉 I have played bass for 6 years, and your videos have always motivated me to practice bass. Huge thanks and respect from 🇯🇵 いつもありがとう🤗
Wow! That is fantastic playing. I bought my first bass two years ago but don't think I will ever manage to get even close to playing it as well as you do. You're playing is always so inspiring. Thank you for sharing ❤
Long live the Queen! Happy Bassiversary beautiful young legend. There are many thousands of people around the world who are thankful you chose bass as a way to express that magical artistry inside of you. Merry Christmas too:)
As always, you did an amazing job, Julia! I'm so happy that today is your 10th bass birthday! Congratulations on everything you've done from the moment you played the first note on the instrument until now. I've been following you since 2020, and every time I hear you playing I feel more and more inspired to play. The love and affection I have for your musicality is unlimited, I would like you to know that. Thank you so much for the music that you share with us, and happy holidays! Cheers! from São Paulo, Brazil!
Shorts just shine. So many people think they need to ride the big dragon, but the small nimble one has much fire in the belly. Just ask Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney, or hundreds of people who made rock awesome in the 60s, 70s, 80s.
You always look like you are having the most fun you've ever had. You fookin' rock. Also, I've never heard this song before, and you are right about it being the perfect song for the moment. The bass line is all over the place, and you nailed it. Happy 10th Bass-iversary and all the Holidays.
Legit found you due to algorithm shenaenaes, but this has be a huge boon for my musical outlook in my 30's. I was 11 when I started playing bass and have been influenced by so many players but I can definitely say you're a gem in the backbone of the musical world. What can't you play? I legit watched an hour of your vids just to ride that high. Wow, simply wow.
0:25 What's so funny so early into the song? Oh I see, EVERYTHING! 😄 This song sounds like a forgotten track for a Smashing Pumpkins album and I thought I had never heard of Bea, but after checking I remembered her "Coffee" song which got a lot of airplay here. So thanks for reminding! And of course, happy 10th anniversary! Watching you play with the pick is sooo unusual, it's looking so raw compared with your delicate finger technique. But the sound you create is just...🫠
I can’t stop watching you play this! Such a great bass line which you accentuate beautifully and thanks for introducing me to an artist I’d not listened to before ❤
Another fantastic cover! Thanks for doing one with the strumming, such a great style and song. Bass has been my instrument for 30 years since I was 15. No regrets. It's so fun, and thanks Julia for making that so clear in your covers. Bass rocks! Literally!
Wow! We're a huge fan and love your taste in bops. We don't say much, but always listen and love. We're so impressed with your precision and complexity on this jam! We never heard this before. The bass is certainly star on this jam. You're exceptional and thank you for all the jams you drop ❤
great to see Julia back again after her big recital and playing an awesome cover of a Bea song I love. Keep on keepin' on you wonderful bass playin' person.
Is it already 10 yrs? 😊 Congratulations....look at where you are now! Couldn't help listening to Hysteria as you played that after only 2 yrs and Bo Mi after 3 yrs. Quite unbelievable then and your play has improved so much over the years. Wish you all the best and a very happy Christmas.
This was one of the first full songs I learned on my bass! Never would have expected seeing you cover it, and of course your additions are lovely and add a bit of groove that isn't in the original. It's so cool to hear you vibing with a genre I'm not used to you playing, it has a lot of emotion. 😊
absolutley beautiful! I'd never heard this song before - but it's so nice to hear the bass driving the song and not being crowded with other intruments. My Music man is eyeing me off silently wishing it could be played this well.
You know it's gonna be a good day when she gives us an upload... especially because we know she does in fact, play that bass. Beautifully played as always!
I was thinking, I don't remember the bass being this amazing on the original. Having re-listened to the original, it isn't. This is on another level altogether.
I love this amazingly talented young woman and I love bass covers. Everything sounds better with the bottom of the groove out front all loud and proud.
Like everything you've posted, your groove, feel, and technique are always inspiring. Pick or no pick, you know what's up:) Wishing you and yours a very happy new year!
Watching bass covers makes you realize how many songs don’t have the bass line turned nearly high enough.
SO many bangers could really do with the bass being more prominent, especially in rock music. sometimes i discover amazing basslines from songs ive liked for years just from stumbling on someone covering it on youtube.
People ask me which genre do i listen, i tell them bass ;D
Really enjoyed this video, a great tune with a brilliant base line, beautifully played ❤
It's so hard to go back to the original version after Julia covers it. E.g. Chivalry Isn't Dead has such a big bass void compared to her cover
That's because basslines usually are "heavy" frequencies that take up a lot of space. She Plays 'She Plays Bass' on Bass and it is amazing! ❤️🔥
She is playing in Eb and kicking butt -
Julia had me hooked from
the getgo on this one - for an
ecstatic ride right up to the end.

Yep! . . .
She does, that!

Focus on the basics. This video is the end result (10 years of consistency)
Cool, it’s not gonna be easy. If you can sit down an practice even when it sucks, your’e half way there. After that, you are gonna be rewarded.

Yet another song I'm gonna regret listening to the original record just because it won't have Julia's groovy bass in it.
This is a perfect demonstration of how good a bass line can be with a pick. Technically brilliant at finger, slap and pick 🙌
It’s all about the tone. People who say picks such either don’t play or are some kind of stupid elitists.
Glad to have seen you progress the last few years.

She, indeed, plays bass. And I love it.

This could be your channel's theme song.
Wow! That is fantastic playing. I bought my first bass two years ago but don't think I will ever manage to get even close to playing it as well as you do. You're playing is always so inspiring. Thank you for sharing ❤
She does play indeed and by doing so she improves both the song and the day of anyone who listens! Happy hollidays Julia and everyone!

These short scale StingRays really shine under a picking technique and with effects.

You play with such ease, grace, and with a lot of soul! Is there anything that you cannot play! LOL! Amazing!
