In 1982 I designed and sold the first Christmas Spiders and sold 7 of them at a consignment shop here in York County, Pennsylvania. At first, when my spiders started appearing the next year produced by a local church I was really mad. I was young, and didn't realize the Christmas Spider was bigger than I would ever be. I"m glad to see it has grown, just wish I could get some credit. The first ones were made with wire, two large pearls, a smaller one for the head, and I painted a mouth and eyes with black and red and had beads on the ends of the feet. There were clear elongated beads on the legs. There was also a clear string out the back to hang it. There was also a small rolled up story that came with the spider. Thanks to everyone who have helped to make the Christmas Spider what it is today.

Thank you. Yes, this is 4 years later but you have helped me with wire. The artistic wire( Zebra), copper more mailable at wrapping around the torso for the legs better then half hard or Para wire not copper. I like the straight forwardness of your design and not a lot of bells and whistles, which add to cost.

This is the best wire wrapped spider tutorial I've seen! I like that you use 22 gauge for the legs. I tried to make my first spider but used 24 gauge as it was suggested on several other tutorials but I think thicker wire will work much better for stability and posing. Thank you for sharing your technique! 😍

I love it! You make it look so easy, but I know those legs can be hard to get right and tight. Great job.

Really nice spiders and tutorial. I've watched a few versions and so far, I like these best. I think I'll go dig thru my bead stash for some big beads and try one. Thanks

Thank you for this video... these little guys are beautiful! I'm going to make a variety of them. Some will be placed around my plants, and then I will put some others in random places for people to find. 👍😊👍
