I would suggest to use an e-wallet rather than cash because almost all places in jakarta is accepting a cashless payment(even on the side of the road) and there is a lot of cashbacks and promos to save your money!
I recommend coming to Sukabumi, it is close to Jakarta, 200 km / 4 hours. Sukabumi has beautiful nature (there is a geopark). searching in youtube about Sukabumi.
1. Took grab/gojek to go around. 2. I rarely bring cash, e-wallet all the time. 3. Manage a clear and strict itinerary , and check the operating hours for some places. Some of them require booking or online registration before hand. 4. Visit places and eat at places which are highly recommended by locals.
OMG this is the video that I wish I saw BEFORE I ended up in Jakarta hahahah.....trial and error.....but now the queen is here to share the good news and yeahh these are GREAT TIPS!!!! GO JANET!
Good on you Janet 👍👏 I'm Jakarta kid before coming to Melbourne 1977 and move to Perth 1999 till now 2021 Very nice of you give the tips 🙏👍 It's certainly helpful for me too Many thanks 🙏🙏🙏 Makasih ya 😊🙏 Salam Sejahtera dari Perth Australia
The best district is south jakarta.. The food is cheaper, The air is good less pollution, Lots of greenery, The mall is more huge and more best item sell in south jakarta's mall, Lots of Fancy Restaurant and hang out area. Before Covid South is the best night life and the best place for night club, Top notch.. And lots of expat live there so you can mingle with other expat as well.
Jakarta is a great city to visit as 2/3 day stopovers to get to other parts of Indonesia. I was lucky enough to have visited there 3 times with the 3rd time was pretty recent
yeah central or maybe i would highly suggest you to stay in south jakarta because that is the most advanced area in jakarta. the sidewalks and transportation is more developed.🤘🏼
First time commenter here. If you want to visit Jakarta as a tourist then yes, Jakarta Tengah is the place to be. But if you want to graduate from the tourist level and try to live as a local, then I encourage you to stay in Jakarta Selatan (South Jakarta).
Great little vid thanks, my wife and I will be in Jakarta/Bekasi for 13days before Christmas then 8 days in Nusa Dua for Chrimbo and NYE then 7 days in Bandung and we owe you and Alex White for helping us put our travel plans together, look forward to more vids XD
West Jakarta you were stay (Taman Anggrek) not so far from everywhere. Because this area just borderline West - Central. Actually thats the strategic place, you can find Transjakarta Halte just across the bridge from Central Park near Taman Anggrek :)))
Yes agree...It is only 5-7km away to central Jakarta as Taman Anggrek isnt located at the edge west of Jakarta...but for people who dont live in huge city may consider it is far enough for them to travel
This is very important info for abroad before going to indonesia, especially jakarta ❤️❤️ Love it Thank's a lot miss janet 😊 nice vlog and nice statement 😊 success always for u ❤️
I feel like $20 isn't super expensive for a meal but I'm from the US and that's about the cost of a basic meal at a sit-down place. But yeah! Super useful video. Thanks, sis.
# Tip no 1. When you just arrived at the airport, let's doing first is unlock your mobile phone and buy the local number at the telkomsel store in the airport. # Tip no 2. Take the airport train to go to the down town of jakarta. It's traffic jam free and the fare is very affordable comparing to the taxi.
For international tourist, just hop on the airport train which will take you directly into the heart of central jakarta. There, hotels are easy to be found. Simple🌞 yes pls do visit indonesia, after covid19 pandemic ended🙏🤭
thank you Janet for the tips, for me its very comprehensive, tips number 7 is very strong recommended and this not only apply in Jakarta but also across Indonesia, thanks for mentioned it.
One more important thing left I guess...how to get to airport for way much quicker than other transportation is by airport train/commuter line...you can catch it from BNI station near Sudirman KRL station but if im not mistaken it is using debit card only to buy the ticket.
Some day if you visit Bandung, i recomended go to "Saung Angklung Ujo". Angklung is traditional instrument from sundanese. Angklung made from bamboo and that sound very uniq. Beside angklung instrument you can learn see wayang golek. Wayang golek is traditional puppet from west java.
1 suggestion, choose a street food place that is crowded with buyers, that's a little guarantee that the food is delicious and always fresh. I applied it for a dozen years living in Jakarta
I'm just curious r u able to use e-wallet application in Indonesia. Such as; Ovo & Gopay? I think It's quite useful if u r traveling with Grab & Gojek coz u don't need to ask or find small change for the transport fares.
@@JanetNewenham I think u can use Wise Online Money Transfer/Transferwise; They're able to convert ur Euro to Rupiah & transfer to ur Gojek/OVO Account. The other alternative, u may visit Indomaret/Alfamart & ask the cashier to top up ur account. PS: U need to use ur indonesia SIM Card Number. I wish u all the best!
Janet!! What great feedbacks and tips for those who haven't visited Jakarta!! Being born and growing up there, it does make me miss being there!! Esp the amazing foods!! 👍😍 However, was wondering about the safety in Jakarta knowing how huge the city / the region is!! Did you feel SAFE the whole time being in Jakarta?? Even though people were super friendly to you and always try to help you out in anyway they could... As an ex- Jakartan, 😉🤗 it seems you didn't get a chance to experience long enough in South Jakarta (where I grew up). To the best of my knowledge, it is the greenest, easy to go around, tons of AMAZING street foods to try, and (maybe half?) a place of where expatriates live. Pondok Indah Mall is where I used to hang out. Oh Em Gee!! How much I miss Blok M shopping center too!! 😢 .... btw, ANOTHER great video, Janet!! Very useful to those who haven't visited Jakarta and surrounding areas! 👍👍.. Salam Kenal untuk kamu, dan Tetap Sehat, Janet!! 🙏😊
True...dont go out on the weekend ...or if you must...just get there the earliest and go back early too. Dont go out in the morning and afternoon rush hour...other than that It’s okay i think 🤔
As local people to avoid scams we also need to bargain when we hire rickshaw taxis as long as we know the distance & traffic where we are going to...nowadays going everywhere is easier by taking a ride with grab/gojek
Correction to your #2 tip: you cannot go to Bandung using Commuter Line train. The line only covering Jabodetabek are, that is abbreviation of JAkarta BOgor Depok Tangerang and Bekasi. To go to Bandung, you have to get train from Gambir station in central Jakarta.
It's great to see the video of your adventure in Indonesia, I hope when you return to banyuwangi please try ayam betutu mbak Timah, one of the spicy chicken berutu, I hope you like it, there are 2 kinds: fried and ungkep. Greetings from malang, Indonesia. thanks.
Hi Janet. I am a solo female American expat in Vietnam. I discovered you through your Taxco video. I really enjoy your content. I am reaching out to you because you seem in the know and you seem like someone who would be kind enough to share information. I am planning to come to Bali sometime in July or August. There's a bit of an exodus from Vietnam right now due to the change in Visa policies during the current lockdown...and I have to leave. Can you recommend a trustworthy visa agent and also an inexpensive hotel with a covid package? I would greatly appreciate it. Would love to meet up in Bali if you're around. Thanks.
For car transport ,I prefer the Argometer /Taximeter Taxies ,rather than by GoCar or Grab .....even more prefered than Bajay /tricycles ...... Fares are equivalent (not much difference)
Well, it’s just that all the malls, offices aren’t suitable for beach attire. For example if you go to the cinema to watch a movie, the studio can be really cold like 10C.
jakarta has LRT too but u didnt go to east jakarta KRL is actually the metrosystem like MRT , u can go to 478 km away to around jakarta and surrounding city so by KRL u will save alot of time, for example from east jakarta to the west or south jakarta to the north only takes 20 minutes contrary by car /road that can be two hours to go to Bandung and other cities, u can catch long distance train
Indonesian subtitles have just beed added!
