Your chose word “dirty” it’s kind offensive to me as a woman who is obviously will have period time once a month or sometimes even twice!! We aren’t dirty/impure when it comes to period time, it is natural causes. Entering mosque is not prohibited so long not drip/leak the period blood on the floor mosque. Oh well, just have to respect other beliefs then.
Women on their period are not ‘dirty’. Like with indigenous people, Hindus celebrate the period as a sacred separate ceremony itself - so entering the temple or sweat lodge would be experiencing two ceremonies at once, which therefore does not honour the original ceremony.
I have missed Bali so much. Normally we come at least once a year, but covid has stopped us. I love the people, the culture, the food and the beautiful beaches. Planning to come in August, with our 2 year old daughter. See you soon!

I am not Balinese, and I understand Balinese customs. You really respect Balinese culture, thank you, and spread the good news about Bali,,,,, greetings from Cianjur, West Java
Thank you for sharing things that are very important for tourists to Bali to know. I'm a Balinese living outside the island of Bali and I really admire what you have to say here. I hope you feel at home living on an island with thousands of temples. God bless you.
I love this video. Thank you It feels like a "How to respect Bali and Her people" and a "Here are a few customs that you may not have known about" video.
I've been many times to Bali. I love everything about Bali, it's even gone through my mind to stay there as the Balinese people are the nicest, kindest people anyone could ever meet. Love from Australia. Yes, I do ❤️ Bali.
about bargaining things, it depends on what u bargain. mostly in tourism spots or areas in Indonesia, the prices of some things are more than twice or even thrice than normal. so for instance if the stuff is priced 200k, you actually can bargain it to 50k and the vendor is still gets profit. but once against, depends on what stuff u gonna buy. stuffs like (most type) of batik are indeed expensive, so dont bargain too much, but t-shirts, keychains, fridge magnet or some sort, u can bargain it like half the price or even more sometimes.
@@gypsyinsneakers sure! Glad to help. I recommend you to ask your local friends (not guide, not just local residents. Someone u trust) before buying stuffs. Im sure they know your area better than me, because every area are differs. Hope you enjoy your stay!
If you start bargaining and the vendor agrees your offer, don't think you can walk away and think about it - you have done a deal and in many cases they will follow you to your hotel - if you employ a driver to take you around always agree a price with no stops...it will be more expensive but you won't be dragged around art shops etc.
i was in Bali 31 years ago, just for 1 week, it was part of a world trip. i only spent 2 months in indonesia. most of your 14 things are common sense. Still its nice to see the respect you have for Bali. All i remember was the beautiful balinese dances, the food, kuti beach, speaking the language, that was fun!!
For me it's common sense as well, but it seems to me like visiting Bali was not the first time travelling the world for you. We mustn't forget that a lot of people that go to Bali are still very young, and haven't seen much of the world yet. I think that's why a video like this is still needed for some...
Some awesome tips , be respectful to locals is the major I reckon. I'm in the process of moving there for good. Thankyou your insights they are very important.
Thank you for sharing travel tips to the new traveler, as a Balinese i do appreciated what you did, through this we could reducing miss understood and that is the way we learn the place we travel and also what we called cross culter understanding, you did a great job ! Bravo !

🙂💙💙hello i'm Scott from Australia in 2002 i went to bali for a holiday i LOVED it so much went there with my uncle and aunty we stayed at Legian we went there for 10 days had my 36th birthday there on Jimbaran bay beach at dinner during sunset on the beach was beautiful i also went shopping for myself at kuta markets bought 4 cotton ikat sarongs and 2 t shirts for me was nervous to barter for what i bought i still have the sarongs and T shirts i bought there to this day its always been a dream of mine to go there and i know everyone goes to bali but for me being disabled with spina bifida and i walk with canaidian crutches well i use them now but when i went there i used a wooden cane was not easy but managed anyway the only 1 down side to my holiday was we went 6 months after the sari club and paddys bar bombing one day we were on a tour bus going to a resturant for lunch further inland in bali well we drove past the boarded up site of the bombing site and it felt like we were in slow motion going past it well it did to me it gave me the chills at the thought of all the people that were killed and they were just spending the evening out enjoying themselves with their friends was heartbreaking at the sensless loss of human lives anyway apart from that 1 moment in time was wonderful to holiday in bali i'd love to go back there and see more of the island
Thank You for sharing our culture to other people, it’s very important that people out there know what you just explaining , I hope then all the tourist will understand and be more respectful to our culture and tradition in Bali 👍
You must visit Mount Bromo, Ijen Crater, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Lombok Island, Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat and many other beautiful places, because Indonesia is not only Bali, there are many other beautiful places. but thank you for educating and showing the beauty of Bali
I have returned a few days back from Bali after a six day trip. Balinese people are very nice and friendly. As tourists, we must reciprocate the courtesy they extend to us. Everything you have said is quite accurate.
YAS , we need more people like you who understands different cultures and respects the traditions and the locals....Too many awful tourists in Bali over the years...
big respect and thank you for your advice and I hope this applies to us as local tourists too. and for foreign tourists it would be wiser if you visit Bali not to get drunk and make trouble in public places.
1 more tips for me as Indonesian, our local foods is majority spicy. Ask or/and try a little bit of the food first. ☺ Anyway, tries other islands other than Bali, too. You guys will be surprised 😅 (Indonesia has many places and diverse cultures as well) 🥰 - love from Magelang, Central Java. (Where Borobudur Temple a.k.a the biggest Buddhist Temple in the world stand)
As a mexican who travelled there many locals warned me and seemed impressed by how well i handled it. I explained to them mu cultural dishes are also very spicy and we had a nice conversation about it 😊 locals are so nice and kind.
YES!!!! Bali is a beautiful country. Stayed in Denpasar for 29 days. Few years back in 2019. Went for my granddaughter's graduation, she studied medicine in Bali.... enjoyed my stay there. Visited many beautiful places. Especially temples and Holi places which are protected strictly, forbidden from touching the shrines. My stay there with my daughter in my granddaughter's single room house was in a village like place. People staying around were so kind n very friendly. Morning or evening, (when not going anywhere for sightseeing.) Will go for walking around to make friends, to my surprise, just a smile, they'll wish back politely n invited me in their house n served me with tea n cookies. Another house, It was Raya time, so enjoyed with Raya food. Mak cik packed food to take back. Even we pass by , they'll acknowledge, with so much respect n gorgeous smile. Wherever we travelled, grab drivers were so helpful and friendly. No heart to come back, thought of visiting Bali again. ( World wide lockdown put a full stop for travelling). So sad.🤔Now too old to travel.... travelling now, very expensive. Bali Indonesia is a beautiful country. Love Bali and her people for their hospitality and respect. I always respect individual's culture n their believes... religion is a most honoured n precious life... for every COUNTRIES.🙏 Anybody wants to visit countries. Bali, Bali, Bali Indonesia to start with. Love Bali so much.🌹❤️🌹 Everywhere marigold flowers are given importance. Lovely.🏵️🏵️🏵️
I am visiting SE Asia for the first time and I'm spending about 10 days in Bali. A friend lives in Ubud and part of the time she will be my guide. I've traveled to other countries that also are sensitive about being handed something with the left hand. A good heads-up for sure.
Hi, on behalf of Indonesians, I humbly thank you for sharing this to other tourists, these are very descriptive and spot on! how you could compile this list of big no nos I have no idea lol. You're a very attentive person :)
Dear lovely admin,, It's such a beautiful one, thank you for your knowledge and shared by fully wisdom ❤. But there's one important which is very important and probably common peoples will not understand easily. "don't enter to the temples during periods" . It's sounds like discrimination but truely it's not. Like I said above , it's understood by all of Hindu Priest and who exploring the principal of Bali Hinduism... Warm regards from southern part of Bali.. Wayan.
15. Please do wear proper attire when visiting temples, attending ngaben/palebon ceremonies or another sacred places. Enjoy your holiday, stay safe stay healthy.
Thank you for sharing these useful tips! As Indonesian i totally agree with you especially no.8 dont bargain too hard.. be considerate.. even us Indonesians, we often give bonus to our rental car drivers or gojek drivers more than what they expect to receive. It always good to spread charity and make the locals happy!
@karen Smith 10-50k rupiahs should be enough depending on how much you spend. Usually we give tips to taxi drivers, people at salons/spa, people who clean and guard private villas, people who help you to park your motorbikes/cars. You don’t have to tip in restaurants/cafes though because it’s already included in the bill, unless if there’s a tip box near the cashier then it’s good to tip
That is something I always do over there, is eat the local food, its cheap and very tasty, I also go for just under a month and still do not get to see all I want to.....Gilli Islands are also great places to go.
May I add one more thing that many foreigners are doing but shouldn't, and that is to not wear a shirt (men) or to wear a sleeveless top (men and women). I am half-indonesian and I know how offensive this is to the locals. Just one thing to think about: what would YOU think if some women tourist came to your country and walked around bare-breasted because that is just what is common in their country? I know in Bali there are so many tourists and the Balinese are very patient and tolerant people so they might even have gotten used to the way the tourists dress, and they are much too polite to say anything about it, but I still cannot get used to it and it upsets me every time I am in Indonesia. And I don't think anybody is dressing this way because they want to be disrespectful, they are probably just not aware of the effect this has on the local people and probably have never consciously looked around to see how Indonesians dress.
Hi, thank you for the good review that you gave to our country, especially about bargaining things... Many expatriates here especially from filipine and the other countries love to love to bargain in to the lowest price during the transaction.... Its so kind to find someone care like you... To open others people eyes and heart, its not only about grab the lowest price but its also about someone's income....
If you are in Bali and especially if you live in Bali, be grateful! You are in one of the most beautiful places in the world that SO MANY people dream to go to.
I'm indonesian and I am prepping my Aussie partner for our next trip to Bali. These are exactly the points I told him. Especially the left hand thing, as he's naturally a lefty i keep reminding him to hand me stuff with right hand, he was confused at first but then he understood. Also, other points I told him: 1. Balinese seem to have their own time, many places open at or after 10am (please correct me if I'm wrong) so going out super early morning would only allow us to see scenery. 2. Driving is frustrating in Bali because of the traffic, so it's better to take a paying scooter ride (like gojek) but he's totally against riding a scooter with a stranger hahaha so he'd rather deal with the teaffic in a taxi or walking around. 3. Most balinese food is quite spicy, so bring your trusty diarrhoea tablets (i must say this, sorry) 4. He bowed when the balinese bowed during their daily ritual (maybe some prayer) i told we don't have to bow with them, just be quiet and don't disturb their ritual. Overall, being respectful and try to aware of your surrounding and behave accordingly is the best advice you could give to tourists.
And the the note, Indonesia is not just about Bali, guys. There are still so many other places inside indonesia to come and to visit. Perhaps you can explore more places instead of just settling down for Bali and that's it.

Some temples prohibit it btw
I have missed Bali so much. Normally we come at least once a year, but covid has stopped us. I love the people, the culture, the food and the beautiful beaches. Planning to come in August, with our 2 year old daughter. See you soon!
Beautiful.....tidak hanya berkunjung tapi juga mempelajari/memahami budaya, tata krama yang ada di bali mungkin juga budaya INDONESIA yang terkenal ramahnya.... Good 👍👍
❤️❤️
Saya dari bali,, sangat mengapresiasi konten yg mengedukasi masyarakat untuk menghargai dan menghormati kita yg berbeda budaya,,
I am so happy to come across your vlog! Your reminders show how considerate and thoughtful you are as a person. Bali (and Indonesia in general) needs more visitors like you. May you always have wonderful times in Indonesia ❤️
Thank you so much
I love this video. Thank you
It feels like a "How to respect Bali and Her people" and a "Here are a few customs that you may not have known about" video.
Thank you so much, cool
I agree. Not so much what not to do because no one should be told how long to stay in a place or where to visit when they travel within their budget.
I've been many times to Bali. I love everything about Bali, it's even gone through my mind to stay there as the Balinese people are the nicest, kindest people anyone could ever meet. Love from Australia. Yes, I do ❤️ Bali.
Hi..
Thank you for being a respectful and responsible traveler
about bargaining things, it depends on what u bargain. mostly in tourism spots or areas in Indonesia, the prices of some things are more than twice or even thrice than normal. so for instance if the stuff is priced 200k, you actually can bargain it to 50k and the vendor is still gets profit. but once against, depends on what stuff u gonna buy. stuffs like (most type) of batik are indeed expensive, so dont bargain too much, but t-shirts, keychains, fridge magnet or some sort, u can bargain it like half the price or even more sometimes.
This is really good to know! Thanks so much
@@gypsyinsneakers sure! Glad to help. I recommend you to ask your local friends (not guide, not just local residents. Someone u trust) before buying stuffs. Im sure they know your area better than me, because every area are differs. Hope you enjoy your stay!
nah, some Tourist bargain for the sake of bargaining only. These business not making enough money nowadays. Please support them in this pandemic
Don’t go back ever , it’s not the same now you would be heartbroken.
Tips nya berlaku untuk turis lokal dan warga lokal jg ini.... Saling menjaga dan menghormati mau ras , suku , agama apa pun itu 👍
Some awesome tips , be respectful to locals is the major I reckon. I'm in the process of moving there for good. Thankyou your insights they are very important.
Thanks for sharing, I'm from Hong Kong and will go to Bali Ubud from 17Jan to 14Feb , exciting ...
Thank you for sharing travel tips to the new traveler, as a Balinese i do appreciated what you did, through this we could reducing miss understood and that is the way we learn the place we travel and also what we called cross culter understanding, you did a great job ! Bravo !
That's cool
Useful and understandable advice, not as I expected =) Thank you!
Just dont be wild and vulgar like kissing in the public or having sex.and in the beach the women sould not nude/not wearing bikini/or show there tits/boobs.

Thank you
You must visit Mount Bromo, Ijen Crater, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Lombok Island, Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat and many other beautiful places, because Indonesia is not only Bali, there are many other beautiful places.
but thank you for educating and showing the beauty of Bali
I have returned a few days back from Bali after a six day trip. Balinese people are very nice and friendly. As tourists, we must reciprocate the courtesy they extend to us. Everything you have said is quite accurate.
great tips susan!! stay safe my beauty, xx
Thankyou❤️❤️
YAS , we need more people like you who understands different cultures and respects the traditions and the locals....Too many awful tourists in Bali over the years...
Excellent! Thank you for sharing this. It’s very helpful and important for tourists..
big respect and thank you for your advice and I hope this applies to us as local tourists too. and for foreign tourists it would be wiser if you visit Bali not to get drunk and make trouble in public places.
Beautiful thanks hun,I am thinking of moving to Bali soon..! So they were good tips. 😊✨☀️
Ubud is marvelous, was there for 10 days for a wedding. What an exciting place to visit. Was worth the day of travel each way.
Thank you very much for explaining and teaching Indonesian culture, especially Bali.. Have a good vacation..
Thanks so much!

Thanks, im Indonesian and this is so right! Glad to know that you enjoy and learn something from Bali
thank you for the brief and clear explanation we Balinese are proud of guests who can appreciate our culture in Bali🙏
Thank you so much
1 more tips for me as Indonesian, our local foods is majority spicy. Ask or/and try a little bit of the food first. ☺
Anyway, tries other islands other than Bali, too. You guys will be surprised 😅 (Indonesia has many places and diverse cultures as well) 🥰 - love from Magelang, Central Java. (Where Borobudur Temple a.k.a the biggest Buddhist Temple in the world stand)
That's cool
Magelang mana bos?
@@gypsyinsneakers I recommend Yogyakarta (and Prambanan/Borobudur). Great and different culture and architecture.
I always respect individual's culture n their believes... religion is a most honoured n precious life... for every COUNTRIES.🙏
Anybody wants to visit countries.
Bali, Bali, Bali Indonesia to start with.
Love Bali so much.🌹❤️🌹
Everywhere marigold flowers are given importance. Lovely.🏵️🏵️🏵️
Bali is not a country. It is part of Indonesia. INDONESIA is the country.
Beautiful! I am Balinese and proud of you miss. Thank you for educating!
That's cool ✨
Hebat sekali kawan orang luar negeri bisa teu keindahan di Bali dan budayanya
I am visiting SE Asia for the first time and I'm spending about 10 days in Bali. A friend lives in Ubud and part of the time she will be my guide. I've traveled to other countries that also are sensitive about being handed something with the left hand. A good heads-up for sure.
Thank you so much for promoting our local tradition in Bali hope you enjoy it
Hi, on behalf of Indonesians, I humbly thank you for sharing this to other tourists, these are very descriptive and spot on! how you could compile this list of big no nos I have no idea lol. You're a very attentive person :)
Excellent advice and very accurate and helpful information. Well done!!
Dear lovely admin,,
It's such a beautiful one, thank you for your knowledge and shared by fully wisdom ❤.
Wayan.
This vlog is awesome. Thank you for share this to the world. As one of Balinese, I highly appreciate refers to the content of this video.
saya baru dapatkan video seperti ini, sangat bagus buat para pendatang dan warga lokal, anda betul betul paham budaya indoenesia.. terima kasih
15. Please do wear proper attire when visiting temples, attending ngaben/palebon ceremonies or another sacred places. Enjoy your holiday, stay safe stay healthy.
Thanks so much! You too❤️
@@gypsyinsneakers You're most welcome, btw, I heard a slightly Dutch accent the way you talk, it's cute tho 🤗

Gili island in lombok
Great content and it’s very insighful.. and i really love the bali scenery captured on this video.. wonderful..
That's nice
You are not just beautiful but also clever. Respect to you, this is a rare video!
If you are in Bali and especially if you live in Bali, be grateful! You are in one of the most beautiful places in the world that SO MANY people dream to go to.
true. even us indonesians are too broke to go to other island
Lol Bali is overrated AS FUCK
How can it be beautiful with all that garbage?

@@janetchristie9650 simple, just pick up the garbage ;) change starts with us
100% accurate! 😄 Great tips and video! Well done!
I'm indonesian and I am prepping my Aussie partner for our next trip to Bali. These are exactly the points I told him. Especially the left hand thing, as he's naturally a lefty i keep reminding him to hand me stuff with right hand, he was confused at first but then he understood.
Also, other points I told him:
3. Most balinese food is quite spicy, so bring your trusty diarrhoea tablets (i must say this, sorry)
4. He bowed when the balinese bowed during their daily ritual (maybe some prayer) i told we don't have to bow with them, just be quiet and don't disturb their ritual.
Overall, being respectful and try to aware of your surrounding and behave accordingly is the best advice you could give to tourists.
Thank you, we need more respectful Bule like you ✨
And the the note, Indonesia is not just about Bali, guys. There are still so many other places inside indonesia to come and to visit.
