Many years ago (50+) I had an old Sears Gamefisher 2 cycle air cooled outboard motor. It would wither start on the first pull or about the 47th pull. Never did get it figured out. Most 2 strokes are a PIA but are a necessary evil for angular and inverted positions. Another nice video - keep them coming.
Hey bro what's up? I appreciate these videos you upload here to teach us how to fix our equipment. By the way, I got through repairing my leaf blower and it's working like new again bro.
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I can't believe you don't have more subs. Your videos are extremely informative and they have helpede countless times with fixing my small engines
What a coincidence your doing a video on this particular blower, I work at Home Depot and we just put these flowers on clearance for $75 so I couldn't pass it up. I figured I'd get this to blower off my tractor and push mower instead of using my BP blower, way more compact and easier to maneuver. It's definitely not the most powerful blower and no where near as my BP blower but I'm sure it will work ok. I have used it to blower snow this year and surprisingly it did very well!! The only gripe I have is the carb, it only has one adjustment and no throttle. My question is, can a different carb be fitted with adjustments and throttle? If yes I have an idea to retro and attach a throttle to the handle. Sorry for the long comment
yes you can change the carb to one with a working throttle. If it was me, I'd just use a bicycle brake for the throttle but I'd like to hear how you'd do it!
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE here's my idea, Im going to use an old throttle cable from an old mower. You know the kind that went on the bars and you would slide it up for fast and down for slow? It wouldn't be a throttle per say more like a slide throttle. I mean I guess you adjust the speed by just sliding it a little at a time. My only concern is shutting it off. The carb on it now has the shutoff built in by moving it all the way to the left. I might also have to use a thicker cable also because I don't think a thin one will work properly it might kink be cause of it being to thin? Any ideas? I do like the bike brake idea just don't know how to attach it?
I like your idea, but getting space for it, might be interesting. As for my idea, it may not work like I think it will because the brake levers, clamp to the handle bars. The problem is the bars are only an inch in diameter. I was hoping to find a way to clamp it to the underside of the blower handle with a worm gear clamp but I'm not sure if it'll work. It's an idea though.
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE very good idea!!! I like it. I'm definitely going to ponder on that for a bit. Your right about my idea, I hadn't really thought about how to secure it.
Yes, on a Stihl hedge trimmer which I rebuilt the carburettor which I ordered for it was crap & caused the engine to bog down, flood & have trouble starting after using it for a while, replacing the carburettor with as $30 AUD carburettor was the fix & I don't know where the other eBay seller was getting their carburettors from. When I replaced the engine on my dads Honda GX35 powered Brush cutter it would flood & not start although it would fire over it wouldn't keep running, if I adjusted the low speed mixture adjustment screw which is all that Walbro WYL type of carburettor has then it would run o.k. until a full throttle run then it would falter then stall then it wouldn't run until I adjusted the low speed mixture adjustment screw then it would run, it would start o.k. when the engine was warm but on a cold start it would start then stall. Since the high speed mixture adjustment cannot be changed on even an aftermarket WYL (4 stroke) carburettor I had to reuse the original carburettor which fixed the problem !
I literally picked up this exact blower free two days ago, also missing the air filter cover. I had never seen this model until 2 days ago. Mine also started up with a little effort but will probably need a little work.
Ahh classic Ryobi/Homelite, thinking a piece of mesh with bigger holes than a spark screen thinking it will filter as good as a foam filter, someone was throwing away a Ryobi trimmer so i picked it up, had really low compression and the piston had no scoring, turns out that non existent filter wore the ring out. And good choice for putting the foam in, always thinking smarter than a billion dollar company
I got a HyperTough blower for free. It has the same exact carb and engine as that one. It runs fine but it vibrates so badly that I don’t use it. They don’t come with an air filter at all which pretty much sums up the lack of quality.
How do you order universal tank grommets? My mom has a Husqvarna BT130 blower with bad fuel lines. The return line has hardened, and occasionally pops out of the grommet. The OEM lines and grommet come as a single piece that has been discontinued. I've tried a few aftermarket grommets that said they were for a BT130, but none of them fit. Her machine leaks gas on her when she uses it, and she is almost 70. I would rather not have it leaking gas on her. She loves that blower, and I would really like to get it to 100% for her.
you're not going to agree with my answer but it's trial and error. I look for the ads that have dimension on their grommets. I buy them, find out that they're too loose or too tight, and then order another set that's either bigger or smaller. Yes you do end up with un-used grommets, but I figure I'll use them someday.
Would you mind sharing if youve found a good source for parts diagrams? Most of the on line places i see get very blurry if you try to enlarge them to see the smaller parts or more detail. Thanks for your vids!
sure thing, I mostly use Ereplacementparts dot com but I also find all the other sites that come up when doing an online search to be good to. Are you looking for parts for a very old machine? If so that might explain why the diagrams look that way
I hate to admit this but I wanted to see if it got any worse, but it didn't and stopped on its own. I was assuming it was one of the 2 gaskets just settling back in after being disturbed. If it continued I would have have taken it back off and opened I back up to see if debris was on the gaskets
Make Homelite great again. TTI made Milwaukee tools great, but they made Homelite junk. Those don’t even have an air filter I only have Homelites with capital letters. Long live the Super XL !!
I had 2 like that. Once the warranty ran out they wouldn't start. Had plenty of compression and good spark and fuel but just couldn't get them running no matter what i did

ah nice! Glad to hear it.
Thank you for the good tutorials. I always learn something new from you every time.
No problem, I try to make them easy to follow.
Another great video. Good production, good edits, helpful information for troubleshooting, and overall helpful.
Thank you, I appreciate you checking it out.

nice find, they aren't a terrible blower, just okay in my eyes.

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE thanks. Just in the past I've sometimes had difficulty with some of the diagrams. Can't remember which engines 😁😁
What did you end up doing about the carb leak you showed before adjusting it?

Too bad Homelite seems to have joined the race to the bottom. Used to make some good products, especially chain saws.
I know right
First
thanks
Best way to fix that is a DeWalt 60v blower. Gas sucks and is not nearly as powerful.
LOL!!!! Run time, charge time, overall lifetime, all work against batteries.

Yah if it flooding . The diaphragm is pumping too much fuel. It needs to be changed or new carb. I had fixed a Husqvarna 26b that was like that
interesting idea, I'll have to look into it.
knock on wood..... no.
First comment😂
