Great idea with using Cane Toads as Roach Control in the aviary, although I'd reckon you'd have to remove them once you keep smaller birds in there once the parrots move to their future outdoor aviary, since Cane Toads can and will ambush smaller birds once they land on the ground. And yes, both the toads you collected are indeed Cane Toads as their colorations can vary and that the similar-looking endemic Philippine Toads have small orange-ish colored crests on top of their heads. And since Donatello has been eating a lot of the plants in his temporary enclosure, I guess you'd have to put in a lot more of the aquatic plants that multiply quickly, like water lettuce, water hyacinth, duckweed, and water weed so Donatello and any future turtles can readily have a renewable source of food in the pond. And as for the answer to your question about being a cook or a professional eater, I dare say I am both since I love to cook because I love to eat haha and I also love to learn new recipes so I have new things to eat. That's the life of a Gourmand I guess haha.
Awesome! Yes, placed in a whole bunch of water lettuce yesterday and did a partial water change just in case of ammonia build up! Can't wait for the pond to be done so I can legit start to create the aquatic comminity, I've been dying for!

Love you singing to Suga! Our new rescue... Little Foot, the baby Savannah Monitor is gradually getting used to being handled... still hissing some but not as crazy a noise as Suga! He will settle down on our chest after a bit 😂 I've had a Yellow eared slider (aquatic turtle) for 17 years. He gets light in and out of the water it's true (he has 120 gal, 3 section river tank). But he still needs to climb out and bask from time to time to dry out his shell sometimes as it helps keep their shell healthy. It's not that often. He (Bob) does it 1-2 times a week. He climbs up on an island between the middle section and the lowest section... or sometimes on big rocks I have in the lowest section.

Honestly RJ needs to open his own home design business (of he were ever to find the time) he's got such a fantastic eye. I think when husband and I buy our own home, yours will be a huge inspiration to us! Especially since you love animals too! I find it hard to find design influence that also incorporates the animals of the family.

You are correct with turtles can absorb the light through the water but they must have somewhere where they can come out the water to bask and fully dry out to prevent fungus growing on their skin and shell as the sun kills off the possible harmful infections and also to prevent shell rot
Suga is like a grumpy old man, complaining that the neighborhood kids keep bothering him. 🤣🤣. I, too, am a professional eater. I used to say I loved to cook (because it sounded less glutinous), but I really just like to eat very tasty food, and will cook it if I have to 🙄. I love trying new foods - I generally try to eat healthy, but anything I’ve never eaten before is exempt from all dietary restrictions. 🤣 I am so blessed that such a variety of food is available throughout the U.S., and even online. Good food is one of the joys in life, best enjoyed with good friends. 🥰

I love Suga! Wnen we visited Eacham Lake in Queensland , Australia. We saw a sugar gliders in the wild on one of our night tour. And when I saw Suga it reminds me of our experienced in Australia almost 2 decades ago…I did not know that they can be a pet.😮
When you were interacting with Suga at 4am I noticed that he is missing part of his back foot. It looks like he was either born that way or it happened when he was younger and has healed up nicely. I am glad that it doesn't bother him and that he is still very mobile.

OMG this is good to know! It made me so frustrated smelling it and just knowing garbage was being burned. Rj told me we couldn't do anything about it because it is so normal in the Philippines and some places like our old subdivision in Alfonso demand that residents burn their garbage in a pit!!! 🤬

Still better to have a perch. It’s how they are in nature. Shell can completely dry and not get covered in algae.
