I did electrical for 20 yrs and used just about every brand there is cutting up to 4/0 THHN copper and what you need to realize is this, 15 yrs and thousands of cuts later and the Kleins still cut like butter. Worth every penny.
One of you best tests to date. Awesome! I bought the Doyle about a month ago. I haven't used them yet but I could tell that they were a really good cable cutter the moment I took them out of the package. Glad to see that they fared well against the competition. Once I get the mini shop up and running, I'll be using them a lot.
It's hard to go wrong with klein or channellock but I've been impressed with every doyle tool. I got the diagonal cutters open box for $5 and abused them daily for years. They're still as sharp and smooth as the day I got them Really liking the tool reviews
I owned the WISS cutter before watching video. They are stiff, a little Kroil and use they will smooth out. Made it thru a piece of 4/0 I had laying around, but not without a lot of effort and turning the cable twice!. If they break I will spring for the Kliens, not seeing the need to cut anything bigger than 2/0 for now. Great tool test.
Great video Rob! Your emphasis, speech, structure, and volume is so damn good! Makes me happy watching you grow and adapt into an audio content powerhouse. Hope 2022 continues to be prosperous and successful for you and your family brother.
Great video. Great info. Iam going to have to get 1 of these soon. Love klein but not price. I'll only use it a hand full of times. I do like greenlee to but may go with the doyle. Thanks for the comparisons.
I used the cheaper Klein and it was a horrible the d4s is way better and cheaper. For the bigger cable like 4/0 I use harbor freight big cable cutters lol it's huge but it's worth it for only $20
Hey man you did a video on a wire cutters and it was the same one as snap on..I can't remember the name it was like pm280 I think I'm trying to find the brand again so I can purchase them..
Most of the measurements are in the 220-250 Nm range. This equals around 25 kg / 55 lbs weight at 1 meter (40" / 3,3 ft) distance. You have about 5 to 6 inch leverage which means roughly 6-8 x the weight at 1 meter. That's up to 200 kg equal weight. A strong male has hand squashing power of around 50-60 kg. If these numbers were right, no man on earth could cut these wires with any of these pliers. There is definitely some flaws in these measurements and compared to similar tests done by Project Farm these numbers are ridiculously high.
My father was a telecom splicer and then engineer and he swore by Klein tools. When he ran his own crews he always recommended to the new guys to spend the money and get Klein. As a skilled DIY guy and car audio enthusiast who wasn't always smart enough to take dads advice I've tried a lot of cheapo tools. But when I've decided to spend the money Klein tools have never failed me. Channel Lock always seems to be a great value and Greenlee is what I consider a great value as well. Given all that your test results don't surprise me but I'm glad to see the results anyway.
Holy shit! You do realize that the reason you're getting roughly the same "NM" readings with the first handful is because your slamming the cutters closed while still touching the handle....

Definitely reminds me of project farm - glad I stuck around till the end 🙂
Awesome content my dude
Appreciate it homie
Superb comparison! And thanks for the ones you sent me 👌
Thank you mang you know I got chu!
Project Vega “we’re going to test that”
I was thinking the same thing!!! PF does some great testing, but it’s great to see a test of tools that are used in our industry!
Great video Rob! Your emphasis, speech, structure, and volume is so damn good! Makes me happy watching you grow and adapt into an audio content powerhouse. Hope 2022 continues to be prosperous and successful for you and your family brother.
Thank you!
You should try all them on some 2/0 thhn stranded copper.
I really appreciate the project farm format here, thank you!
I really like these videos. You crammed a LOT of work into 23 minutes. I know it’s a labor of love for you. I also dig the cable cutters you sent me!
I got you!
I see a Battery Hook Up sticker in the background!! Glad to see someone else has found them! I’m like a kid in a candy store at that place!!
Yeah fo sho!
Thanks man for your time and effort to test and share with viewers on what is the best out there.
Thanks for watching
Nice test! I've always had great luck with longevity of Channellock products.
Thanks
Very nice... I happen to have a channellock and a Doyle... and must say that I do prefer the Doyle !!! Great value and warranty
An excellent tool review by a trusted car audio enthusiast. Pro tip to all - Hifi Vega knows tools and drops purchase-ready knowledge.
Thanks Fuego
I used my Klein ones to cut mc cable for 12 years and still cut like butter
Cool video. Good wire cutting, proper insulation stripping and terminal crimping can make or break an audio system.
Rob as always, QUALITY!! Thanks for testing so we can make informed choices like a boss!
Thanks!
I was able to grab a set of Milwaukee ones on sale one day and they are awesome.
Called it Klein to the top. Stock going thru the roof. Great video Mr hifi
Thanks!
Like a project farm video.
That’s what I was shooting for!
I was just about to leave the same comment until I scrolled down. Then saw yours.
Recommend, please, gut cutters for thick coaxial cables including cables. It’s very important to have nice cut before installing F-connector.
I’m surprised that the Southwire failed to cut through! Good vid!
Me too man I could have gotten a bunk pair
Great video bro, as a electrician of 21 years this was dope to watch. Keep up the great work! Watch big d, Parker and now your new video! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks!
The best is Knipex Cable Cutters. Has a double jaw feature for super duty.
Thanks dude. Done watching till the last part. Informative.
Ill pay 20 bucks extra on klien pliars over stone bruising my hands great comparison video!
Haha thanks man!
I enjoyed this video (love Project Farm too). Klein is good stuff, excellent recommendation.

Lots of good budget friendly options in this one and I love the Klein, but $40 is a big ask!
The best cable cutter is Knipex step cut 95 16 160. Save your time searching. Once you buy it, you are good for life unless someone steal it.
I used the cheaper Klein and it was a horrible the d4s is way better and cheaper. For the bigger cable like 4/0 I use harbor freight big cable cutters lol it's huge but it's worth it for only $20

Stellar video Vega! Keep it up, this is a Winner!
Thanks
Great video... awesome editing too!
Thank you!
Rob this video is in the top 5 favs of mine Klein FTW
Because it finally has your name spoken at the end? 😉😂
Harbor Freight, here I come. Thanks Robert
I got chu!
Try some pwc80 blueprint cutters or knipex is best
Great comparison video. Those Southwire cutters really disappointed me. I wasn't expecting that poor showing.
Me either! Thanks for watching
Project Farm style. I like it lol.
If you slow the video down you can watch the gauge peak when you slam down
It peaks right at the moment it cuts through. I made sure to slow down every piece of footage to ensure I got the proper reading

It could of course be that the measurements were not Nm (mass x G / distance from pivot point) but simple Newtons (mass x G).
Awesome comparison.
Thanks!
I love the Klein tools. So I ask for them for bday and Xmas from lowes!
Great review!
Thanks
The one test I think you failed to show us is the one where you strip the end of the cables with them lots of people do that
Yeah, that’s a test I meant to do, but didn’t get around to.
Southwire - I will send these to my "frenemies" :)
lol
Wish you would have tested Knipex
No ideal?
Picked up the Greenlee instead of ideal
Alright, project farm style
Good video 😊
Called it!

I’m a bit of a Klein fanboy myself and only a few of their tools have ever let me down
Holy shit! You do realize that the reason you're getting roughly the same "NM" readings with the first handful is because your slamming the cutters closed while still touching the handle....
I should have showed the slowed down footage in this video, but I checked frame by frame and the force was measured before the slam
No knipex? Hmmm
They don’t make a high leverage set. They’ll compete in the compact cutter shootout
I love all my knipex tools. They just last and work great.
Perfect!
😎👍👍
Now try using a PVC pipe cutter.
They do a pretty good job I’ve got a few that I’ve done that with
👍
Someone watches Project farm…
👀👍
