I love my 2008 Spec B, 6 speed, R180 diff, aluminum control arms front and rear, OEM Bilstien struts, navigation, doesn't get better. An executive STI.
The rims make it look more like a family car. If you changed the rims it would be much better looking. On another note, Great job David. Another well done review!
+bailey green Hey, I own the car. If you want to see some pictures with the summer set on, scroll through this thread. legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/offical-low-legacy-thread-150396p674.html
+dead prez It does make sense. I didn't feel like swapping sets in the morning so I didn't. The weather still isn't nice enough to put the Summer set on and I'm definitely not going to put them on for just a couple days. By the way, summer tires are actually better in rain and I'm not going to buy an entire car just so I can keep a set of wheels on my car.
+ThatDudeinBlue I know your swampped but how bout a video eventually on how to stick my first car is an automatic I drove stick before but dont remember
Love them, all the fun of a wrx with more room, also kept my brother safe when he flipped it on a back road. He only had a scratch above his eye. I was gonna get one but it sold before I could get to it. I got a Fiesta St instead.
I own an automatic one, straight stock. Couldn’t be happier with it so far and still gets a good sound when you floor it. Intend on modifications in layer years but i would recommend it for first car subie lovers
you're buddy was smart with this buy. after looking into it you can find 09s of this car with "low" milage for MUCH cheaper than OLDER wrx/sti with MORE miles
Legacy has my vote nice video, your opening sequences look awesome. I'm glad Subaru have gone back to the saloon shape with the new WRX, still looks a bit weird but hopefully a few face changes will sort that. Shame about the Evo though come on Mitsubishi sort it out!
These are soooo clean. Kinda feels like a wrx fell in love with an is300 and had a kid. I love finding out about these hidden gem "poormans" version of legendary cars I never knew about. For example, the skyline gtst
My dad owned an 05 Legacy GT, they are defiantly awesome. It's just as fast the WRX same motor, more room, and I like the looks better. I'm 17 and hopefully by the end of the summer if hardworking pays off I'll have one :D
i own an 08 2.5i non-turbo sedan. even that is an absolute blast in my NY winters. Slide that thing around like a rally car all day with one hand. they're that good...
LOVE LOVE LOVE my lightly modded 2006 GT LTD with NAV. Bought it in 5/06 with 19 miles on it. As for brakes I upgraded to Dot 4 fluid, steel braided lines and Porterfield RS4 pads and Cusco Master Brake Cylinder bracket. Big Difference. These are getting RARE!!!!!!
Thanks for another great video David! You hit pretty much every point for why you should get a Legacy GT over a WRX. I have a 2006 Spec B. (the 2006 came with a 5 speed) and absolutely love my car! Maybe when I get some more stuff done to it, I'll get you to review it! Thanks for being awesome and keep up the good work!
I searched used Subaru legacy's in my area and I got over 100 results, but as soon as I put in manual transmission only it got 2 results. and they were both an ugly brown color. so sad (cry cry)
My dad sold his for $200 with a blown turbo and head gasket with 250,000 in 2013 it was manual and the guys swapped it with a totaled WRX and sold it for 5,000 just because the manual
There was a 07 Legacy GT in my area with 70k miles on it, fully decked out with all of the options and standard for like $7k. WRX's with twice the miles are still priced higher lmao. For sure underrated. These cars are nice.
+Tyler Dowd Budget is used loosely but I saved a good deal with used components. It definitely isn't as expensive as some people make it out to be if you're smart about what you buy.
+Gerardo Espinoza I built a GC8 98 WRX for a friend and he used 100% used parts. Engine was an EJ20K. We used the stock vf22 for the turbo, made a custom front mount setup with an evo 6 fmic. He spent most of the money on a new head. Ended up using EJ20G block with a built 20k head he got for $300 from a part out. Reliability issues out the ying yang though, lots of electrical and a few fuel delivery issues. Total cash spent not including the car was 2700 for 390 awhp.
I've been waiting for this video!!! Thank you so much! I have a 2007 Subaru Legacy. I haven't found any actual good videos on this type. Thank you so much!
I love how subtle these cars are. The wagon is even cooler imho. If i had one and did the front intercooler mod, i would consider losing the hood scoop just to make it even stealthier
Looks like a really clean build! Kudos to the owner! Speaking of which any 90's kids remember Kudos the candy granola bar, what happened to those? Im hungry....
I really like what a Cobb Stage 1 tune and a set of Bilstein B6's all around with fresh Subie springs has done for my 2005 LGT wagon. I have never driven a WRX, but I can really throw this wagon around to my satisfaction. On a 0 degree F morning, be real careful, both hands tight on the wheel in second gear. The turbo loves that cold air. Wish it had six speeds. The Limited cloth interior is elegant and durable, a few Momo and STi trinkets make it a bit more special, especially the STi grill. Debadging makes it look a lot cleaner in the back. Hard to think of a reason to change to something else, except for the lack of room for my size 13's under the dash.
Known turbo problems on the '05-'08 Legacy GT. I have an '05 Legacy GT wagon that I have owned since brand new and it has 107,000 miles....but my fingers are still crossed as far as the turbo is concerned. Very good looking and handling car and mine is bone stock.
Omg I love the legacy 2.5!!!! Does anyone know how much these will be in 5 years with about 100,000 miles on? And dang that thing looks mean af with it lowered and the body kits!
If your still in the market fpr one. We had a 2006 Legacy Gt Spec B #487 .. we had it for sale at the dealership and it sold 2 days later after we got it. It sold for $8000 at 100,800 miles
I'm about to take my training classes for driving this summer and I'm so pumped to get behind the wheel! I've been practicing a little on streets where there are never cops . The car I will be driving is a 2002 mustang v6 manual with some transmission upgrades ! Hopefully everything goes good !
+elliot438bcfc Well mostly at least. People get pretty worked up over this but it's much easier to say "straight pipe" vs. "catted downpipe without mufflers and resonators". I'm probably going to end up gutting the cat to make it a little louder, it's on its way out anyway.
I know this an old video but I loved my 2008 Subaru Leg GT. Was station in Colorado and it was a blast to drive out there. Intake/exhaust/rims/tires was all it really needed to make it super fun to drive. Traded in in around 2015 for a truck and still got 8k for it with 150k miles. I bought her at 5 miles and she drove hard the whole times and she loved it. I wish they would bring it back but after 08 and the spec b it’s looked like a corolla.
Nikomak99 If I were to be totally honest, a used subaru is most likely going to be expensive. They hold their value extremely well, perhaps less with the 2.5s though. I love the hawkeye version, but you probably aren't going to find one under $10k.
I saw this and was constantly thinking "Please be a wagon, please be a wagon". Still a very nice video as always, David. The channel needs more wagon love :D
hey mayte great vid, your a great guy i can see. i liked how you didnt turn it into a comedy show and actually shared quality details about the vehicle -
+ZackP27 Subaru is based in Tokyo. Even though it's built here, a lot of the profits go back overseas. We just keep a small percentage from labor, taxes, selling the car etc.
Yeah, shouldn't have an American sticker. False advertising. It's like trying to pretend Jaguar are still a British car. They're an Indian car, that pretends it's British for marketing purposes. It used to be British, but not anymore.
Ive got a JDM Legacy GT spec B estate, with the twinscroll making 320bhp, its pulls great. the mushy brakes are mostly due to the rubber brake hoses going bad, i had the same issue with mine.

That gen WAS an Impeza. Literally, the Legacy chassis was a slightly stretched version. They were very short on interior space when compared to other midsize sedans. That's why their sales were not great until the new Legacy in 2010 when it used the larger Tribeca chassis.

before even watching the video, I love this car and I have always wanted one. and good news they are finally starting to come down to my price bracket.
Thank you sir! Finally a video showing what's up with the 4th gen LGTs. Miss mine every day. One of the best looking sports sedan IMO. Very below the radar. Find one with a built motor next time 🐸

my brother was planning to get this car because his 2001 legacy wagon is dying. He mod it and it was a great fun wagon, but it was $26k with 30kish miles!! I told him might as well get the new WRX
the shifting issue where it hops a little is the same as my 96 Impreza. if you don't slow down your shift a little and rev match it'll do that, and yes that means rev matching while shifting up as well as down
Funny thing is these cars cost $4000 to ship from Japan. So at auction they go for less then $1000. These are the Pontiac Sunfires of Japan. Oh and they came out as old as 2001 in Japan FYI.
If you think the 4th gens are fun, you need to drive a 5th gen gt. One of our members has one, and it's a totally different animal. They make stupid torque. His stage 1 protune put him at 344 ft-lbs just to give you an idea. He's going full stage 2 now and will most likely be over 400 its insane. If you ever get a chance to drive one don't pass it up its such a fun car to drive.
Dude....take the video down....this car is one of the best kept secrets in the Subaru community LOL
Dylan Buell my 2000 lgt still runs perfectly, maybe you or a previous owner didnt take care of it
assassin72 lol I can tell you this but it's true😂😂
I was thinking the same thing!
Dylan Buell my 200k mile lgt has been extremely reliable for me for over a year now.
I'm curious how a car with a higher sticker price than a WRX, more luxury features and refined than the WRX is a "budget" WRX...

the shifting issue where it hops a little is the same as my 96 Impreza. if you don't slow down your shift a little and rev match it'll do that, and yes that means rev matching while shifting up as well as down
My first Subaru was an '05 LGT, it was a great car. I don't know about anyone else but I think it drives like an STi without all extra boost.
Another amazing review David, keep up the good work :)
I've been waiting for this all my life! Thank you! I own one!
FINALY A FREAKING LEGACY my god where was this vid all my life
