Could you maybe do a video that explores what may have happened if Harry hadn’t been ‘cleared of all charges’ in Order of the Phoenix? Like, would he have gone to Azkaban? What is the Ministries way of dealing with it, apart from expulsion? Would Harry had gone back to the Dursley’s? Would Dumbledore still have taught him magic and about Tom Riddle? I think what drove Voldemort to his evilness was how he chose to deal with his traumatic upbringing. Everyone handles trauma differently. In his mind, he hated his filthy muggle father so that possibly drove him to uplift pure bloods only and to purify the Wizarding race so now future magical children don't have experience what he went through. And then he saw his mother dying as a weakness. He may have thought death robbed me of having my pure blood mother in my life. So he laser focused in on horcroxes and beating death. Voldemort means flight from death. He could've chosen to rise above his situation in a more positive way but he didn't. That's my take. Great content as always Dean!

Video idea: why didn't Tom Riddle obbliviate Slughorn's memory of him asking about the Horcrux spell? And after he found out Harry knew about the Horcruxes, why didn't he go back and kill Slughorn? He was,in his opinion, the only one who knew he asked about them.

    • @fate-vs-destiny8239
      @fate-vs-destiny8239 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’m not sure, I’m just thinking here.
If he wanted to kill Slughorn in book 6, he would probably have to get within Hogwarts’ grounds and I don’t think Voldemort would want to do so. At the point, Draco/Snape were set to kill Dumbledore, and Voldemort being on Hogwarts’ grounds could screw that up. That being said, he most likely would not have wanted to get on the grounds while Dumbledore was alive. I could be wrong here, but I think Dumbledore was the one person Voldemort feared (or at least felt a bit intimidating by).
Also, Voldemort probably felt like he needed the elder wand if he were to stand a chance against Dumbledore.
As for why Voldemort didn’t kill Slughorn after asking about horocruxes, I think it’s because he may have been at a point where he didn’t kill people just because of different views yet. He killed his father and grandparents to create the first horcrux (the ring), but he wasn’t “full-fledged Voldemort” just yet.
I don’t know when Voldemort finds out that others know about the horcruxes, but Dumbledore and Harry only get the fake locket towards the end of book 6. Prior to that, the diary and ring had been destroyed. I don’t think Voldemort finds out until a bit later. Voldemort’s goal in book 5 was to get the prophecy, and his goal in book 6 was to have Dumbledore killed. By book 7, I think Voldemort’s would have moved the horcruxes if needed, but by the time he found out, it was too late. Thus, killing Slughorn at that time would have been pointless. Even if Slughorn is dead, others would still know. For the most part of book 7, Voldemort’s goal is to find Harry and kill him because he and his friends are now an even bigger threat (now that they are also hunting down the horcruxes).

    • @SimonaShine

@@SimonaShine he had no opportunity to do so. He didn't find out Harry was hunting horcruxes or even knew about them until just before the battle of Hogwarts. That's why they went to Hogwarts that night, because he finally realized Harry was looking for the diadem. I'm sure if Slughorn had crossed his path during the battle though he would have killed him.

I’ve never thought about this but every single wizard that is exceptionally powerful is literally a mud blood wizard. Harry, Tom, albus, harmione? Everyone with muggle blood is stronger. It makes magical traits more rare and more powerful. I bet that infuriated pure blood families because they wouldn’t hold power or ability for every family member.

  • @DamonNomad82
    @DamonNomad82 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I respectfully disagree on predestination in the Wizarding World. As Dumbledore asked Harry in Half-Blood Prince: "Do you really think all those prophecies in the Hall of Prophecy ever actually came to pass?" The prophecy that triggered Voldemort's attack on the Potters and culminated in his downfall had meaning and significance only because Voldemort chose to believe it (or at least the part he heard about) and act on it. I think that in-universe, it is individuals acting on their own wills that ultimately shape the magical world around them. Either that, or the thoughts and whims of one J.K. Rowling...

There’s something I’ve been wondering about for a long time and I think it would make for a great video.
You’ve already covered that voldemort never really searched for the deathly hallows because he never needed them. However, if death is what he fears most, wouldn’t becoming the master of death be he his ultimate goal?

    • @witdajuice6763

    • @headstrongbachelor3152

When I looked at the overall story, Voldemort is yet another example that absolute power corrupts absolutely. While we look at Harry as the hero, in the grand scheme of things, Voldemort was his own worst enemy and did himself in (literally and figuratively). The initial prophesy mentioned the boy born at the end of July, but that wasn't just Harry, it was Neville too. And had he chose Neville, his parents were in the hospital, and while his Gran couldn't/would have accomplished what Lilly did. Had he gone after him instead, Voldemort would have wound up ruling over everyone. Also, if he hadn't have been so hell-bent creating the horcruxes, and most importantly, making as many of them as he did, he probably would have not only survived it, but deflected it and survived. Instead, he was only a fraction of a man, literally. He'd cast off 7 other parts of his soul, and what was left to him was 1/8th of which he started out as. So when the curse rebounded, because Lily deflected it with her sacrifice, his soul fractured into even smaller pieces - the one that went into Harry, and the wisp he had left causing him to drink unicorn blood to continue to exist. In all actuallity, he probably should have been the one chasing after the horcruxes, to bring at least some them back to reincorporate back into himself. Oh well, you live (or in this case, die) by the choices you make. He killed the unintended horcrux, but it didn't weaken Harry, it just left him weaker and more vulnerable.
Damn, I was going to go to bed soon, guess I'll go turn on the Philosopher's Stone instead....

Tom Riddle is analogous with another movie character - Anakin Skywalker.
Riddle was orphaned, Skywalker was removed from his mother by a master Jedi, at the same time a master wizard took Riddle to a place of training in his skill.
Both Tom Riddle and Anakin Skywalker had a mentor who looked after him, but they had a falling out, both changed their names - Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort.
Both were defeated by younger versions of themselves - Harry Potter who, although not orphaned lived with his aunt and uncle. And Luke Skywalker who was also orphaned and also lived with his aunt and uncle.
The StarWars Force and Harry Potter Magical ability have a lot of similarities because not everybody has the ability

i personally believed he was abused in the orphanage and that's why he turned out so so evil. If you look back at the time period, he grew up around the great depression and WWII. In a place devoid of love where death was frequent (starvation because lets be real many of those orphans probably starved to death during the great depression) and with bombs raining down around him after he would come back from hogwarts, its understandable why he hated muggles.
In an interview (the transcript from it) JKR said that if he was raised and loved by his mother everything would have been different and he would have turned out differently. The monster was created and nurtured in the orphanage so whatever went down there, had to be extremely horrific and mentally scarring (possibly physically as well).

Didn't really understand what his secret power was?
As you previously explained, I don't believe it's an actual power, or that he's that much more powerful. Rather it's his lack of love that drove and fueled him. Like a blind person who's other senses are more dormant. (Which might make him more powerful than/have an edge over Grindelwald)
But I see what you meant when saying things are preeminent, like the matrix. The magic world was preprogrammed to have a Voldemort and harry was his glitch.

I just had a thought... If he wanted to be so powerful, wouldn't he persued the dark arts further, wouldn't he have tried to conquer demonology???? To me, that would be the ultimate power. Of course, we all know that JK didn't write that in. But it's something to think about!

Predestination aside, there are debates in the philosophical and psychological communities that perhaps free will is an illusion. We make choices based on the information available, the desires, needs and compulsions present at the time we make said decisions. As such, in those moments, under those circumstances, (the argument goes,) we couldn’t possibly choose differently. To do so would require different circumstances and/or information to act upon. Under this hypothesis, Riddle’s life path couldn’t have been anything other than it was.

Grindelwald was stronger than Voldemort, Voldy was just stronger in dark magic specifically. An argument can be made for either of them being the strongest dark wizard of all time, because Gindelwald was a dark wizard and one of the strongest wizards of all time, Voldemort was the strongest in the field of dark magic but ignored the strongest magic (love).

Can someone explain this to me?
We all know that the prophecy about Harry and Voldemort is
" Neither can live while the other survives" however it confuses me that by the end of Goblet of Fire and all through Order of the Phoenix Voldemort is back fully in his body and yet Harry is still alive and well.
In Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets it makes more sense because Voldemort just has a half sort of life but from Goblet of Fire onwards it doesn't make sense to me
both of them are "surviving" at the exact same time I don't get it

    • @harrietlang195

Serious question, how come there hasn't been a book about Voldemort's back story, in thorough detail? & just go through his childhood, school, his 1st rise to power, & then when we get to that night at Godric's Hollow, Voldemort walks up the path towards the walkway that leads to the front door, & he passes the mailbox, brushing his fingers acrossed the name plate that says "Potter" like he was slashing out his next victim, then the screen cuts to black with just the word "Riddle".
I know the books gave some back story, but damn-it, dont you want the whole thing. Lol. I wanna know what made him become who he was. I could see even 2-3 books about this. Hell what do I know though.
