This is the best spider tutorial so far that I have reviewed. Wonderful tip regarding large bead fillers, use of a spiral rather then bead caps ( get expensive) and I like how you did securing the wire legs which I was struggling with. I know this is 2013 but it is still relevant in 2024
These are the cutest things ever. I have been looking for a good tut on these and I found it here. I loved the tip about "stuffing" the large bead holes with more beads. That was pure genius. Thanks so much Aleshia, for your brilliance and creative ideas.
Best spider tutorial out there. I have been making these for a while and thanks to you mine will be even better. The best tip is to not start with the seed beads. You are a fantastic teacher. Thanks again, Lysa
I wish I had checked out this video earlier!! You never know how helpful the info in one video might be for an entirely different project. I have struggled for years trying to perfect the spiral headpin, with it properly centered. I kept watching one from a company, but the lady went too fast, and her fingers were in the way, so I never got it properly started. Now, I can finally see how to begin those headpins, for many different projects. Thanks again, Aleshia!!
Thank you SO much! I was at a fair yesterday, there was a booth selling these. I just couldn't bring myself to spend 35- 80$ for one!! And the 80$ one I loved. I looked closely and knew I could make my own!
I have made 6 of these so far for friends and coworkers. Everyone loves them, and I keep referring them to your youtube page. I've said it before, but you have the best tutorials. They are easy to follow and your ideas are fantastic. Thank you so much for these! I get excited whenever you add a new tutorial. :) you've been keeping me busy making pretty things since I discovered you!
Hey I made these today and I didn't have any 20 gauge for the legs so i used memory wire and used some 26 gauge wire and 'sewed' them together so they wouldn't move. Worked pretty good! This is a great video you really know your stuff!
I just made this by following along with the video and have already set out beads to make three more spiders. Thank you so very much for putting this video up.
I Love it! I'm new to beading and your video inspired me. I made the first of many to come! My head and body beads were very loose so I double the length of my body wire and bent it in half and used it double up through the head and body. I found this stiffened the beads and the leg wires nicely. I spiraled the wires at the back and left the two ends pointed up to resemble a stinger of sorts. I twisted the bent end of the doubled wire at the head to form a loop. Thank you for your wonderful tutorial!
Hi Aleshia,I would never tought one day i would say those Spiders are super cutes but they are,it'sw not a kind of design i would make but i have to admit Aleshia your Spiders touch my heart! Great video,Thank's to share.
These are gorgeous. I love the color combinations you used. Great tip about using the bugle beads inside the bigger hole beads! Thanks for sharing this.
Love your tutorial and the tips! I started making these and had the problem of the wire moving around and your way of making them is so much easier and makes more sense! Thanks so much!
In 1982 I designed and sold the first Christmas Spiders and sold 7 of them at a consignment shop here in York County, Pennsylvania. At first, when my spiders started appearing the next year produced by a local church I was really mad. I was young, and didn't realize the Christmas Spider was bigger than I would ever be. I"m glad to see it has grown, just wish I could get some credit. The first ones were made with wire, two large pearls, a smaller one for the head, and I painted a mouth and eyes with black and red and had beads on the ends of the feet. There were clear elongated beads on the legs. There was also a clear string out the back to hang it. There was also a small rolled up story that came with the spider. Thanks to everyone who have helped to make the Christmas Spider what it is today.
I've seen these all over and I love the story that go's with them. You are very good with your video as far as teaching a newbie how to do this spider. thank you so much.

Thank you so much! It is the awesome people like you that make me want to do more. However, it is starting to get hard to ignore the nasty people especially the ones that are copying my video tutorials as their own designs.
I seriously don't know what I would do if you stopped posting tutorials. You are so extremely talented and I find myself coming back go your channel before I attempt to bead anything! You have such great ideas :-)
These are beautiful! I'm new to the world of beading and I thought a fun way to get started would be to make some fun stitch markers for my knitting! Thank you for the clear tutorial. When I post on social media, I'll be sure to mention where I learned to make these!
Your video here taught me how to make my first beaded spiders back in 2013 when I first started making jewelry. I also purchased those Wubber pliers back then because of this video. Just wanted to thank you again. Have a spooktacular Halloween. Sparkle on!
Yes, they are my own designs I can't and would never do a video on someone elses design. I could get in big trouble with the copyright law. However, I have been having people copy my videos and act as if the design belonged to them. I make my designs by just playing around with my beads and trying different shapes and sizes.
There are a lot of beading video's out there....YOURS is by far the very best I have seen! You speak clearly, give "tips" as to how to make your Arachnids better. I did "subscribe" to your video's because this one is so well done. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all.....Happy Holidays!!!! Oh, Arachnids in a Christmas tree are considered good luck.
thank you Aleshia ! I was looking everywhere for a spider to make over the weekend and there weren't many out there so I had to improvise :) I love yours !! thank you so much for all your tutorials !
This was my first attempt at a beaded spider. ( pretty much my first beading project) Your tutorial was perfect and so easy to follow. Great job, thank you!
Hi Aleshia, just made two of these spiders and loved it. I am in love with that looper plier and going to get my own. This was a fun project can't wait to make more. Thank you for the wonderful step-by-step instructions you made it so simple to follow. Take care and can't wait to see your next project....deb (Ralph's wife)
I keep coming back to your video for help. You explained and showed how this was done just perfect. Thank you for making this video, I just wanted to share what great work you do. Thanks again...:)
Love the way you make your spiders . I have been making spiders for a few years now . Love the swirl you do .. I I double the wire that goes through the beads so i have a loop at the front & put small beads to make eyes . I Put my larger ones in box type frames .. Will try doing the swirl as it looks so good . Thanks for posting such a good video . Reading the comment you made about copying .. I watched a few tutorials on how to make spiders & then did it my own way as i don't like to steal designs .x
You are very inspiring . Bought a lot of beads from dollar shops and am now going to make a lot of beautiful spiders just like the gorgeous ones l have just seen!
Aleshia, What a great informative video! It would be perfect if you could list the materials so it makes a shopping list. While watching how creative you are, I didn't make any notes. Being able to take a snapshot of materials would help enormously. Thank you for all of the effort you put into your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for such a cute tutorial and the great idea of what to do with the odd ball beads When I make these, I think I'll incorporate them into a mobile.
I loved these. Great job. Thanks for sharing. I am really impressed with how well you are able to video your work. The lighting is great and the camera is steady. Could you possibly do a video on how you set up your workspace/camera.
I have a feeling I'm about to have an infestation! Thanks for sharing this super easy tutorial. I couldn't find my tools and I was still able to make these with just a pair of small wire cutters!
Love these. They are adorable. So glad that I found your video. I will definitely be making some. I was married on Halloween and would love to make a few. Thanks for the tutorial. Crafty hugs, Ana
I like your bead spiders better than this other video I watched. There is a way to use those looping pliers easier by rotating the pliers after the first bend. I have seen it in a few other jewelry videos. Well they make it look easy anyway. :) - Heidi
I promise mine are different still. I’m just interested in improving my legs. I never would claim any design as my own. Especially since so many people do this.
This was just what I needed, my husband wants to make spiders and couldn't get the legs right. Hopefully thanks to you we have cracked it. I have now subscribed and joined your Facebook page :)
Thank you for sharing; these are great and I'm going to make some to put on my Hallowe'en tree. I think they would also make a brilliant necklace, either a single one as a pendant or several spiders on a chain necklace.
Alicia I've really enjoyed watching you create new designs. I enjoy working with beads and wire. Do you know where I can purchase different types & colors of wire at a more reasonable price. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me in this area. Thanks, Linda
So much fun watching the spider be made, I have done some spiders but I got a lot of great pointers thank you, now I have my spiders in a container in a box I just need to get inspired to use them some how, :)
Thanks sososo much i have been trying to make spiders like forever now i can please keep doing your videos i just love learning all your tricks as your very creative

Spiders are so adorable! Loved the tutorial and making one myself.
