I love Bea and she’s one of my favourite artists like ever but has anyone noticed how often she sings about being in pain/her head hurting? Here are some examples: She Plays Bass: “It hurts my brain” Emo Song: “It hurts my head” Sorry: “And it hurts me” Together: “It hurts my head again” I’m obviously not saying she has a migraine problem or anything lol but I think it’s a funny pattern in her lyrics :-)
The first time I heard this song I wondered why she opted to not have a bass solo but then after a couple listens I realized that the guitar solo with bass backing blends into the story by showing how she’s telling the story from her own narrowed perspective and the bass, which is powerful and very present, shows that there’s another side to the story. While the lyrics are simple it seems like it just further follows this idea that what she’s saying is just part of the story, but if you follow the bass lines you get an outward perspective on the bassist, similarly to how the listener sees the guitar solo
I think this could also tie in with the interpretation that it's not really just about the bass, it's that SHE plays bass. The bass is just the cherry on top of everythin else perfect about her... that's what I always thought anyways A bass solo would sound hella smooth though

The first time I heard this song I wondered why she opted to not have a bass solo but then after a couple listens I realized that the guitar solo with bass backing blends into the story by showing how she’s telling the story from her own narrowed perspective and the bass, which is powerful and very present, shows that there’s another side to the story. While the lyrics are simple it seems like it just further follows this idea that what she’s saying is just part of the story, but if you follow the bass lines you get an outward perspective on the bassist, similarly to how the listener sees the guitar solo
I think this could also tie in with the interpretation that it's not really just about the bass, it's that SHE plays bass. The bass is just the cherry on top of everythin else perfect about her... that's what I always thought anyways
