In 1982 I designed and sold the first Christmas Spiders and sold 7 of them at a consignment shop here in York County, Pennsylvania. At first, when my spiders started appearing the next year produced by a local church I was really mad. I was young, and didn't realize the Christmas Spider was bigger than I would ever be. I"m glad to see it has grown, just wish I could get some credit. The first ones were made with wire, two large pearls, a smaller one for the head, and I painted a mouth and eyes with black and red and had beads on the ends of the feet. There was also a clear string out the back to hang it. There was also a small rolled up story that came with the spider. Thanks to everyone who have helped to make the Christmas Spider what it is today.
@@sarahstgermain2646 Well now I'm heart broken. I never saw them before I designed mine. Oh, well. Think I did a good job raising the kids though and no one has copied that (including the kids) so I'm good. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for sharing , been making these for a few years & do them the same but use double wire for the body & put two small beads at the front on the loop & put ribbon through .
I agree, especially how to make the coils. Definitely not a good tutorial for someone just getting started working with wire and beads. She moves way too quickly, too, when telling the order/type of beads for the legs.

Sorry, love. These were being made and sold in the Ukraine way before 1982. So no, you did not invent them.

I love this I'm going to give it a try.
Videos blurry, angle is weird, close ups on the wire work would be nice
List of materials in the description section would be helpful

what size are the bugle beads
Hi Sally we used 6mm bugle beads. Thank you for watching.
So why start with 6" when you cut so much off? And I wish you would show the rolled wire at both ends ... zoom in.
